I love the old DCU; I also like some of the characters in the DCnU. I’m just wondering, what if we write a story that would merge some characters of the DCU and DCnU into one universe, with several of them interacting with other superheroes from different eras, thereby retconning their history and making them all exist in an amalgamated timeline.
What if we put all our efforts together by encouraging everyone to contribute and share their inputs so we could accomplish this project? Perhaps, we can consider this as a community undertaking. And if there’s a conflict that needs to be resolved and there are several solutions being offered, then I suggest we put all the recommendations into a vote. This we do, so that even those who could not write would have also made their contributions in the development of the narrative. Then we can conclude that truly, the final story would be the product of our entire collective endeavor.
I hope the DC top honchos would consider adopting our story and make a graphic novel or animated movie based from our combined output. I think if we make our story a compelling read, written by hundreds of contributors and endorsed by thousands of DC readers… maybe then, DC Editors might contemplate doing it for us and grant our wishes – for us the loyal DC fans.
Aside from contributors/writers, we would also need the services of editors. And even artists as well, to draw all the different characters, teams and scenarios in the proposed story so that we could visually appreciate all the things that we imagine and that could only be realized in our minds.
So let’s attempt and accomplish a mission impossible by throwing in all our ideas to come up with a cohesive story and a credible plot. I will start the ball rolling by stating a general scenario; from thereon it’s already a free for all. What say you?
Elseworld, Darkseid has conquered Earth and held the leaders of different nations as hostages during the attack on UN General Assembly. While Darkseid dominates the world, supervillains have exploited humankind’s precarious condition to their benefit -- raiding the treasuries of different countries and enriching themselves with stolen wealth. As a result, famines, diseases and injustices have spread throughout the different countries
Despots also took advantage of the situation; tyrants from some nations have invaded their neighboring states and expanded their existing territories. War erupted everywhere. Tensions escalated all over the globe - military repelling alien invaders and militia rising up against foreign intruders. Earth’s inhabitants’ total annihilation from nuclear, chemical and biological attacks was imminent. Chaos and anarchy have subsequently reigned upon the entire planet.
As the world lies in ruins and as millions of its people suffer, the Legion of Doom seized the opportunity to hatch a strategy to take over the planet and wrest control from Darkseid. Lex Luthor presented himself as the world’s messiah. Earth’s people believed and have put their faith and hope to Lex Luthor, thinking that his Legion of Doom could be their liberators against the forces of Darkseid. The Legion of Doom has succeeded in getting the trust and support of Earth’s population. However, infighting within the Legion of Doom has affected its own world domination agenda.
Gorilla Grodd was scheming and made a devious plot to divide the Legion of Doom by sowing intrigues among his comrades-in-arms. He betrayed Brainiac and disputed Luthor’s leadership. These and other ploys he undertook so he could eventually rule over them.
Meanwhile, Ra Als Ghul launched a simultaneous attack against the Justice League. In other parts of the globe, Earth’s different superhero aggrupation have been busy recruiting every available metahuman to help in their efforts in maintaining peace and order around the world. Some superhero groups have realigned their allegiances, reinforced and expanded their teams, and renamed their new alliances, thus born the different Justice Teams. Likewise, the Green Lantern Corps and the Legion of Superheroes have come to support Earth’s different Justice Teams by engaging Darkseid’s minions.
And what a coincidence! While the Green Lantern Corps and the Legion of Superheroes battle Darkseid’s underlings and other menaces, oppressors from the past and their legions have time travelled to the present, together with the dark forces of magic from another realm, to wreak havoc on this planet. And this further aggravates the sufferings and sacrifices of the people. Battle is being fought in all fronts. It’s an all-out war for survival, and for many ordinary citizens this is the ultimate crisis.
Amidst the turmoil and pandemonium, the struggle for justice and liberation has begun. All the different superhero teams have joined forces to put up a unified resistance group called “Justice Unlimited”. Each Justice Team was assigned a specific mission and was all spread thinly across the globe.
While the campaign for freedom and equality advances, the scattered forces of Justice Unlimited have their hands full and are now confronted with alien foes, opposed by supervillains, provoked by super natural beings, defied by mercenary armies and terrorists, threatened by mobs of hungry and angry civilians. The one billion dollar bounty put up by Luthor on each head of the Justice Unlimited members made the situation even more complicated.
In a surprise turn of events, the Joker’s maniacal act shocks everyone. He intends to get rid of Darkseid, the Justice Unlimited, even the Legion of Doom by unleashing all the nuclear, biological and chemical weapons found in the different storage across the globe. Mankind’s obliteration is looming. Time is ticking.
And as the different Justice Teams responded to various emergency situations, they have realized that Earth’s condition worsens every minute, even as they render aid to its people. Fatality and futility are like plagues that continue to devour mankind. Tragedy, torment, torture and threats are like ghosts that keep haunting the Justice Unlimited.
What would it take to defeat the overwhelming odds against the Justice Unlimited? Will heroism triumph or will the Earth’s mightiest superheroes succumb to desperateness and despair, and totally surrender their hope to doom?
With all the dejections and tribulations engulfing humankind, Earth’s greatest superheroes biggest challenge lies not only in combatting crimes and injustices against humanity but more so in fighting to preserve man’s humanity.
