..These are the two biggest hitters in DC World and a lot of DC fans love both characters so I am interested in what makes you pick one as a favourite over the other...
Superman or Batman, which one do you prefer and why?
Batman quite easily for me.
I've been getting more and more interested in Superman recently.
Hard to believe with your profile picture. =P
In 2016, the Bat will break the Superman!
I agree, he'll become a bigger household name & will be DC's bigger business-milking cow.

@d3mon: What about it?
I prefer Batman I like his character, storylines, and villains better, plus I find the writing on his books to be more consistence. I like what supes stand for but his character does not really appeal to me for some reason.
Superman. He's been my favourite hero since I was a kid. He represents everything a superhero should strive for.
I like Batman, but in smaller doses than DC wishes. DC also has a tendancy to make him better than he really should be (smartest, most attractive to women, richest, best fighter, best detective, best tactician, etc, etc, etc) I will not mention the horde of obnoxious batfanboys.
Superman.
Batman is me when the world has gone to hell and I'm just trying to make it all right again.
Superman is me when I realize my own power and responsibility and use it to make the world a better place.
Batman is about finding a cure and prevention for societal ills; he is like a vaccination against own baser impulses. But in the end, all he's trying to do is repair what goes wrong.
Superman is about improvement, enlightenment, reaching out to one's full potential; he is like a healthy education that includes not only knowledge but how to use it to help others be more than they would otherwise be. In the end, he's trying to help us rise to greatness.
Batman tells me it is possible fix a decent world that has fallen. Superman tells me it is possible to help a decent world become a great world.
Batman tells us not to be afraid of the evil outside us; I need Batman when I feel helpless. Superman tells us not to be afraid of the greatness within; when I am strong, Superman reminds me to use that strength to help others.
Batman rescues. Superman inspires.
Superman.
Definitely Superman.
Superman is my favorite superhero. He's the ultimate force for good and appeals to my male power fantasy.
Has anyone noticed how fans of Batman always talk about "realism" as being limited, restricted, unable to go beyond,
while both fans and detractors of Superman focus instead on being limitless, free, able to become more than merely a baseline human?
I enjoy both heroes, to be honest, but this is one more reason why I find Superman more inspiring.
I will never understand why anyone would consider a billionaire who cares about helping victims or justice more believable than a messianic visitor from another world.
Most modern religions are based upon belief in the idea of one or more messianic visitors from out there.
Modern history is full of proof that billionaires are rare (the 1%) and almost none of them care about helping victims or justice.
Let's all be honest and once and for all place a moratorium on the absurd claim that Batman is more believable than is Superman.
For anyone who knows American history about the behavior of the super-rich and also holds any sort of religious belief, Superman is the more believable.
