Ok so I'm a little nervous to send this out this has been an idea of mine since DC Universe Online came out a year ago. The story has been in my head but it has not been until recently that I decided to write an outline on it. It's a little rough and kind of long but I have got positive reviews from my friends at home and I would like to know what true comic fans think about the concept or if it is something if dialogue is created someone would enjoy reading. All reviews will be taken into consideration thanks again!
Main Character Charles Graham
I. Early child hood
A. Charles gives a description of his family (John and Mary) living in square
a. Father is a Cop stands about 6 feet with dark hair crew cut and a mustache
b. Mother is a stay at home mom tending to the house and taking care of Charles. She has blonde hair stands about 5’5” and soft spoken
B. Early teen years becomes rebellious in school and is a bully beating kids up
a. Almost gets expelled but dad gets him out of trouble
b. Big argument at home about what happened John doesn’t want to see Charles grow up like that
1. Charles reflects thinking it was a call that he missed spending time with his dad like they use to when he was younger
2. is worse that what it was before and John needs to work longer hours at the station
3. Time passes and the two make amends Charles tells his dad he misses him and John tells him to stay strong that he might have a new position soon that will allow him to have more stable hours
4. One day after school Charles runs home to get away from the bad kids he was hanging out with at school
1. Sees an ad on television about a new boxing gym opening. Charles is intrigued and tells his parents about it.
2. Mary is unsure of it but John said they would discuss it
5. About a week after John pulls up to the school unexpected and they drive to the gym
1. Meet Rick Marino a small time professional boxer who was childhood friends with John and sign Charles up for junior boxing with lessons from Rick
2. It is here that John tells Charles he got the promotion to a desk job and is off the streets.
C. Fast forward to Senior Year of High School
a. Things have been going great the past 4 years
1. John is at home more and Charles has taken a knack for boxing
2. Summer before senior year Charles competes in the Gotham City Golden Glove competition at 5’10” 165lbs Middleweight
1. Wins his weight class with ease
2. Rick wants Charles to go pro but he wants to go to college and get a degree
3. Winter of senior year Charles is coming back from the gym
1. Sees aunt car and goes inside
2. Finds out John died of a heart attack at work today
4. World goes tumbling down in disbelief that his dad died
1. The funeral service was shortly after
2. Cops like Detective James Gordon come up to Charles telling him that his dad was a good man and good cop
5. Next couple months are hard in school and Charles grades begin to slip.
1. The Mary and Charles moved from to the since John’s income is not there anymore
a. Mary takes on a witnessing job at a Diner to support her and Charles
2. Still finishes graduating but doesn’t know what he wants to do or if he wants to go to college
a. He sees the crime going on in the and thinks about his father and when he was little he would ask his dad if he caught any bad guys.
6. Charles decides he wants to make better like his dad and enrolls to the
II. Gotham City Police Department
A. Gotham City Police Academy
a. Charles focuses and works diligently in the Academy
7. Ends up being one of the top recruits of the Academy breaking many records and showing the best scores on test
b. Graduates academy in two years top of the class
1. Chooses to serve in the 9 precinct in the
c. Serves as a street cop with partner Art Miller
1. Graham is a good and clean cop that only wants justice to be served to those who were committing crimes
2. Apart of some major arrest of members of Tobias Whale's gang on the East End
d. After 3 years on the streets, Graham was promoted to a detective in the major crimes unit after the death of Detective Nate Patton
D. Detective Charles Graham
a. Graham is partnered with Detective Mike O’Brien
1. O’Brien is a lazy cop who doesn’t do much during much for investigation or detective work
1. Graham is annoyed by this but does not stop him and his exceptional cop work
b. The two are responsible for the arrest of Tobias Whale
1. Would later be sentenced to 5 years at Blackgate prison
E. One dark Halloween
a. Graham and O’Brien are at there desk doing some paper work
b. Detective Graham was getting much praise in the office for the arrest of Tobias Whale
1. Graham’s phone goes off with a tip that something might go down at the
2. Graham doesn’t bother to ask O’Brien to come along but says to keep his phone on him that he was going to check something out at the docks
c. When Graham arrives at the dock, things are shady and Graham pursues into the docks
d. In there he sees multiple tankers being moved about
1. A figure shows up and it is Scarecrow
2. He is talking on the phone telling that the shipment has arrived
1. Scarecrow had a plan of poisoning ’s water with his fear toxin
3. Graham tries to call O’Brien for backup.. Phone is busy and in the process, Graham bumps into a canister
e. Everyone hears and pursues Detective Graham who was able to get away without being caught
1. In the mean time, Batman comes in to finish Scarecrow
f. As Graham is heading back to the station he is pulled over
1. He is told that he is needs to be questioned about what happened tonight
2. Scarecrow has claimed that Detective Graham has been is source in getting his toxins into
3. Graham denies this but is placed under arrest for potentially assisting in an attack on
F. Trial
a. Scarecrow and multiple scarecrow goons testify that Graham was the key factor of what happened with documents and video surveillance showing Graham at the docks
b. The evidence is stacked against Graham who is arrested and sentence to 25 years of prison for the assistance of an attack on .
