Undisclosed location, years ago
"My creation, the new face of a new world, is close to completion." A pleased Ultron cackled. He was currently in an undisclosed lair, where he worked to complete his goal for human extinction. The room was dark and from the walls different wires and cybernetics hanged from them. The only thing giving light was a green sparkling tube that contained a clear fluid and the un-finished body of the Vision.
"I dream of a future world, without the flawed humans. A world made out of perfection, without emotions, without organic life what so ever." He continued.
The Vision's body slowly patched up in the tube. His outer shell had just been formed as Ultron completed the finishing touches.
"My creation...my vision, is created out of two humanized components, the body of human built android Jim Hammond and the brain patterns of the super-human Simon Williams, but he will be the dawn of a new age nonetheless. It will be the Age of Ul..." But he couldn't finish. Suddenly there was a bright flash of light that lit up the room, revealing several failed inventions and creations lying around.
"Who...who are you?!" Ultron yelled as a dark figure appeared out of the light. "YOU! What are YOU doing here?!"
The figure slowly approached Ultron, carrying something in his hand. It was almost impossible to see anything after the flashing light.
"Get away from me!" Ultron yelled. "NO! Don't..."
The Avengers Penthouse, the entrance hall, present
"Come on out! I know you're there! You breached our headquarters; you nested yourself in here and stole one of our members! I know you're still there and I know you are far from finished with us! So show yourself, coward!" Vision screamed at the empty air.
"Calm yourself vision!" Dragon Man shouted from the other side of the entrance hall, assisting Pym with trying to see what's wrong with the console.
"I've never seen him like this. He never loses his temper." Machine Man nervously stated.
"I bet this is more personal to him than to any of us." Jim Hammond answered. The two stood by one of the walls. Since Hammond took much damage after his fight with the Ultron controlled Doombot he had been patched up, wearing bandages over his arms and chest.
Vision stopped screaming, rubbing his forehead to try to calm down. He turned around, and approached Pym who had been quiet the whole time.
"What is wrong with the console, Henry?" Vision asked, now calmer than before. He had reverted back to his usual unemotional personality.
"Well, it appears Doombot managed to glitch it before he was sent off to wherever." Hank answered while using a wrench to examine the inside of the metallic console. "It's not safe to use yet, which means where stuck here for a short while."
"How long will that take?!" Machine Man shouted.
"Settle down. I will have this up and running in no time." Pym reassured him calmly.
"I wouldn't be too sure, father." A hollow voice echoed in the hall.
"Ultron..." Vision muttered behind closed teeth.
Ultron's terrifying face appeared on the wooden door that leads to the unreachable world outside. Slowly the hall turned metallic and evil, the walls were filled with silver metal and green circuits ran across them.
"What have you done?" Dragon Man angrily shouted.
"Such courage. I easily hacked my mainframe into this little pocket universe. That way I could create my own." Ultron answered.
"You what?" Vision angrily asked while slongly walking towards the door.
"I have created my own universe." Ultron stated. Pym couldn't take it anymore. He cowered together behind the console. Suddenly a bright but unnoticeable light burst. Not long after there were an even greater light which attracted Hammond's attention.
"Are you all right there, Pym?" Hammond asked. He reached for Pym, who then answered by grabbing Hammond's hand. Hammond then pulled Pym up on his feet. Pym quickly walked over to Vision.
"Tell us, Ultron. What do you mean 'you're own universe'?" Pym asked him.
"You shall soon see!" Ultron answered.
Suddenly Ultron's face disappeared and the room reverted back into its normal looks. But just as everything seemed calm the door swung open with a bang. Outside was a white and cold void. A vortex came from the void and shook the hall, ripping the heroes from the ground and pulling them with great force towards the door. With great horror they screamed and tried to grab something to save themselves. But it was too late. Soon enough they were all on the other side of the door. The vortex stopped and the door closed behind them.
Undisclosed location, an unknown amount of time later
At this point it was very hard to tell if you were dead or alive. As an android it's hard to tell if you have been shut down or if you’re just in some type of cybernetic lock-down. All Jim Hammond could hear was a ringing sound echoing in his head. When he couldn't take it anymore he forced his eyes open, seeing an evil, red sky as he did.
"AH!" Hammond yelled out when he quickly sat up. He looked around, seeing seven golden Ultron-sentinels levitating above the ground, looking at him and the others who lay next to him on the cold ground.
"SUBMIT OR PERISH!" One of the sentinels said to him. He looked at his unconscious teammates, though they seemed to be in deep sleep they had no cuts or bruises.
"Big chance, goldy." Hammond said, enraged. He quickly burst into flames and flew straight into the sentinel that gave him the ultimatum. The heavily armored sentinel barely moved and was barely scratched. Hammond ricocheted to the ground.
"AARGH!" Hammond screamed as he felt the surging pain from his chest.
"ALERT! HOSTILE FORCE DETECTED!" Another sentinel said coldly. "PERISH!"
"Can't he get another chance?" A sarcastic voice said. Suddenly, Machine Man's extended arm grabbed around said sentinel’s neck and pulled it down on the ground.
BANG
"Thanks for the lightshow, Torch! Better than an alarm clock." Machine Man said and gave Hammond a thumbs up before dodging a blow from another sentinel. One after one the others managed to wake up and join the fight, with surprising ease.
