Laid upon the great precipice of death, Sara’s eyes stayed, unmoved on the broken and bloodied form of her daughter. Tears flowed in a constant stream from her eyes, yet no sound came from her lips, so deep ran her sorrows. Beneath her own body, Sara felt the life flow from her in a deep red pool and it was there, in that moment of unbroken darkness that she felt the touch upon her face. It kissed her skin like sunlight, before fingers grew from the sensation, stroking her cheek and heralding a voice that filled her mind like water rushing into her lungs.
“I am sorry, my child.” It spoke, “I am so sorry for the burden I have placed upon you.”
Gaea cradled Sara’s broken body within her arms and lifted her from the earth as if she were a column of air. The Goddess turned her form and carried Sara away, her bloodied arms summoning the strength to reach back, her heart screaming a thousand torments, desperate for life to flow through her daughter, for such a terrible occurrence to be undone.
“…please…” She wheezed through bloodied lungs, “… my daughter… please…”
Gaea paused a moment and looked back.
“I cannot give you what you desire. Such a thing is beyond my power.”
Gaea turned back on her path, a great light growing before her as she carried Sara’s body with her into it’s all encompassing brilliance.
“…vengeance…” Sara spluttered, blood spilling from her lips. “Then… give me… vengeance…”
“Oh yes, my child.” Gaea replied as the light consumed them both. “That I can give you.”
end.
