X Factor-Part One:
Jamie Madrox sits in his office. His feet are up on his desk, and he listens carefully to every word she says.
WOMAN: I know it was a mutant. I just know it. Look, I saw an ad for your firm in the paper, and I thought I might give you a try, you know?
MADROX(Internal Monologue): My names Jamie Madrox. Madrox will do just fine. They call me and my crew X Factor investigations. You see, we inspect what others would call "evil mutants." I have a crew of five people helping me out with my investigations.
WOMAN: The bastard mutant killed my son. Set him on fire or something.
At this, Madrox takes his feet off his desk, and leans over.
MADROX: And you're sure it's a mutant?
MADROX(Internal Monologue): There's me. I have the mutant ability to make duplicates of myself
WOMAN: Positive. A mutant killed my son, and I want justice.
The woman stands up, and leans over the desk. Face to face with Madrox. Her cheeks are still red with tears.
WOMAN:Can you help me, or not?
MADROX(Internal Monologue): There's Havok. Nobody knows much about HIM. He was just a mutant in need, with nowhere to go. I offered him the job, and he took it. He has the ability to absorb energy and shoot it out as waves of energy. Turns into stuff like plasma and the like.
Madrox stands up, and turns around. He looks out the window, snapping down one of the blinds.
MADROX: I'll see what I can do.
The woman grabs a tissue off of Madrox's desk, dabbing at her eyes. She then walks to the door, and pauses. Saying one last thing before leaving
WOMAN: A mutant killed my son. And I'm sick of mutants!
The woman slams the door behind her.
MADROX(Internal Monologue): We have Shatterstar, a gladiator from another dimension called mojoworld. He's here with Longshot, also from another dimension he was genetically engineered. He can manipulate luck and has superhuman agility. All of us have one thing in common.
Madrox presses a button on his phone, and with a beeping noise, a voice answers.
VOICE: What is it, Jaimie?
MADROX: I told you, Jaimie, I'M Madrox, YOU'RE Jamie. We have to do this to avoid suspicion.
JAIMIE: What is it, you want....Madrox?
MADROX: Get the team together. We're having a group meeting.
Madrox hangs up the phone, and, while focusing, creates four more duplicates.
MADROX: each of you find one member of the team, and bring them here.
MADROX(Internal Monologue): We all have one thing in common. We're what homo sapiens refer to as homo superior......we are mutants.
