Basic premise: Stryfe cut a deal with Mr. Sinister in order to become virtually ageless and received a massive power increase that made him the most powerful telekinetic and telepathic mutant on Earth. Afterwards he used telepathic manipulation to gain control of several of the most powerful corporations on the planet and silently took firm economic control over the U.S.
From there he formed Ferrum Corp, a multinational organization that dominates the business world. He then used various defense contracts that allowed him to create the Iron Army which was based primarily on the technology he acquired from taking over Stark Industries along with various other forms of tech.
Eventually the Iron Army became the dominant force in both military defense and law enforcement. It wasn't long after that most of the world willingly allowed the Iron Army into their nations. Stryfe eventually took control of most of the world and set up many puppet governments in place of the old ones. Only the people who came under the protection of Dr. Doom remained free of them and these nations merged to become New Latveria.
There is more to it than that and it will be elaborated on in future chapters.
Stryfe being a mutant is not publicly known, nor is it public knowledge that the Chairman of Ferrum Inc and the leader of the Iron Army are the same person. Stryfe holds dual identities of the Chairman and The Supreme Commander of the Iron Army. His dual identities and status as a mutant are possibly the most closely guarded secrets in this world.
Most of the heroes and villains were hunted down and killed long ago and mutants are hunted down and those Sinister finds useful are sent to his labs as part of the deal made with Stryfe the rest are executed rendering the mutants a fugitive race.
The world is now mostly a totalitarian order but does allow the illusion of freedom, just enough to keep people docile.
Structure:
Ferrum Inc. Runs most of the scientific research and development on the planet in every facet of life from entertainment to quantum physics and everything in between. Other companies are forced to either work under them or be wiped out. It is known as a hot bed of Corporate maneuvering and power plays.
Mr. Sinister who goes under the name Dr. Essex runs his own autonomous division of the company dedicated solely to genetic research and has used this to develop his own private army of genetically engineered creatures loyal only to him. Tho he does share some of his work with the rest of the company his deal with Stryfe renders him free of any actual control.
The home office is in Chicago which has become the largest and most advanced city on Earth and is considered by many to be the true center of power throughout the world.
North America now consists of 12 large cities with all agricultural needs handled on completely automated farms just outside the city limits and several smaller factory towns in between but most of the land between the cities, called the Wilds, is pretty much abandoned and most has become overgrown forested areas and ghost towns inhabited completely by people deemed unacceptable by society such as mutants and those unwilling to live by Ferrum and the Iron Army's rules.
The Wilds are mostly lawless and primitive with only a few Iron Army outposts while the cities are advanced and orderly.
The Iron Army is run by Strye's alter ego the Supreme Commander, the chain of command is set up pretty much the same as the U.S. army. There are multiple divisions with varying armor designs depending on the function of the division.
L. L.E. or Local Law Enforcement divisions are pretty much the police force equipped with relatively low power armor and are charged with keeping the peace among the average civilians.
F.L.E. or Federal Law Enforcement division handles pretty much whatever the F.B.I. is responsible for currently and have slightly more powerful armor than the L.L.E.
S.I. or Standard Infantry division are the regular soldiers with armor capabilities that vary depending on rank. While most lower ranks have armor similar to the L.L.E. or F.L.E. as the ranks increase the armor improves.
Expressmen division are soldiers who are used for the sole purpose of protecting transportation outside the cities such as trains and truck convoys. They wear armor built primarily for speed.
Hunter divisions are soldiers trained and specially equipped to hunt and kill mutants and others with super human abilities. Their armor is among the most powerful of the standard issue variety.
Buster division they wear modified Hulk Buster armor and are only called in when situations are beyond the capabilities of the Hunters.
The step above Buster divisions are Sentinel divisions which are actual Sentinels.
There are other more specialized divisions which will be elaborated on in future chapters.
Sinister's army known as the Stalkers are comprised of the DNA of some of the most dangerous mutants in the world and bred in Sinister's labs. The primary hunter/killers of this army are known as the Creeds, they are all genetic descendants of Victor Creed A.K.A. Sabertooth but they also have DNA from various feral mutants and super humans such as Tigress from the Avengers.
The rest of the world aside from New Latveria is set up much the same as North America.
The Opposition
New Latveria is the primary opposing force to the Iron Army. It has remained ruled by Doom who has managed to keep himself alive through means I will explain later. Doom is still ruthless and ego maniacal but he no longer rules with the same Iron fist he once did. New Latveria is now seen as a haven of freedom for those who oppose the Iron army and the only part of the world where it is safe to be a mutant. Doom is now a figure of near religious reverence in his nation.
The area that separates New Latveria known as the Chechyen DMZ stretches from the sea of Japan to the eastern border of Poland encompassing many small countries. It borders on China and much of the Middle East. This area is a Warzone that has been destroyed by 150 years of near constant combat between New Latveria and The Iron Army. Those that live within the DMZ have the worst living conditions possible and are plagued by illness and horrible mutation due to the fall out from various weapons used by the forces they're trapped between. Its basically hell on Earth.
The British Isles are now completely enclosed behind The Great Sea Wall which was built to prevent any escape. The Isles themselves have been turned into a massive prison colony after the war with New Latveria left it unlivable prior to the formation of the DMZ.
The Second biggest force of opposition is the Nation of the Plains, it is comprised of a unification of the Native American tribes of North America who took back most of the land in the south western U.S. and Northern Mexico when people abandoned it for the cities.
SHIELD- The organization was officially disbanded by the U.N. when Stryfe took over but many of the agents took the organization underground to become a major resistance force.
The Spiders- This is considered a terrorist organization by the Iron Army, they are people were inspired by the death of Peter Parker at the hands of Iron Soldiers to resist them. The organization was founded by the children of Spider-Man, Spider-Woman and those most closely tied to them. They are led by Madame Web a title that is passed on from generation to generation.
The Goblins- This is a group of thugs and bandits inspired by the Green Goblin. They are more criminals than actual resistance group. They are considered a nuisance to Shield and the Iron army and have an openly hostile relationship with the Spiders.