"Henry, these appear to be identical to the kind of Ultron-drones that we met in the Age of Ultron." Vision said as he phased through a sentinel's chest, making it tumble to the ground and crashing into the sentinel Machine Man pulled down.
"They sure do fit your description of them." Hank Pym answered as he tried to hold off a rampaging sentinel with the use of a special frequency coming from his Ant-Man helmet.
"SUBM-MIT O-R-R PE-PE-PERISH!" The malfunctioning and rampaging sentinel ordered when he flew towards Pym just as he lost focus and fell down.
"It's quite alarming." Pym stated just as Dragon Man flew past him with great force and slammed into another sentinel.
"What I'm wondering is, did Ultron send us back to the future or to that pocket universe he told us about?" Dragon Man asked as he dusted off his shoulder after the incredible impact that left the sentinel crippled.
"I don't know, Dragon Man. But I would really like to know." Vision stated.
Sadly, it didn't matter how much they fought. Just as some fell even more took their place. It didn't take long until they were surrounded by around thirty sentinels.
"SUBMIT OR PERISH! SUBMIT OR PERISH! SUBMIT OR PERISH!" They all chanted around the heroes.
"It's no use." Jim Hammond decided and unwillingly raised his hands in the air. "We submit. Take us to your leader!"
The sentinels stopped chanting and a silence fell, as if they didn't expect a surrender. Slowly they reformed, with about fifteen sentinels levitating on each side of the heroes as they escorted them away.
"Why did you do that?" An irritated Machine Man asked Hammond.
"It's no use." Hammond repeated and the others agreed. "They will just keep coming. The best thing we can do is to be tactical."
Hank Pym had his hands behind his head, but quickly put his right hand into his pocket to assure himself that something inside was still there. When he felt cold metal against his skin he was relieved and kept on walking.
Suddenly the sentinels stopped in front of the entrance to a huge citadel. The heroes did the same. They all gazed at the golden spear that didn't seem to stop.
"SUBMIT!" The sentinel closest to the citadel uttered.
The heroes slowly entered. They were met with the sight of a large throne room. It was golden as everything else and it was decorated with pillars by the walls and differently shaped floor tiles. On the other side of the enormous room sat a large robot with an empty but still an evil look on his face.
"Welcome, Avengers." Ultron's robotic voice said. It echoed in the room.
"Ultron!" Vision screamed in rage before he leapt through the air with his eyes blazing red. But just as he was about to attack he stopped in mid-air, having been caught by a forcefield that protected Ultron.
"Amusing." Ultron taunted the caught Vision, "You are all welcome to try."
"Careful." Hank Pym whispered to the others since he could feel that Hammond slightly moved as if he was about to attack. Pym walked slowly in front of Ultron and looked at him.
"What is this?" Pym finally asked, referring to everything that surrounded them.
"Like I said, father. It's my pocket universe." Ultron answered.
"I understand that." Pym said. "But I'm just wondering, why?"
"As you might have guessed I have been keeping a good eye on all of you." Ultron said, almost with joy. "I created an 'anti-pocket universe' out of yours. When I have exterminated you all I plan to create a rift between this universe and the 'real' universe. Thus, creating my ideal reality. The Age of Ultron."
"I knew it." Dragon Man whispered to himself.
"There's only one chance of stopping this." Hank told the others. "Stall him for me!"
"I thought you'd never ask." Hammond told Hank as he lit his hands on fire. "My fingers are itching!"
With great force he shot beams of fire at Ultron but he was still protected by the force field. Machine Man and Dragon Man was quickly caught by it like Vision and soon only Pym remained. Pym had picked up the metal device he had in his pocket, trying to make work.
"Not so fast, father." Ultron said and suddenly Pym flew up into the air, helpless. He dropped the device which fell to the ground. "I control this universe!"
"Machine Man, you have to brake free from his force field!" Pym yelled, urging him to stretch for the device.
"I... I will try. AARGH!" He screamed when pain surged through his body as he basically broke the laws of physics that Ultron created. But with great strength he managed to reach it and he pressed the red button on its side.
"Wha-what is happening?" Ultron screamed when he felt an absorbent feeling in his chest.
"You don't remember this." Pym said as he slowly fell to the ground again. "But shortly after you're creation I met you. It was around the time of Vision's creation. I knew that there were no other way to defeat you. I used the time warper to travel back in time."
The others were now free from the force field as a black hole grew in Ultron's chest.
"I managed to insert a black hole virus in your chest. Like the one Doombot has. I finally get to activate it."
"AAAAARHH!" Ultron screamed when he imploded to nothingness. The ground started to shake and the walls started to crumble.
"What is happening?" Machine Man asked.
"This whole pocket universe was created by Ultron and was a part of him. Now that he's gone it will be destroyed as well." Pym answered.
"Will we die too?" Machine Man asked again.
"Not if we're lucky." Pym answered and picked up another device from his pocket, the time warper. "Stay close to me."
The others formed around him as a light flashed around them.
The Avengers Penthouse, some time later
Just like they arrived in Ultron's universe, the same way they arrived in the Penthouse. They all woke up as an unexpected guest entered the entrance hall.
"Hank! There was a call from the police about some canisters in the desert!" Janet van Dyne told him with a high pitched voice. "I'm not your secretary, you know that right?"
