Marvel's Superman chapter 3

Time Square, NYC

Sandman, Rhino and Shocker had Spiderman cornered as the rest of the Sinister 6 approached to finish the job when a powerful gust of wind slammed into Sandman sending him scattering across the city. A man in blue tights with a flowing red cape lands in front of the charging Rhino and caught him by the horn slamming him into the pavement as Shocker hit him with a blast. Superman responded with his heat vision, melting his gauntlets. Doc Ock, along with Vulture and arrived and attempted to go around Superman but were caught and knocked unconscious with no effort by the man of steel. Chameleon surrendered without a fight.

Spiderman got to his feet and thanked Superman for the rescue, Superman looked at him and said, "I'm sure you would've done the same for me." Spiderman looked around," Would I really need to?"

About an hour Superman was standing on the roof of the Daily Bugle building watching over the city when he heard someone approach, he turned to see Iron man hovering behind him. "Hello, Superman, Is it?" Superman nodded, "That's what the news keeps calling me."

Iron man went on,"You've been doing a lot of good lately, those powers of yours are quite impressive. I'm here to extend an invitation to you. How would you like to be an avenger?" Superman shook his head,"I'll have to pass."

Iron man replied,"But you could do a lot of good on the team." Superman kept his stance," Maybe that's true but may I ask you a question?" Iron Man nodded as Superman continued," Where were the Avengers last week when Sentinels were attacking mutant children not 4 blocks from your head quarters?" Iron man started,"It's not our place....." Superman interrupted,"It's not your place to what, stop killer robots from massacring children? Is that how you define a hero? As someone who will protect others so long as they're your definition of normal? I was raised to believe that my power gave me a responsibility to protect all innocent people not just the ones that fit in. So thank you for the offer, Mr. Stark but I'll pass." Iron man was shocked, "How did you......" Superman looked down on him from the air saying,"X-ray vision." He then flew away.

Nice too see Supes standing up for mutants...Makes me wonder what the government will do when they find out he's an alien?

@Primmaster64: we'll find out soon, the next chapter will be a small time jump to Superman being a bit more established as a hero

@Primmaster64: It'll be the last one for a while, I promise

@Primmaster64: Basically it'll just be skimming over a few months that he spends establishing himself by taking out minor threats and people starting to see him as really indestructible but then someone shows up who's an actual threat to him

Best bit! And very Avengers, they seem to be absent when stuff goes down

@batkevin74: He will have more interactions with various Avengers and not all of them will disagree with his opinion of their position regarding the Sentinels

@SandMan_: I was just about to start putting it together just reading up to remind myself where I'm at with it

@SandMan_: Theres a prologue too that explains that Krypton was destroyed by Galactus I just need to dig it up

@SandMan_: Chapter 4 just went up, the build toward the Galactus confrontation will take some time

@SandMan_: Well If we have Thanos Darkseid would be kind of redundant and I like Thanos a bit more any way

Good work @joshmightbe but there does seem to be a big jump between chapter 2 to 3? Other than that I do like him X-raying Iron Man and giving him a stern talking to about heroics. Waiting to see him take on a kryptonite infused Dr Doom :)
