Welcome to Mashed Up Origins!

This is an experiment of mine that I was going to make into a group, but with the chaos that a group can bring I decided to go it alone. It’s short, sweet and basically a quick origin where one hero gets anothers origin, something to make you go “I’d like to see that!”

“You dare presume to talk to Victor Von Doom in such a manner?”

Reed rubbed his temple in frustration as the pair got into yet another heated argument in their shared laboratory at Empire State University. “Yes Victor, I do! Your…contraption is borderline dangerous! It’s a bomb disguised as pseudo-science!”

Victor waved Reed away “Your feeble mind cannot comprehend…”

“VICTOR!” yelled Reed grabbing his rival by the wrist “THIS IS NONSENSE! LISTEN TO REASON!”

“Remove your hand Richards,” growled the young Latverian “Or I will remove it from you!”

Reed let him go “Your maths is wrong! Wrong hypothesis is flawed! I am going to the Dean.”

“Idle threats.” Doom sneered as he turned back to the device he had made to rescue his mother Cynthia from Hell where the demon Mephisto tortured her. Reed shook his head and left but as he was halfway down the corridor there was an almighty explosion.

Victor Von Doom sat in first class sullenly looking out the window at the clouds below. His once beautiful face was scarred; a nasty cut under his right eye that ran down his cheek to his jaw as if someone had taken a cheese grater to his face.

He’d been expelled from Empire State for the accident, his doctorate studies on hold indefinitely as most other universities had closed ranks on him. So he headed to China where rumours of a place called the Valley of Spirits that would restore his face and also allow him to contact his mother.

It had been several years but Doom had found something better than he could ever dream of in the Valley of Spirits. He had uncovered a spacecraft that had crashed landed, the remains of a dragon-like alien creature and a gigantic robot. But what caught his eye were the ten flashy rings that radiated power. He placed them on his fingers and felt and instant connection with them.

Doom and his newly christened Doombot conquered Latveria in under forty-eight hours, the military no match for the giant alien robot and its master who could throw fire, ice, darkness and disintegration beams. He made himself Lord Doom, wanting the throne but rejecting the title of king as he had just hurled the previous king, Rudolfo, into orbit courtesy of his magical rings.

“My Lord!”

The scarred conqueror turned to see who disturbed him as he gazed at the mountains where he’d spent his youth. The young messenger bowed deeply as he held up an American newspaper. Doom saw the picture and smiled.

“Bring it here!”

The new Latveria monarch saw his old adversary Reed Richards, green, muscular and very, very angry smashing an army base. Victor let out a chuckle.

“Contact…Joseph Robertson at the Daily Bugle and buy ALL the original photos of this he has! Then tell General Vernard to join me to discuss the invasion of Symkaria.”

Finally getting the F4 sequel I've been begging for for a year. : )

@wildvine: Just you wait until you see Bruce Banner which Ive nearly finished which also touches on the F4 :)

And I'm working on a world where you'll get to see more as well

I'm about to read this, but how did you get your links to turn blue, instead of green? I'm only asking, because last time that happened, my computer had a virus. :{

Okay, it's not a virus, but still, how did you get your links to turn blue? :)

And now that I've read it, Doom as Mandarin seems...anti-climactic. Doom without his armor is like The Spirit without his domino mask. Still, it's a good twist. :)

@cbishop: The blue is...magic, yeah magic! (No idea, just cutting and pasting and viola blue)

It's the man and not the armour that makes Doom in my opinion. The armour lets you recognise it's him instantly but it's Doom's will and determination and arrogance that make him well HIM! Besides it's Victor with Mandarin's origin story and so far everyone's favourite Latverian is doing a better job than Mandarin did :)

@batkevin74: I'm not suggesting he has to have the armor- just that it's weird to think of him without it. As far as the comic version is concerned, the armor is Doom. At any rate, I think your guy needs a mask of some kind to hide the scar- his vanity is what led to him putting the red hot iron mask on his face before it cooled, disfiguring him further. ...Although, with that kind of vanity, it never made any sense that Doom didn't pursue plastic surgery to repair his face...unless he just couldn't bear the thought of giving up his personal control to doctors for a brief time.

Also, to me, Doom never seemed more of a threat than when he had the Beyonder's power in Secret Wars, and repaired his face, appearing without his mask. As I recall, it freaked Reed Richards out too.

@cbishop: Different universe, different Doom, different power set and different origin. Besides, I think I may have plans for maybe the Mandarin getting Doom's armour in an origin swap.

Besides in 1402, though he was called Otto, he was maskless...but he wasn't scarred hmmm. Anyways my Doom is proud of his scar and hides from nobody!

Nice chapter! I love Doom. (Not the movie. =P)
