@manalive42: Are you going by the cover or the indicia? We mainly go by indicia naming so if the version from the title is not in the indicia it would need to be added as an alias with the indicia title as the main.
@pikahyper: Good catch, thank you. Disregard.
@manalive42: got it, I added the cover version as an alias anyways cause the dash would trip up the search engine if someone searched for it so now it can be found either way.
Gabe Cohen - Cedbill (pseudonym when writing comics)
Dr. Huntoon - Dr. Roger Huntoon
Privateer - Mark Shaw (He hasn't used the Privateer alias in years and in the New 52 he just goes by Mark Shaw anyway)

Could someone clarify how Imprints work on Comicvine for me?
Vertigo comics for instance seem to always have "Published monthly by DC Comics" in the indicia (well, in the ones I own anyway).
The reason why I ask is because what was originally Amalgamated Press changed their publishing name from "Fleetway Publications" in the indicia, to "IPC Magazines" in 1968, but nothing on the cover changed, and when a logo on the cover was included, on Annuals for example, they always seem to say "A Fleetway Annual" regardless of the indicia. So wouldn't Fleetway be the trade name?
The other thing was with Odhams press, they had a line of comics they referred to as "Power Comics" with a specific logo on each of them, would "Power Comics" be an imprint of Odhams?
@silent_bomber: imprints are generally treated like a separate publishing entity so anything published under them would be listed under them, for the British stuff that can be tricky from what I've seen and from what you've written above. Since you didn't list any specific titles I can't say for sure but generally whoever published it last should be used and you can include a list of publishers/imprints in the volume description.
As for Power Comics that sounds more like a branding then a full on imprint so it most likely would not get its own page, if you could tell me the titles of a few Power Comics branded comics I can do some research though (same goes for the imprint ones you were referring too, my research skills are pretty good).

How would I discern if Fleetway counts as an imprint of IPC Magazines?
TBH I think I don't really fully get the idea of imprints, I just felt like the IPC/Fleetway divide was kind of unnecessarily messy, being that all that really happened in 68' seems to me to be the parent company restructuring and asserting more direct control.

Yup I've seen it.
Wikipedia defines an imprint as a trade name used to market a product to different demographics and consumer segments.
"Fleetway" was always the trade name of those comics coming from Mirror/IPC right?
@silent_bomber: I don't think it always was, Fleetway got really weird in the 90's and still is. I seem to recall Fleetway being the American distributor of Rebellion/2000ad stuff these days with everything published under Rebellion/2000ad.
Like I said before though it would be easier for me to say things if I saw examples.

What did you need to see?
Honestly I probably don't know enough about how businesses work to be in this discussion, I could well be talking nonsense.
I probably should've never brought this up.
@silent_bomber: I don't think it always was, Fleetway got really weird in the 90's and still is.
The business was sold to Egmont in 1987, I was only talking about the 1959-1987 era
ie
- -1959 Amalgamated Press
- 1959-1987 IPC/Mirror group under the imprint name of "Fleetway" whilst Odhams line is sold as "Power Comics"
- 1987-2000 Egmont UK
- 2000-Present Rebellion
I seem to recall Fleetway being the American distributor of Rebellion/2000ad stuff
I think Fleetway-Quality was something else, an imprint of Quality Communications which reprinted 2000AD material.
Why did I ever begin this? LOL
@silent_bomber: Fleetway/Quality was the 90's and ya that was reprints packaged specifically for the US, the modern Fleetway that I know of is basically just an exporter of British comics in their original state unmodified or at best with a different cover.
You totally should have brought this up if it is a topic of confusion, it looks like the most confusing period of time is before my time though, if you give me the names of some specific volumes so I can research them I'll be able to give some much better answers cause there is only so much I can do looking at the publisher side of things.