1. Graham was 25 when he was sent to prison
c. Graham is sent to Blackgate Prison, a penitentiary that holds many street thugs Graham has put away including Tobias Whale
G. A friend in Prison
a. Grahams bunk mate is Brian Durlin who doesn’t say much
1. First couple months are hard for Graham who gets into many scuffles with thugs who he has put away
2. One night Graham is surrounded by 5 of Whales goons who were in prison. Graham is able to take them all down sloppily but catches the attention of his bunkmate
1. Durlin asks why he is in prison and graham tells him for the assistance of a massive attack on gotham but it’s not true
2. He swears to Durlin that if he ever gets out of Blackgate that he will go at nothing to find out the truth of what happened that night
b. Durlin tells Graham that he first needs to learn to survive in this prison and that if he follows what Durlin says that it would get him closer to his goal.
1. Graham aggress
c. The two begin to train immediately using alternative techniques due to no physical fighting can be allowed
1. Things such as weight training a pull up bar for acrobatics and running on the yard are used
2. Every fight that breaks out on the yard Graham uses it as an opportunity to sharpen up his combat skills that were taught on air
3. Attacks from Whales goons continue periodically but after Graham makes a visit with Tobias beating Whale up the attacks are called off
d. Over the next 10 years Durlin continues to teach Graham fighting styles and multiple techniques for assessing a situation
1. Durlin eventually tells Graham that he was once the vigilante Savant who fought crime across the world
2. He was arrested for a murder of a young woman but never says if he did it or not do it
3. When 10 years goes by Graham is allowed his first attempt to leave prison early for good behavior and is granted
1. Before Graham leaves Durlin tells him that he can’t do it alone and when he gets settled to contact Oracle and gives him a card
H. The world has changed
a. Many things have changed since Grahams time in prison
1. Graham's Mother died while he was incarcerated she left what little money she had for him in a small deposit box in gotham Bank.
b. Graham rents a small apartment in due to how cheap the place is
1. Crime in was even worse that what it was 10 years ago
c. With what little money he has Graham buys a used black motorcycle for travel through
d. Graham stops by library to read some of the periodicals on major events that have occurred in gotham as well as looking to find more information on The Scarecrow
I. A meeting with the Oracle
a. Graham goes to the address that Durlin has given him
b. A women (Barbra Gordon) answers the door and Graham ask to come in
1. She is hesitant since she does not know him but shortly allows him in
c. He tells her that he is looking for an Oracle that Savant has sent him
d. Shortly after a scuffle breaks between a girl (The Huntress) and Graham
1. The two duke it out and Graham is holding his own against the girl showing that he is a skilled fighter
e. Oracle calls Huntress off and ask Graham why he has come
1. “For answers”
f. Graham briefly tells of his situation and Oracle feels a small amount of sympathy for the guy and tells him to follow her
g. She says she does not have much to offer but a couple gadgets and proto type gear but he is welcomed to it
1. List includes: A gliding trench coat made for the 1 Question, A black ops Kevlar tunic made for Robin, Pouched Kevlar pants, Gloves and boots batman never used, A domino mask with inferred scanner built in them, a couple batarangs, stun gun, and a bat claw
h. Oracle tells Graham once he leaves to not come back and if he tells anyone about what he now knows that he will wish he never came
J. The birth of A new Vigilante
a. Grahams first line of business is to find out what happened that night with Scarecrow. With a little intimidation of thugs on the street thinking Graham worked for Batman he finds out that Scarecrow recently escaped Arkham Aslyum and he was staying at a rickety shack farm in the off skirts of
b. Graham investigates the scene and Scarecrow is there surprised that the Batman has not showed up instead. He thinks it is a joke and tries to fear Graham. Graham disappears into the darkness and tells Scarecrow to tell him what happened that night on the docks 10 years ago.
