Dear Friends,

The reason I posted this question is because before 52 started Dick had left a note to Barbara about a possible marriage proposal.

My question to all is would Dick Grayson getting married be good for his series or bad?

Personally I think it would make the stories more interesting if Dick married Starfire. First their relationship always sparks flares of passion. Second she's a super strong alien and he is a best hand to hand combat fighter, the two of them would make a great team up for many space adventures.

I could really see great storylines and good sales for the comic if these two got hitched. It would be much better than the Green Arrow/Black Canary comic, well just as good.

I dunno, I'd love for them to work out, but if Dick marries Barbara, something bad will happen just to keep their marriage exciting; no one's going to live happily ever after in the comic book world. Unless they have bat babies.... ooo

I thought that the idea of putting two of the first, best known and more popular heroes of DC together was a nice idea and that  it made sense.

Then someone along the way said "They are better without marrying each other" and bump the idea is gone.

If Dick Grayson marries someone I think it should be Barbara, Starfire is one of my favorite characters but they've tried to bring back that relationship back so many times without any apparent reason (Titans #3 beeing the most recent) that I don't see it happening.

Though most of the heroes never marry or get divorced in a few years I think that I can see Dick Grayson getting married as something natural (depending on who)

Then again he tried twice, the first one with Starfire and an evil Raven broke up the wedding and with Barbara which was "Ok, let's get engaged and next issue we don't even mention each other or what happened until an annual (which was awesome) comes in"

ok not sure if I using this system right so please forgive me if I misqoute someone. Starfire married twice and both men died and both times were not for love but for duty to her home planet. Her home was destroyed it said so also in the DC encyclopedia her planet being destroyed and her calling earth her new home.

*Babs says:*

OK.

This is something that has bothered me on more than one occasion. I love Justice League, but BATMAN going off fighting aliens always struck me as lame and unrealistic. The bat family has always maintained an element of realism that I have appreciated. Sure, the idea of a billionaire playboy decked out in kevlar and spandex jumping across the rooftops of Gotham may seem a little far fetched, but at least he wasn't hopping his jet plane going to mars and fighting aliens. IDK
Dick is the same way. There is a psychological element to their characters that resonates and makes them so intriguing. It gives them depth. There is an appreciation for sheer intellect and skill that we don't see in other DC characters.

Starfire is an alien. WOW how boring. She has super powers. She wears no clothes and runs around in spandex selling "sex" to any taker. Not my cup of tea.

The relationship between Barbara and Dick is like that of Mary Jane and Peter Parker, only, Dick was not nearly as EMO. Thank God, but, I digress. He spends his adolescence in love with her; with a character that chose not to exploit herself and relied on other attributes than cleavage to fight. They have a commonality. Not only do they have similar backgrounds, they are childhood sweethearts, they are former allies in the fight against crime, and they share the same principles when it comes to the reason WHY they chose the life they lead. They both look at what they do, *saving  the world* in the same context. The relationship runs deeper than mutual friendship and respect; it is love that has lasted through hard times and good. What is Dick and Starfire's relationship based on? How much can they really share in common? Their relationship is rooted in sex, where's the depth???

I'm sorry, but the day Nightwing and Starfire go to space is the day I stop reading the Nightwing arc.

Even though I realize that Dick and Babs will more than likely never be together because the fan base is primarily boys who think Starfire is better than Oracle because she's just "so much hotter;" you have to appreciate the relationship between these Dick and Babs for what it is: as real as you'll ever get in a comic book.

Okay.... no. I think if Dick were to get married, settle down and have kids, it should be with Kory. I know a lot of people think their relationship was only based on sex, but really, it wasn't. They truly did love each other, and Nightwing even said that Kory had been a big aspect of his life. And to tell you the truth, Nightwing wouldn't have proposed in the first place if he didn't love her. I'm sick and tired of people talking trash about Kory when she's the one that brought him out of his 'shell' to begin with.

Koriand'r was the one who taught Dick how to think with his heart as well as with his head.

"When I gave Dick Grayson my heart, it was not a loan." -Starfire

She loved him, okay. I can guarantee you that he loved her too.

And in all honestly, I think their relationship is a great representation of diversity. It shows how two different people, from two different worlds can learn to love each other.

I liked Babs better with Ted anyway.

From now, I say he's better single.

But if he has to end up with someone (and I bet he will) it should be with Babs.

said pretty much everything I think about Starfire/ Starfire and Dick, add with the fact that I don't like when alien, magic and stuff like these got stuck in "Bat-Universe" or when Bat-guys got stuck with it. For a while, ok, but forever it feels out of place. Plus, the cool thing about Bat-family and its members is that they're out of the "flying with my super powers n' fighting giant alien robots" cliche. At least in its essence.

