Attention all Evil Ernie fans. Heck, attention all comic book fans. As you might be aware and should be aware, Evil Ernie is coming back to comics. Next week, on October 10, Dynamite Entertainment will release the first issue written by Jesse Blaze Snider. If you're curious what Jesse has planned, you can check out the interview we did with him back in August.

What we want to do is offer you the chance of winning the first issue. But we're going to go beyond just giving away the first issue. We will have four winners this time around.

(1) Grand Prize: A complete set of 1st print #1s and #1 incentives.

(3) Runner Up: A complete set of #1s (4 regular covers)

To spice it up even more, Jesse himself will be signing the comics.

How can you enter?

Jesse and I want to know what you think would be the perfect band t-shirt for Ernie and why it would be perfect. You may be aware that Ernie was a bit of a metalhead. That doesn't mean you have to choose a metal band shirt for him. You can choose from any genre but be sure to explain why you feel that would be best for him.

WARNING: MEGADETH is too obvious an answer and will be automatically counted out! We're looking for creative and insightful band, album and/or song choices that actually say something more about Ernie than what his ultimate goals in a comic book might be.

== TEASER ==
Young Ernie with a Misfits shirt.
  • Four winners will be chosen and the BEST ANSWERS will WIN.
  • One entry per person.
  • And our lawyers insist the contest is open only to those in the United States. (Yes it's a bummer but our hands are tied by all the legal red tape).
  • The contest will begin immediately and end Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 5:00 pm PT.

Winners will be announced Wednesday morning so you know if you have to run out to your local comic shop and buy your own copy.

Here's all the laywer red tape stuff:

Eligibility: Comic Vine Giveaways (the "Giveaways") are open only to individuals who are legal residents of the fifty (50) United States (including the District of Columbia) and are 18 years of age or older. Employees of CBS Interactive, its advertising or promotion agencies, those involved in the production, development, implementation or handling of a Giveaway, any agents acting for, or on behalf of the above entities, their respective parent companies, officers, directors, subsidiaries, affiliates, licensees, service providers, prize suppliers any other person or entity associated with Giveaway (collectively "Giveaway Entities") and/or the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings and children) and household members (whether related or not) of each such employee, are not eligible. Subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations. Void in Puerto Rico and where prohibited by law.

Sponsor: The Giveaways are sponsored by Comic Vine, 235 2nd Street, San Francisco, CA ("Sponsor").

Agreement to Official Rules: Participation in a Giveaway constitutes entrant's full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final and binding. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.

Entrants acknowledge and agree that the Giveaway Entities may have developed or may in the future develop ideas that may be similar to entrant's submission, that any such similarity shall be coincidental, and that entrant shall have no rights whatsoever in or to, and the Giveaway Entities shall have no obligation to entrant for the Giveaway Entities' use of, any such ideas.

Entry Period: The start and end times/dates (the "Entry Period") are located on the applicable Giveaway page.

Giveaway Entry/Submission: Follow the directions on the applicable Giveaway page in order to submit an entry. The use of any agencies or automated software to submit entries will void all entries submitted by that person.

Winner Selection: Winner(s) will be selected via random drawing. The odds of being selected depend on the number of eligible entries received. Potential winner(s) will be contacted via private message and will be asked to provide their first and last names, age and mailing address. If a potential winner does not respond within the timeframe stated in the notification p.m., the Sponsor may select an alternate potential winner in his/her place at random from all entries received during the Entry Period.

Requirements of the Potential Winners: Except where prohibited, the potential winner(s) may be required to complete and return an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release (the "Affidavit/Release") within seven (7) days of being notified. If a potential winner fails to sign and return the Affidavit/Release within the required time period, an alternate entrant may be selected in his/her place.

Prize(s): The prize(s) are located on the applicable Giveaway page. No cash or other substitution may be made, except by the Sponsor, who reserves the right to substitute a prize with another prize of equal or greater value if the prize is not available for any reason as determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion. The winner is responsible for any taxes and fees associated with receipt or use of a prize.

General Conditions: In the event that the operation, security, or administration of the Giveaway is impaired in any way for any reason, including, but not limited to fraud, virus, or other technical problem, the Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, either: (a) suspend the Giveaway to address the impairment and then resume the Giveaway in a manner that best conforms to the spirit of these Official Rules; or (b) award the prize at random from among the eligible entries received up to the time of the impairment. The Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Giveaway or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to undermine the legitimate operation of the Giveaway may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. The Sponsor's failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. In case of a dispute as to the owner of an entry, entry will be deemed to have been submitted by the authorized account holder of the screen name from which the entry is made. The authorized account holder is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.

