How To Write Spider-Man

So I am currently working on my own Spider-Man Fic for this site, titled 'Spider-Man: Evolution' and whilst I am still tossing around ideas, I haven't decided on much.

I think that too many people focus on reinventing the wheel. What is it that brought me to Spiderman initially, what made him different from every other superhero on the block (at least the mainstream ones) that I could get into? He had a sense of humor, he was vulnerable at times, but he always overcame the odds. I think that is the interesting thing about Spidey

@thedemogoblin: I used Batkevin's Spiderman style for my own tale staring him and got some good comments on how he was written. It's definitely worth checking it out.

This is a really great Spider-Man fanfic, and I really liked how the writer introduced the characters via flashbacks. You reckon it'd be wrong for me to be inspired and use that idea of having Peter monologue and introduce some flashbacks? Or would that be flat out stealing?
