Convention season has officially started for us. While we've already done a few events this year, Long Beach Comic Expo marked our first full-on convention. It was a great show. We took close to 100 Cosplay pics (check them out HERE).
At most comic conventions, we do the Mystery Art Challenge. The artists that agree to take the challenge have no prior knowledge of what they'll have to draw. The way it works is, it's always a familiar character along with a random object. The artists then have seconds to try to come up with a creative idea. Because so many love taking part in the challenge, they've started indirectly challenging each other.
For this first challenge of 2015, Peter Nguyen, Dustin Nguyen, Derek Fridolfs, Agnes Garbowska, Joel Gomez, Ray-Anthony Height, and Todd Nauck all took the challenge. With a certain show coming to Netflix next month, Daredevil was the character chosen. As for the object, let me tell you, it's getting hard to come up with different things. This was just the first that came to mind.
Here is the entire challenge:
We also split up the video for the individual artists.
Peter Nguyen
Peter has the tradition of always going first. Here's what he came up with.
Dustin Nguyen
Dustin went with a quick approach.
Derek Fridolfs
Derek is also super-calm when it comes to the challenges.
Agnes Garbowska
Agnes had a lot of My Little Pony fans at her table but we managed to squeeze in for the challenge.
Joel Gomez
Here's Joel's take on the challenge.
Ray-Anthony Height
Ray almost missed out on the challenge but luckily we found the right time to make it happen.
Todd Nauck
Todd closed out the first challenge of the year.
That's it for the Long Beach Comic Expo. We'll be at WonderCon next. We should probably start thinking of what character and object we'll try out. Hope you enjoyed this challenge.
