We have a lot of images here at Comic Vine. That's one of the great things about our site, if there's a character you're looking for, you'll be able to find images of them. But how many times have you looked at an image and wondered where it came from?
You might be aware that we have atask queue set here. Basically it's a way for us to put some focus on areas that could use a little clean up to make everything kick even more ass. For those looking for extra points, taking on the tasks and completing them earns you points on top of what you earn for doing the edits.
Image Clean Up on Comic Vine
Wow that picture in the spoiler is fantastic. Dude must work out. Total package.
BTW, let's remove pointlessly small images like
http://www.comicvine.com/starfire/29-2389/animated/108-9808/173139-teen-titans/105-256203/ from the image galleries, we don't need small images, bad scans, etc. They just hide the good content.
"Am I the only one that got aroused?
"
" so you guys go to a paid subscription. Yet offer less content other then an added weekly "happy hour" and now you want us to do your jobs? no thanks. "Clearly, you've no idea how big the wiki is. Or that the wiki is totally made up of USER contributions. If you don't want to help, that's fine, but it's not the 'job' of the staff to clean up the wiki.
" what kind of descriptions are we talking? like citing where it's from or something?I did a couple of those tasks, and for most images, I went with the naming conventions in the excellent Xerox Kitty's Guide to the Galleries -- which lists the issue the image came from like you did. But movie images weren't covered, so I went with the name of the characters and the actors. I saw someone else had labeled them with the actions and character.
like something to this effect?
"
Thanks everyone who has finished or is doing these tasks, I've already closed tons of them and awarded points.
Captioning images will really help Comic Vine be the best comic book image resource out there. It helps Google image search know what the images are about and present them as results to new users.
MORE------> task queue
BTW here's a image that could use a more descriptive caption. This was an epic moment in the movie where they KISS, so you'd want to get that word in there.

" Question How long r the t@sks up for? im not looking for the the @nswer "When its finished" simply how long its up for "I try to keep tasks fresh. I don't like a task to be up for longer then 7 days. If it is, I replace it with another task that I think someone might dig. There's so much work to do, replacing tasks is easy.
I also like to keep the task queue themed. So this week it's Story Arcs and Image Galleries. Last week is was Teams, and the 3 weeks before that it was all about Characters.@Rheged: @The Dark Huntress:
I've loaded the task queue with EASY and HARD image caption tasks, so the weekend should be fun!

" @aztek the lost: Good rule would be to caption the image in a way that you think might help someone find that specific image if they were searching google. "I go with naming the issue. I will be far from impressed if I start finding images I've uploaded have been renamed/recaptioned with pointless brain dead comments.
For anyone who isn't sure...
Captions are searchable on google. So character names, story arc names & issue names make sense since those will be the usual things that people search for. Things like 'He;s so sexy in his green speedos' are completely pointless.
Starting with Superman. About a million images on his page are not needed. Say bye bye!
So I can delete small images, bad quality, images of stupid angles that you can barely seen anyone, images that are just like a gif etc.?
" @Supreme MarvelDamn, I was gonna go frantic.Oh, can I also delete images with speech bubbles and captions inside the panels?I'd say no. Those images are fine. "
" Oh, can I also delete images with speech bubbles and captions inside the panels? "No no no... We LIKE speech bubbles. It's when people blank out the speech bubbles that we make frowny faces :(
Although it was written before I became a mod so it's kinda old now, you can always refer to my Unofficial Guide to the Galleries.
