It's not very clever imo, to make her to be dying. It's clearly done for dramatic effect like Wolf Cub's death who was advertised since issue 1. It's just that no one cares at this point. There were too many deaths already that it's since long lost it's intended shock effect on the readers.
Also, we already know that if a character is even remotely popular the death will only be temporary.
Dust rocks!
I think she's been relegated to background decoration for a few scenes in Psylocke and probably Utopia too. This is a problem with the revovling door concept for Utopia. Too many characters means the writers can't focus on them. There are now enough titles to feature on the majority of characters, with cross-title cameos. Instead, the majority of titles still focuses on Cyclops, Emma Frost & whoever is the X-Flavour of the month (ie Pixie, Wolverine, Domino...).
the line-up for the X-Books honestly sucks these days. I liked it a lot better when they had a well defined X-Men team and the Young X-Men kinda did their own thing. It felt like they both had their own team dynamics, now there just aren't any and character slot in and out whimsically.
Im gonna get hate for this, but why didnt any of the young/new x-men get lured into Avengers Arena (Surge, Mercury, Anole, Rockslide, Hellion or Match etc.), so that atleast getting some attention.
That being I'm glad it happen, not saying I hate any of the said characters, just sick of them appearing in the background and serving little to no purpose, It may have been some interesting stories between the x kids and x-23