Release and Limitations of Liability: By participating in the Giveaway, entrants agree to release and hold harmless the Giveaway Entities from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Giveaway or receipt or use of any prize, including, but not limited to: (a) unauthorized human intervention in the Giveaway; (b) technical errors related to computers, servers, providers, or telephone or network lines; (c) printing errors; (d) lost, late, postage-due, misdirected, or undeliverable mail; (e) errors in the administration of the Giveaway or the processing of entries; or (f) injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant's participation in the Giveaway or receipt of any prize. Entrant further agrees that in any cause of action, the Giveaway Entities' liability will be limited to the cost of entering and participating in the Giveaway, and in no event shall the Giveaway Entities be liable for attorney's fees. Entrant waives the right to claim any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages.

Disputes: Except where prohibited, entrant agrees that any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, the Giveaway or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court located in the Commonwealth of Virginia. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, entrant's rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of the Sponsors in connection with the Giveaway, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of the Commonwealth of Virginia or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Publicity: Participation in the Sweepstakes constitutes Winner's consent to Sponsor's use of Winner's name, likeness, picture, portrait, voice, opinions, biographical information and state of residence for promotional, publicity or advertising purposes worldwide in any media and on the World Wide Web, in perpetuity, without further payment, consideration, review or consent (where allowable).

'A Little Piece of Heaven' by Avenged Sevenfold!

For those of you who haven't heard the song or seen the music video, it is about a man who continues to pursue his love even after death. (among other things)

Need I say more?

SLAYER.

duh. that's easy. the comics all about killing people and slaying right? what's better than slayer? plus, their lyrics are probably right up his alley too!

Lets go a little obscure. Nuclear Assault was a great thrash band from the 80's. Very heavy but typically had a positive message. Lots of songs about saving the Earth.

Maybe a little on the nose, but I immediately think of Am I Evil? by Diamond Head

Great song that has no time for rhetorical questions. Am I evil? Yes I am.

Black Sabbath: "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath"

#13 Posted by zombiejesusii (32 posts) - - Show Bio

Its not flashy, its not bright, its just Sabbath, Short Sweet and to the point. Its classic and while it isn't bright so as to stand out be recognized immediately when you first turn the page, its a lingering effect, like a "oh i just noticed he is wearing a sabbath shirt, thats pretty cool" and it stays with you in the back of your head while taking nothing out of the rest of the goings on in the story. where if he was wearing a Bright colorful shirt that may stick in the front of your brain pushing the story out. the shirt is subtle, yet effective.

Entombed. Great old school death metal that Ernie would definitely dig.

or

Testament. Souls of Black <----------------just an awesome song

#15 Posted by Violens (543 posts) - - Show Bio

No Trend - Too Many Humans. awesome post punk band.... I could picture Ernie listening to them.

#16 Posted by B_Heart (152 posts) - - Show Bio

I would go with the band In This Moment. Got to throw in something new and modern for the current generation of readers who maybe don't listen to old school punk/metal.

They are heavy and loud with a good looking female lead singer that I think Ernie would dig. Even if he doesn't seek Megadeath for Lady Death, I'd like to think he does it for some one similar. Plus the song "Iron Army" would fit perfectly with his new origin!

#17 Posted by RedheadedAtrocitus (6885 posts) - - Show Bio

Iron Maiden is perfect for Evil Ernie because that band practically typifies the heavy metal band genre. I think it goes without saying that Evil Ernie would be an Iron Maiden fan and therefore I think he would be delighted to have this emblazoned on a black shirt to wear about.

And on top of that, come on...Evil Ernie practically looks like Eddie the Head's sibling!

Disturbed's The Guy...nuff said!!!!!!!!

Goddamn it...i cant even enter and ive been a massive fan of Ernie since his first issue on Blackout comics and rebirth in Chaos. Damn you CBS!

#21 Posted by 145evil (15 posts) - - Show Bio

I know it isn't Metal but I think 2pac would be perfect for Ernie because 2pac felt that it was him alone against the world. With all that's going in Ernie's life it would be the perfect shirt.

Pissed Jeans - False Jesii Part 2.

#23 Posted by 4thhorseman (72 posts) - - Show Bio

Iced Earth would work well. They do quite a bit of concept albums from horror monsters to the coming of the anti-christ, and even has a tie in to comics with their Dark Saga album's theme being Spawn related.

#24 Posted by Diaboliquetattoo (1 posts) - - Show Bio

Black Sabbath. most definitely.I think that their music is timeless, respected, and Metal at its finest. Not to mention some evil shit! ahahahaha. So many of Black Sabbaths songs can relate to Evil Ernie------Electric Funeral?Never Say Die?Evil Woman(lady death fits that description nicely)? I'd imagine the Devil would be a fan of the group,so when Evil Ernie catches up to Satan- they would have something to talk about,an Ice breaker perhaps...lol thats my opinion!

