Me name am not Bizarro.

Me am not sad.

When Bizarro am tries to help, he always helps just wrong. Everyone is always happy, and tries to hurt Bizarro. He saves Lois Lane, and he makes sure to make Metropolis extra good – but Superman am always trying to stop Bizarro. He says… he says nice things about Bizarro. Like how Bizarro am not a clone of Superman. Like how Bizarro am always doing the right thing.

Bizarro loves Superman.

Me want to kill him so much.

Nobody tells Bizarro what he am doing right – they just shoot me, and everyone screams and run while me try to save them. Bizarro even try to fix Krypton so that he can have a home, and maybe even Superman or Lois Lane will hate it very much and want to stay. But they never do. They always stop Bizarro and send him away.

Me am not sad at all. Me just want to have a place to go where Bizarro am home.

"Me just want to have a place to go where Bizarro am home" This line is sad because when translated, Bizarro has no place to go...awwwww. Bad work joylessboy....how about I leave Bizarronese to you, good work @joygirl :)

I was using Bizarro-speak. -_- It was a quick project that I wasn't expecting many people to even see, and I have been very happy that so many people enjoyed it.

BIZARRONESE:

Bad... in a normal way.

#28 Posted by Joygirl (19933 posts) - - Show Bio

@wildvine: @GR2Blackout: Thanks guys. :D And yeah, seems to be best to have both translations. XD Bizarronese tends to lead towards some serious miscommunication. I can understand his frustration now!

@joygirl: Excellent piece of writing. Many people do not appreciate how difficult it is to contradict all of rules pertaining to our mother tongue we have spent years mastering and engraining in our brains (probably because the general standards are not too high. Unless they are using a poxy iPad like this that has the language capabilities of a TV remote control at times). It must have been very time consuming indeed. I was wondering if you could elaborate as to how you produced it? Did you formulate your own rules? Was it generally random? Did you write a plan or translate a plain English version?

@teddy_the_god_killer: Honestly this piece just kinda... happened. I was in a Bizarro sort of mood and contemplating his mind and feelings and I decided to write a sympathetic piece for him. The language just flowed.

Bizarro's a delicate write. He speaks in opposites, but if you go too far overboard on the oppsites, it can become completely unreadable. It's a fun exercise to try it though. :)

@joygirl: Ypu seem to have a natural affinity for languages, syntax etc. It is a good gift to have and most definitely something you should actively develop. One of the hardest skills to enhance is the ability to make things appear random. As we are naturally disposed to forming patterns (which is how we learn) if you ask most people to do a task involving a random element, at some point they will begin to form a pattern. This is how they can catch criminals, trace financial fraud etc.

#42 Posted by Joygirl (19933 posts) - - Show Bio

@teddy_the_god_killer: Indeed, and thanks so much. ^_^ I do constantly try to hone my skills in english/writing, one of the few skills of mine I'm actually proud of, hehe.

#43 Edited by teddy_the_god_killer (298 posts) - - Show Bio

@joygirl: If I may make a suggestion have you considered playing with the punctuation and structure too? It would be interesting, particularly breaking the cadence of the reading and speech. Playing with tenses and cases might be too much.

#44 Posted by Joygirl (19933 posts) - - Show Bio

@teddy_the_god_killer: I think that might make it a little too unreadable. The trick to Bizarro is writing him in a way that is consistently ridiculous and sometimes confusing, but that can generally be understood by the casual reader. Flipping apostrophes around, I think, may complicate things.

#45 Posted by teddy_the_god_killer (298 posts) - - Show Bio

@joygirl: Fair game, but judging by some posters on CV it might actually make it more legible for them LOL

@joygirl: Of course I wholeheartedly agree, but if a person is going to post the least they can do is make an effort to get 99% of the spelling correct. I make a mistake or two not paying attention or leaving my iPad to autocorrect but some are really bad. I always wonder whether the brevity of speech bubbles/balloons effects the quality of a person's language skills like tweeting or texting. One thing that I enjoyed about Sandman was that often there were long bouts of prose to sink one's 'teeth' into.

#49 Posted by Joygirl (19933 posts) - - Show Bio

@teddy_the_god_killer: Still haven't read Sandman. I feel like I SHOULD but I just can't get excited for it for some reason.

@joygirl: One of the best pieces of literature I have ever read, seriously (Lucifer was good but only peaked with the final episode with Yaweh). The variety of stories, artwork, care and skill is phenomenal. I strongly suggest you read it. When you see how Gaiman treats The Endless, you will see how badly the Godhead and abstracts are written in DC/Marvel. Death of The Endless surpasses anything I have seen from the Marvel equivalent. Genius.