So, Babs :)

I don't think so, he always ends up with a girlfriend, he's not the type who simply run away from commitment. I mean, even when he was with a minor character, as Raya, he was expecting sth more out it.

I believe he'll settle down with the right woman someday.

I liked the Dick-Kory romance in New Teen Titans (and yes, they obviously were in love back then) but, let's face it, she never was that interesting a character. The romance made sense within the story but ever since Nightwing pretty much went back to being a Batverse character, him being in a couple with an alien princess cannot work.

The relationship between Dick and Barbara however does. They make a great couple, especially pre-New 52. Now that DC de-aged Batgirl and Nightwing, I find the dynamic between the two to be less interesting .

I think dick shouldn't get married but if he had to it should be to Babs because A.) the new 52 starfire just isn't right for Dick and B.) Babs is just a much better fit and they're both connected to Batman.

: LMAO!!. I love that they tried to downplay the double meaning by bolding everything except his name. It honestly just makes it so much more noticeable.

But anyway back to the topic at hand here. @DarthShap: I think you're right. I love the Titans. That said, I love Kory. But Dick & Barbara always fit better, especially their dynamic as adults considering everything they've been through. De-aging them seems to take away a lot of the history of the couple. I think pre-New 52 Dick was ready for something more. I haven't read new Nightwing, but from what I hear he's 21 now? Yea. I say let him be single. I'd like to see the different relationships he has throughout the series.

I don't necessarily hate starfire but I really dislike her she acts to naive to actually be naive and she isn't a slut and I can't hold her promiscuous behavior against her cause it's part of her tamaranian culture but to have been on earth as long as she has is just smh. And babs is awesome as fuck but her and dick make better friends than bf gf or married. I'd rather see dick with Donna Troy cause she's the female character he's closest and they know each other. Besides if he can date and have a child with an alien princess he should be able to date a beautiful amazon princess and for those of you who say you like them as just friends stfu you've never seen it in the comics so you never know how their relationship would work out. And Dick/Babs and Dick/Kory DC needs to stop it's getting annoying

Dick Grayson has been with more women since 2011 than Starfire has her entire publication history. He ain't the type to save himself for his future wife.

While on the subject, I think Dick Grayson would be better off not married for several reasons. One, at this stage in his character development, I don't think he would make a great husband. Two, editorial would make the marriage would end badly and I really don't feel like reading that crap. Three, who the hell would you pick to be his wife? The only character that I would pick to be in a lifelong relationship with Dick is Bruce in a non-romantic brotherly way.

I can't see Dick being married at all. Dick always seemed like an everyman character what every guy in his young adult life would want to be like. He's been with a bunch of women, attractive male, highly charismatic, a leader than a follower and even been a temp fashion designer model. Having Dick settling down by getting married pretty much takes away what makes him so appealing among other fans.

In the long run, this is what I agree with the most. For him to be married he has to go through the stages that we saw Peter Parker go through to get married to Mary Jane, where the character literally grew and changed from a teenager in high school, to a young adult in college, to a fully grown man working on a career and entering a new stage of his life. Right now Dick is only like 21-22 years old. (Where Pre-Flashpoint he was like 25-26 at least) It'd honestly be somewhat weird for him to be married right now. Especially given the current state of his life. I'd expect it from Bruce before I would any of his kids. Heck, I couldn't even see Barbara being married right now, or most of the second generation of heroes for that matter.

I really enjoyed Dick and Babs relationship in BoP and Nightwing (screw you, Arkham Knight Tim/Babs) and really wanted them to end up together. However, I think Dick will stay single for as long as he is keeps his status quo as young superhero. DC should develop the Dick/Babs relationship with a will they/won't they thing then as a on again/off again thing.

As for a story that takes place 20 years or so in the DC future, Dick and Babs should totally be together. If there's any characters that deserve a happy ending, it's those two.

I'm not reading Earth Two but aren't Dick and Barbara married in this series?

And after in Convergence he is also married to Starfire (pre crisis earth) and Barbara (pre flashpoint earth). And Pre flashpoint he was also married for one story in Nightwing Annual #1.

And he was also married (with kids) to Donna in a fear gas induced illusion in Nightwing #10 and with an unnamed woman in Batman #300.

Dick Grayson doesn't really work as married.

Earlier in his history, he might have, but his personality has changed so much since then, and he's gone through so much that it simply doesn't make sense for him to settle down. He's not that kinda fellow.

And Dick/Babs is a forced pairing that's never really worked well in any medium. Dick only really works with someone with a cheeful, friendly, flirty personality like himself, and Barbara is too much of a polar opposite.

Notwithstanding the aberration that is current Babs.
