Terror Castle. Three days ago. 10:52 PM.

June Moon looked out the minivan's window to see the large, spiraling castle. Three stories tall with enough rooms to film a good six different horror movies simultaneously, the unowned mansion was scary- VERY scary.

Sighing, June turned her head to look at her friends. "Do we have to do thi-"

She was interrupted by Becky, her closest friend. "Yeah- duh. You lost the bet fair and square." Becky grinned as the car rolled up, Becky's older sister driving- June and Becky were both only thirteen. Sighing, June picked up her sleeping bag and zipped up her jacket. It was going to be a long night.

Last week, Becky and June were making a bet to see who could get Josh- the most attractive boy in school- to go out with them. Becky won. June still thought it was because Becky slipped Josh a twenty dollar bill. But they both promised that didn't happen. The punishment, spend a night in Terror Castle. The place was mostly safe- after all, any reasonable adult knew there were no such things as ghosts, or monsters. But June wasn't a reasonable adult. Pushing a lock of long brown hair from her face, she walked up to the door.

"We'll be back in the morning, kay June?" Becky yelled out of the car window. June simply rolled her eyes and put up her thumb. She remembered the excuse she gave her parents- a sleepover at Becky's house. That was fine with them. Walking into the house, she shivered- it was drafty, and pitch black. If she was smart she would've simply slept there, by the door, curled up and alone. But something caught her eye, a blue tint in the hall to her left.

Stepping toward the tint, she scolded herself mentally for letting such a large creak get out. But there was no stopping it. Taking a few more steps she screamed as a mouse ran past her legs, it's fur pressing up against her converse shoes as it squealed with her. Get a hold of yourself, Juney... She thought. Juney was what her mother called her. Childish, sure- but right now she needed some comforting. Pulling out her phone, she used it's screen to light the way better, continuing to go toward the blue tint of light at the end of the hall.

When she reached the end, she froze. There June was, in a giant hall, with a huge statue of a demon holding two trays- both with blue flame in them. But what shocked her more, was the man in the blue fedora and cloak, standing in front of it. Staring at her. Beckoning her.

"Who are you?" June said, her voice cracking as she stepped toward the stranger. However, as soon as she opened her mouth, he vanished in a cloud of smoke- a book where he stood. Walking toward it, she reached down and grabbed the book- dust coating it. Gently brushing it down with her jacket sleeve, she flipped the page open, reading with her green eyes.

Flipping through the book, she soon found it was filled with made up words and garbage. Sighing, she turned the page once more to see a large pentagram on the paper. Widening her eyes, she found she could make out the words encircling the pentagram.

Speaking aloud to break the silence, she read-

"For those who seek witchcraft and lore, come to the palace of Nzamor..." June read quietly. "Great, more nonse-" She started, but froze. The huge statue of the demon in front of her was slowly moving. Cracking could be heard as the stone snapped, light shining from inside. Backing up, June stared up at it in terror, too scared to move as she tripped and fell.

Breaking through the stone emerged an enormous replica of the demon it held. Large fangs the size of June growled. Pupil-less eyes glowed yellow, and golden wristbands had carvings of old Bible stories upon them. The monster looked at her, folding it's huge blood red arms and snarling as it stared down on her.

"I, Nzamor, have been summoned." He said, slowly, as if it had been a century since he spoke last. Which, it probably had. "You... A mere child. You have dared to summon me, like some kind of pawn?" The giant beast snarled.

June, too scared to speak, merely nodded gently.

"Bah! I will crush you into oblivion, fool!" He boomed, his words shaking the castle walls as he raised his fist. However, he stopped. Staring at her. "Wait..." Lowering his fist gently, he narrowed his eyes. "Your soul. It is pure. Hm... Ok, child, since you have a heart worthy of the greatest kings, I will offer you a choice." Nzamor said carefully. A mirror appeared in front of June, letting her see just how terrified she was.

"You may either die and serve life in a thousand different layers of hell, or... you may take upon the duties of the Enchantress. Guardian of justice." The mirror image changed, green light flashing as a tall woman with a green cloak stood in the same position June was. It took the poor girl a full minute to realize it was her. Just as an adult. Trippy.

Finally, June made her decision- dying didn't sound like part of the second option. "Sure, I'll do t-the witchy thing." She gulped, looking up at the demon innocently.

"Very well. You shall recognize your duties when you make the first transformation. Merely utter the word- Enchantress. If you decide to never fulfill these duties, you shall be executed and forced to live the life of a lost soul." He growled as he snapped his fingers. Green mist circled around June, before it covered her view. Blinded, she tried to wave away the mist, failing at first. But eventually it faded away, and she stood facing the statue. Carefully walking up to it, she knocked on the stone a couple times. regretting it immediately after. Stone hurt knuckles.

June stood there for a minute. Wondering exactly what to do. Eventually, she decided to try out the thing the demon told her to do.

"What was it... something witchy... enchanter... No, it was Enchantress!" Snapping her fingers, she saw the green mist surround her again, and she was blinded. Again she attempted to wave it away, to no success.

When the mist did leave her, she was- tall. At least, taller than she was originally. And her hair, longer than before. On her wrists, different bands of jewelry wrapped neatly around in circles. She felt- quite simply put- powerful. Like she could do anything. This wasn't bad at all! Why would anyone ever refuse this? Laughing, she clapped her hands- instantly stopping her laugh when blasts of energy emerged from her enclosed palms. A green fiery ball hit the statue square in the chest, but didn't seem to do much damage.

Stepping back lightly, the new Enchantress looked around- seeing the book she had dropped. The words were perfectly clear. "The Power of Nzamor..." She read the title, opening the book. Amazingly, it explained everything to her. How to perform spells, what her job was as Enchantress. Everything.

She fell asleep reading, and in the morning, when her friends came to pick her up, she hid the book. No longer afraid of Terror Castle, she stepped into the minivan lightheartedly.

"How was your stay?" Becky grinned curiously, bumping her shoulder.

"Eh, pretty boring. I even learned a thing or two." June nodded as the car rolled off.

___

So, for the next few nights, June sneaked out of her room, using her magical abilities to either stop a jewelry thief or two, or to practice her powers. One night, though, several evil souls entered the city. She could sense and see them.

One place had many different good souls- three creatures. One, a monkey. Another, some sort of collector of what seemed like other spirits, and another she couldn't get a read on.

So, like any responsible person, she had to check it out. Teleporting inside the bar, she looked at the monkey in detective's clothes and a man who must've thought dish rags were the new trend. There was also the man from the Terror Castle, that stood where the book was.

Grinning arrogantly, she sniffed and looked at them. "Sup losers."