1. Scarecrow tries to intimidate him asking him what is his biggest fear and that perhaps Scarecrow was his fear to show up like this
2. Graham glides in kicking Scarecrow in the back. Using his stun gun Graham hits Scarecrow causing a short paralysis
1. At this time Graham cuffs Crane and tells him to tell him who his he was talking to
3. More brutal than Batman he begins to punch Scarecrow repeatedly in the face
1. Scarecrow finally gives in and tells Graham that the Penguin was his source that he was working on a project for him but he wouldn’t tell Graham what that project was.
2. Graham punches Scarecrow knocking him out un cuffing him on his way to The Iceberg Lounge
K. A trip to the Iceberg Lounge
a. Graham continues his search to find out who framed him 10 years ago
1. He initially takes a visit to the Ice Berg lounge as himself to scope out the area
2. He finds out through some of the people in the club that Oswald normally stays in his VIP lounge most evenings entertaining the rich of .
b. Graham returns as the club in his gear shortly after it closed for the night
c. Enters the Ice Berg lounge but needs to be careful
1. Security is tight in the building
2. Graham quietly takes out a couple guards here and there making it to Penguins VIP lounge
3. He is waiting for Graham with his umbrella gun shooting at Graham he dodges the fire but in the process get hit in the arm with a bullet
d. Graham and Penguin talk Penguin mocking this new vigilante calling him a fake Batman
1. Tells Graham that he is sloppy that batman would have been able to dodge that bullet
e. Wounded Graham shoots up to the ceiling hiding from Penguin
f. Penguin sends more guards to find The Informer and he takes them out with ease
g. Penguin begins to run to the door to get away but Graham swoops down hitting Penguin causing him to drop his umbrella
h.Graham drags the penguin to a table where he cuffs him
i. His patience is low and asks Penguin what he was doing with Scarecrow
1. Penguin tells him to piss off and Charles breaks one of his flippers
1. “I have five more tell me what I need to know
2. Informer breaks a second flipper before he finally tells him
j. Penguin was contacted by a guy who remained anonymous he wore a black suit with a red tie black mask with bright white goggles for eyes
k. Penguin tells him that this Anonymous guy barged into his club with a couple goons long ago holding blackmail on him. He was told to keep a clean nose and sponsor Scarecrow on some project that Crane called “His Greatest Creation”
l. Graham asks how to contact this Anonymous guy but he says he does not know. He just shows up when he needs to.
L. An encounter with a Bat
a. As Graham heads out the Iceberg Lounge a Batarang is thown next to his head with a message saying “We need to talk”
b. Graham heads to the roof top to find no one but a voice speaking
c. The Batman tells Graham that he needs to stop before him or someone else gets hurt
1. Graham tries to tell him that he is on the lead to something on this Anonymous figure and his plan
2. Batman disregards it saying that there are other problems going on and that he could be chasing something that isn’t real.
3. Batman said he would look into it but Graham needs to stop
4. Before batman leaves he tells him to go to a Leslie Thompkins to get that arm treated
d. Graham stops at Thompkins facility where she removes the bullet and stitches Graham up
