Which first appearance should count for characters where several people has had the name?

The first one or the current one?

I would say the very first, so like Green Lantern's would be the first Alan Scott one. Other bearers of the name have their own pages (or they should) and their first appearance should be there.

That's how I see it anyway.

Yes, but how about where the first is a lesser known person that doesn't have or need a seperate page?

Like Titania, Blizzard or Eel.

I'd still go with the very first. There should be some explination in the bio that more than one person has used the name. It would be nice if multiple issues could be added there though. So, keeping with GL it would say blah #3, as Alan Scott, whatever # 1, as Hal Jordan etc.

Those are the genuine firsts for them, not many people know that.
