I'm working on a group of characters inspired by the seven colors used as tinctures in heraldry: Yellow, Purple, Green, White, Red, Blue and Black. Each of these colors are also associated with a gemstone, planet (with the exception of Yellow and White which represent the Sun and Moon), and a gemstone.

What I am attempting to do is to have each color associated with a country.

What I have is,

Yellow for China (cultural and historical association)

Purple for Ancient Rome (first country to use purple as a royal color)

Green for Ireland (cultural association with Gaelic Ireland)

White fot Antarctica (the snow)

Red for Russia (communism)

Blue for France (color worn by the king), and

Black for Africa

The only one I am uncertain of is black. For now, I am using Africa, but am looking for a possible alternative. I wish to keep it within the Europe/Asia/Africa region.

Maybe switch White for Scandinavia since the Arctic is actually in Europe (and Asia too). As for Black...how about the Islamic Blackstone in Mecca, which symbolises spiritual virtue of the detachment and poverty for God. Green can also extend to Wales, Scotland and Cornwall all of who have strong Celtic connections.