M. Wild goose chase?
a. Time passes and no leads are coming up stressing Graham with the thought that this may not be real
b. One night Charles was on route through The East End stopping a gun robbery from happening on the street
1. The Thug scared said he would do anything but please not to hurt him
2. He ask if he knows who is Anonymous and the Thug slips
3. Says that he’s a low profile guy in planning something big said he was meeting with his gang tonight to finalize the plan
c. Anonymous
1. Graham goes to the location the thug gave him
2. There he see’s the guy that Penguin had described
1. He was giving an overview of the plan Saturday night
2. He didn’t say much just making sure plans stayed accordingly
3. Graham could not just bum rush the meeting or he would surly be dead so he stayed high above trying to get as much detail as possible
4. Graham followed the car Anonymous got into no too far away from the meeting place
1. To his surprise the man that got out was none other than his former partner Mike O’Brien
2. He was staying at the
5. Graham snuck into O’Briens apartment to be caught by O’Briens two big body guards Boris and Victor
6. The 2 tie Graham to the chair as O’Brien comes out
d. Says he has a lot of nerve breaking into a Policemen’s home that he has the right to do anything in his power of reason
e. Aims a gun at Graham but thinks it would be more fun to see who was the man behind the mask. He does not recognize the man until Graham reminds him
f. Laughing he gives him credit for finding out his true identity and tells him how he’s been such a pain in the ass over the years
1. Figures it doesn’t hurt to tell Graham of his plan and the fear virus that Crane has been working on the past 15 years but because Graham screwed up plans by showing up at the docks things got pushed back much longer
2. This fear virus is not like Cranes typical gas that would spread across the world until everyone would die from insanity or bow to his mercy for a cure
3. O’Brien is in a way happy that Graham showed up to the docks that night. He tells he old partner that he was the one who was able to send Graham away in prison and forged all the information and told Scarecrow personally to address the matter in court
4. In a sense it was great the way it turned out because if it wasn’t for Graham barging in like that, it wouldn’t have given O’Brien the chance to grow in power like he did and soon the world will fear him
5. He warns Graham that even if the ceremony is stopped in any way shape or form that he will detonate the virus without hesitation
g. To not cause a scene O’Brien opens the window and tells Graham that it doesn’t matter because there is nothing that he can do to stop it and pushes him out the window
h. Graham is able to break free and grapple to safety
N. A visit to a familiar place
a. Graham goes to the GCPD to give a warning to Commissioner Gordon. Graham was wearing a wire on him when he was in O'Brien's apartment.
1. Gordon thinks that it is Batman but just tells Gordon that he’s an Informant with some vital information
1. He tells Gordon and he decides to use the Bat signal to call batman
2. Batman arrives and his tone can address that he is upset that Graham is still doing what he is doing
3. Graham had a bug on him when he was in O’Brien’s apartment and tells of his plan
4. The 3 men ponder to this fear virus that is created
1. The Informer tells the two men that it will happen Saturday night a ceremony.
a. Gordon points out that is the night that Mayor Wilson Klass is having his address for his re-election as mayor
b. Gordon will advise more security
c. Batman will make a visit to Scarecrow to find out more information
i. Batman tells The Informer to go home that his job is done
b. Saturday arrives and Graham is watching the coverage for Mayor
c. He cannot stay back and let something happen to gotham so he decides to suit up and give watchful eyes to the event
O. The Mayor’s speech
a. As the mayor is doing his speech a line he says is “ has nothing to fear no man weather it be a thug or Batman. We shall overcome”
1. It clicks in Grahams head that was the trigger word that O’Brien emphasized how will Fear him
2. Graham swoops down to push the mayor out of the way “BANG”
3. Batman uses a radar jammer to block the remote device from setting off when Graham pushed the mayor away
1. Batman is able to track the bullet and stop the Anonymous villain
4. Graham suffered a shot to the chest from a armor piercing bullet
1. He is pronounced dead.
5. In a press conference shortly after Commissioner Gordon tells that Anonymous, Detective Mike O’Brien planed a global attack on the world with a fear virus that Dr. Jonathan Crane created
1. It is revealed that the GCPD had an Informer who was Detective Charles Graham
a. Gordon tells the press that he was a framed man that O’Brien forged documents on him that caused him to be arrested. If it wasn’t for his facts that he found out about O’Brien, would not be here.
P. In honor of a hero
a. To honor everything that Graham had done for the city of Gotham his name was cleansed of the “corruption” that stood behind it along with a monument created at the 9 precinct that Graham served in the East end. The small statue shows the outline of a badge with triangular eyes like his domino mask. Around it had the message “To Protect and Serve” “In honor of Detective Charles Graham. A good man and a better cop.”
