Easiest ways to get your subs rejected...

  1. Copy and Paste from wikipedia or the Marvel DB. Some people are doing this literally 20-30 times a day.

  2. Create a new gallery instead of adding the images to a current gallery. New galleries should only be made for a themed set of images (example: Ultimate Juggernaut Pictures), not just for random images. Just throw those in the random galllery.

  3. Make small changes or deletes without leaving a comment. My awesome array of powers do not include telepathy. "Use your words" as we say around the office. Leaving a quick note about what you did can keep your submission out of the reject bin.

haha. freaking ultimate juggernaut.

thanks for the info. I'll definitely try to leave comments explaining all changes I make on pages.

I went through a bunch of submissions yesterday that were straight copies from marvel.com. I'd say if anything, that's good for team affiliation but maybe it's better to stay away. Too tempting to just copy.

I should have read this before attempting to contribute. I did some small changes, basically adding the basic info on some of Batman's villains and correcting a gender confusion on batgirl who is obviously female... Didn't leave any comments on my submisions though... sorry, I should have read this first. I'll keep this in mind next time I try anything anyway...

Sorry about making these same mistakes myself. Been making very minor changes here and there and no comments. I just figured there was an audit log or something tracking changes in the database that you guys would be notified what the changes are.

Rewording and paraphrasing is still considered plagiarism.

@ebuchanan: If I can copy some of your sub and an internet search brings me directly to the source it was paraphrased from, then it is plagiarism.

On the other hand, there is nothing wrong with viewing other sources to remind yourself of events. The biggest problem with paraphrasing is it is usually information that the writer never knew and they are using source information only, instead of their own comic knowledge.

Best bet: write it yourself.

While its a pain in the ass, its not as bad as it was before three years ago when there was no diff tool to tell us whats changed between the old page and the new one. It won't get your sub outright rejected but you'll probably get an irritated PM from a mod about leaving a comment next time. Its a huge help on large pages.

Major necropost dude. This thread is three years old. Good job we don't have rules against that here. Do we?

Good advice.

@digifiend: There are rules against it if they're not asking relevant questions and it mostly pertains to the battle forum.
