Will it be a Black Adam Film, rather than a Shazam movie?

..Shazam is a great character, but will always be over-shadowed by Superman. Heck, DC Comics even sued Fawcett comics back in the day, as they saw Shazam as a Superman rip-off. Having bought the rights they have then spent decades doing next to nothing with the character. Even lost the rights to the name Captain Marvel, to Marvel comics, stupid fools. Fact is, Shazam has almost identical strength, speed and so on to Superman, its just that his powers are magic based. DC haven't seemed to know quite what to do with a super-hero who is so similar to their most iconic Super-hero. Also captain marvel was always a bit more innocent, fun and perhaps cheesy in its day than modern characters. So doing a movie with Shazam may prove problematic.

On the other hand Black Adam has become a very popular bad ass character, going from outright villain to anti-hero at times. With the rock being rumoured to be signed up for a DC film and bearing more than a passing resemblance to Black Adam, do you think DC will actually not bother with Shazam and just do a Black Adam movie?

Black Adam does have a much more interesting backstory than shazam but I doubt we will ever see a BA movie. How often do you see DC/Marvel movies about the villain?

I'd be all for a Black Adam movie before Shazam. I've been saying for a while that it doesn't make any sense to put out Shazam before Juatice League. I know he was a founding member in JL: War but I still think he works better as a character that comes about after Justice League is established. I also think the tone on a Shazam movie would kill the momentum going into Justice League. I get wanting a somewhat lighter movie as a pallet cleanser but Shazam is just too light. They'd be better off pushing out the Flash/Green Lantern team up movie out first if they really wanted that.

a BA movie would be GREAT. It would be the only superhero movie set in ancient times. It could be BA as a hero right until the end were his family is killed setting up for the Shazam movie. With BA now a villain it would set up for another never been done superhero movie, the villain was the previous main star of the last movie.

Shazam could easily fit into the established tone. As long as Billy's written how a real world foster kid would be, which I doubt because Shazam's primarily aimed at younger kids and families presumably. I don't think it'd be good to have his movie after JL though because once Black Adam shows up and starts zapping citizens and property, people will wonder where the team is. I know Supes wouldn't be a big help but WW would.

The only way I'll have any interest in a Shazam movie is if Billy's written properly. A 15 year old foster kid is gonna be troubled and have a little bit of a mouth. I did like in his N52 book that he initially messes around as Shazam at first. Any normal kid would definitely get into some trouble if they were suddenly granted super powers.
