And why is that?
Best DC arc stories you ever read?
Convergence.
Lol
Convergence.
Lol
Lots of love to you, too.
@superadam: Huh?
There are a lot... but all time favourites would be:
- All Star Superman
- Superman: Last Son
- Batman: The Black Mirror
- Batman: The Court of Owls
- Green Lantern: The Sinestro Corps. War
- Blackest Night
- Aquaman: The Trench
- The entire Judd Winick run on Green Arrow/Black Canary (the whole thing is one long story about Connor Hawke being shot/kidnapped)
Those are probably my favourites so far, my top 3 would probably be All Star Superman, Sinestro Corps War and The Trench. Love those books so much.
In no order besides grouped by writer
The Dark Knight Returns
Kingdom Come
Superman: Red Son
Azzarello's Wonder Woman
Rucka's Wonder Woman
The Killing Joke
Saga of the Swamp Thing
Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow
All-Star Superman
Seven Soldiers of Victory
Morrison's Batman epic
Morrison's Action Comics
Morrison's Animal Man
Morrison's Doom Patrol
Multiversity gets an honorable mention, but since it isn't complete yet, it isn't on the list!
As for the why...well, they're all great stories imo, w/ great storytelling. Some show great heart and emotion (Kingdom Come, Rucka's WW, Red Son). Some were just profound to me as a kid (TDKR, read that when I was like 7 or 8 and was like "WTF THIS IS AWESOME"). Some are so poetic and reflect the potential of the medium as art (Moore's Swamp Thing). Some are just written by Grant Morrison (need I say more?)
Sinestro Corps War is da bomb yo
As well as Infinite Crisis, Batman R.I.P, Kingdom Come, Court of Owls, Zero Year Savage City, Superman: Brainiac, Flash Dastardly Death of the Rogues, Blackest Night, B&R Born to Kill, Throne of Atlantis, etc.
- Batman: Hush
- Batman and Robin: Born to Kill
- Outsider War
- Batman: Court of the Owls
- Flashpoint Paradox
- The Killing Joke
All of these arc made me respect the characters' portrayal even more. The characters actually go through obstacles that REALLY stood in their way and they manage achieve their goals through sheer will-power which made me sit on the edge of my seat the entire time.
@dr_cheesesteak: i only read new 52 action comics Morrison, and i didn't like it.
I will say Yes if you want to say more about Morrison run?
@tristan95 well, Morrison's work definitely seems to be the kind that is polarizing - ppl either love it or hate it. I think the reasons are usually opposite sides of the same coin - you either love his weird, high concept, scattered, sometimes overly meta-textual/subtextual work or you don't.
I'm a huge Morrison supporter. I know there are Morrison opponents. I think we all feel that way for the same reasons! So if someone either loves or hates his work, I think it's self-explanatory why. =D
Two of a Kind by Bruce Timm, Mad Love by Bruce Timm & Paul Dini, Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader? by Neil Gaiman & Andy Kubert, Dark Victory by Jeph Loeb & Tim Sale, first arc of Justice League United.
Technically Mad Love and Two of a Kind aren't arcs though they are still amazing.

@scouterv: Why not say "all of New 52".
But I will agree on Arrow, Aquaman and Justice League (withou Origin which is the worst JL story I ever read). I will say that Flash isn't a bad read but not "the best arc story" there is.
I will assume you haven't read any pre-new52 story seeing your choices. Because there are far better Superman and Lobo stories.
And no Green Lantern or Batman in your list ??
- Green Arrow the Longbow Hunters
- Justice by Alex Ross
- Kingdom Come by Mark Waid
- 52 by Geoff Johns, Greg Rucka, Mark Waid Grant Morrison and Keith Giffen
- Countdown to Infinite Crisis by Greg Rucka, Johns and Judd Winick
- Sinestro Corps War, Blackest Night by Geoff Johns
- All of Grant Morrison's run on JLA
- OMAC by Greg Rucka
- Green Arrow the Longbow Hunters
- Justice by Alex Ross
- Kingdom Come by Mark Waid
- 52 by Geoff Johns, Greg Rucka, Mark Waid Grant Morrison and Keith Giffen
- Countdown to Infinite Crisis by Greg Rucka, Johns and Judd Winick
- Sinestro Corps War, Blackest Night by Geoff Johns
- All of Grant Morrison's run on JLA
- OMAC by Greg Rucka
Nice choices, I haven't yet read all these but I heard lots of good about them. And +1 for picking OMAC, I've been reading Jack Kirby's work and discovered OMAC. I find him really underated and underused.
For Green Lantern why not include all of Geoff John's run ?
I'm a little disapointed with no Batman on your list.
A lot of fine choices on here, but I recalled one that really flies under the radar that I thought I would share:
Blue Beetle (2006 volume) #s 22-25 "End Game"
- This was Jaime Reyes' first series. When it first started out it was co-written by Keith Giffen and a writer I was unfamiliar with named John Rogers. The early issues were kind of uneven and occasionally mediocre. When Giffen left (around issue 5 or 6), and I find this so weird because I am a huge Giffen fan, the title started to fly. John Rogers found his rhythm and turned it into a pretty solid, sometimes even great comic. Rogers left the title after issue 25, and he went out with style. His last four issues, #s 22-25 were title End Game and they featured Jaime Reyes making a bold move against the nefarious alien civilization The Reach, the race that had created the scarab, but could no longer control the one attached to Jaime. This non-stop action-packed final confrontation with the Reach came out of nowhere. I liked the comic before this storyline, but I was wholly unprepared for how tense and flippin' fun that story arc turned out to be. Subplots and supporting characters from throughout the previous 21 issues all coalesced into a rollicking fun adventure, the kind you read ever so often that reminds you why you love comics in the first place.
i read this one where Batman's dad comes back to life (but its not him) and he tries killing Batman, but Batman aint havin' it. At the end Thomas is saying some dumb shit and then Batman yells "YOURE NOT THOMAS WAYNE!" and then some stuff happens but at the very end it shows Nightwing holding the cowl while standing on a building or something...i was very young when i read this. Does anyone know the title? Please help lol
