Has Cyclops Changed

Cyclops has changed so much over the years and his character development is arguably marvel's best work.

Completely different character. Horribly written and portrayed these past few years and I blame Marvel editorial for that. He had the entire weight of his race on his shoulders and he's been infected with various evil entities which caused him to crack, he's not the same boy scout we once knew, and god forbid people give him a break for it.

Started reading X-men from Morrison all the way to current (dipped a bit into older stuff to get perspective on the history of the team) ....you can see the slow progress his character makes and how he overtime evolves to where he is now. He is different in many ways than he used to be, but the core of who he is remains imo.

imo the process has been the best example of real character evolution. So many characters stay the same for years and years without really changing in a real way. Sure something big may happen in their lives, but more often than not the character remains mostly the same. Scott didn't. he changed as much as the times and situations he was presented with changed.

The writing has on occasion been off, but its also on occasion been excellent...that's just the nature of the beast that is comic books. The overall direction and process though has been great in regards to him specifically, though the ball has been dropped hardcore for other characters (HOPE!)

I feel he has changed in a drastic way, but throughout the years and not into a completely different character.

He has been through many things during the past 20 years, yet he has always remained the core of the X-Men.

He was once known for being the boy-scout, Xavier's ideological heir. But with Professor X gone, I think he has found his own way to try to achieve stability between humans and mutants. He is not as diplomatic as Xavier, and not the terrorist Magneto once was; his philosophy stands in the middle of those two; he's not ruthless, and not a murderer. But he certainly won't allow mutants being tossed around by humans anymore.
