Hello and Welcome to the Fan-Fic Section!
FAQ
What can I post here?
The title of this section ("Fan-Fic") often makes people think that they can only post stories related to comics or other commercial properties. However, we encourage people to post anything, especially original content (as long as it follows the forum rules). Think of this section as the writer's version of the Artist Show-Off.
Rules
We don't have many rules in the FF section, but here are the four you must follow at all times:
1) NEVER Post material of a sexual nature or swear
You are required to follow Site Rules and FAQs even in your stories (anyone who wants to complain about the hampering of creative genius is invited to post elsewhere).
2) NEVER Post anything intensely violent
When we say intensely violent, we mean INTENSELY violent. If you going into great detail and long paragraphs dedicated entirely on how Hannibal Lecter kills and eats people then you might get a warning (and I mean GREAT detail). But this is a rule intended for the most extreme of circumstances. If you are concerned about a specific story then you may PM a moderator and we will address your concerns. However, in most circumstances this is not a problem.
3) NEVER Plagiarize
Plagiarism is considered the copying, in total or in part, of author's work without clear attribution. If you are posting someone else's story, you must have the author's express permission to do so. They must know you are posting their work here.
Also you if you are writing a story based on the users of CV then you MUST get those named users's permission. If a user withdraws their permission for your usage of their name then you will be asked to edit them out or have your threads locked as this might be seen as harassment which is against site rules. Of course a ruling on this subject is done via a case by case basis.
While we do want to see you shine through your original fiction here, please keep in mind that this is the Internet. If someone steals your idea, it is plagiarism! So if you think you have the greatest idea since Batman or The Lord of the Rings, you should protect it accordingly, and that is solely up to you.
AND 4) NEVER Post stories...
...that use the works of: Anne Rice, Anne McCaffrey, Mercedes Lackey, or Raymond E. Feist. They have super-lawyers and do not allow the posting of fan fiction on regulated websites.
Ok? Huzzah.