I think Evil Ernie should be wearing a t-shirt by Hammerfall a Swedish Power Metal Band. They are intense with powerful lyrics as in Eternal Dark and commanding graphics in their art, both which represent what Evil Ernie is about.

http://www.rerockgear.com/product-2088.html

ETERNAL DARK

Living in the shadows

Live a life of sins

Now you feel the pressure

There ain't no giving in

Do you ever wander

Do you ever think

What may lie beyond you

What's the missing link

Will you enter the paradise

Will you see the light

What is your destination

Your eyes will see - eternal dark

There ain't no use behaving

Life can never change

There ain't no book to guide you

You're desperate to the range

Why do you listen

To the holy man

Sage one will take you

The only one who can

Will you enter the paradise

Will you see the light

What is your destination

Your eyes will see - eternal dark

Either Disturbed or Eddie from Iron Maiden... but I think Disturbed!

Metal is awesome, but metal t-shirts have become incredibly mainstream. They don't strike fear into the hearts of men and women quite the way they used to. Evil Ernie must embrace satire in this new age of entertainment, and wear a J-Pop T-shirt. This Kyary Pamyu Pamyu ice cream cone t-shirt still has an edge to it, but it has lots of pinks and baby blues that lesser men than Ernie would be afraid to try an pull off. It's the visual equivalent to wearing a tutu, and what does that say to one's enemies? "That guys bat$h!t crazy!"

#32 Edited by turoksonofstone (13199 posts) - - Show Bio

Suicidal Tendencies

Sooooo..have the Chaos characters been reunited? Will we see Lady Death? Or Smiley? Misfits make sense is pretty classic gear.

#33 Posted by drumguyrob (42 posts) - - Show Bio

While I know he was a metalhead, Ernie sporting a Misfits' t-shirt in his youth means he's into the horror genre too. I think Ernie would wear a 69 Eyes t-shirt.

#34 Posted by Shreds_of_Flesh (2 posts) - - Show Bio

Alright, lets be straight up. Evil Ernie has the "Thrasher/Classic Punk" look going on. All these years of being a Evil Ernie fan there has been two albums that always come to mind when I think of him. One of them, which is my choice for this contest is Darkness's "Death Squad":

I've always imagined Ernie as a kid going to the record store and as he sees this album he is just like "Hey, these dudes are cool." Just look at that cover. If that doesn't look like a shirt Evil Ernie would wear then I don't even know man. Yeah this album may be about death, destruction, and hating society- which pretty much explains Evil Ernie and that's the thing, This IS Evil Ernie, sure he was a loner outcast kid that was neglected and he eventually 'found' love but there really is no other way to explain his character. Even looking at his new anti-hero Punisher-like getting rid of the scum of society approach, he still fits this album. As a bonus, here is a song that is perfect for some ass kicking Evil Ernie badassness

Darkness - Faded Pictures

I'd have to say Iced Earth, he's already got the look and he is obviously a fan of the classics, Iced Earth is often overlooked but they've been around 27 years now putting out a steady stream of metal awesomeness that appeals to both older and younger generations.

I suggest a nasty looking Cannibal Corpse shirt. I'm not a fan, but they're much more twisted, darker and more metal than the Misfits. Pretty insane, grotesque lyrics.

#37 Posted by NihilisticDeath (1 posts) - - Show Bio

The Accused

They are the perfect blend of both Punk and Metal, Just like Ernie. They are from Seattle and are one of the earliest cross over thrash Bands. Their Music is Splatter Rock which is a homage to horror movies and gore. Also Ernie Would Look cool donning their living dead mascot: Martha Splatter Head.

The Accused have it all gnarly riffs, hardcore vocals, and mostly lyrics about killing, mangling, zombies, murder, mayhem, monsters, psychos, guts, gore, death, and Society.

@G-Man: Evil Ernie wants to get 'close to you'! Karen Carpenter looks like a zombie (well towards the end she did) and it'd be kinda awesome seeing Ernie rocking to a heavy version of 'Rainy Days & Mondays'.

Seems I'm inelligible to enter due to my living in Australia...BOOO!

Combichrist - Blut Royale

(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6MPuKXXa1k) This would be perfect for Evil since the skull and crossbones of the logo already resemble Smiley. You could also make an "Evil Ernie" skull and crossbone logo with Smiley replacing the "CC" in the center of the forehead. The lyrics are even better as making a homage to what the "Dead Mind" was like in the original Chaos! run.

"Come hear the voices in my head

They say you wanna hurt me

and they want you dead

It's scraping the bottom of the barrel of life

Theres a million different voices

And there all synchronized

Into one real army that will kill you all

Injecting my brain with adrenaline

They're marching They're squirming

They wanna get out

There armed to the teeth

It's the Blut Royal!"

G.G. Allin is the best candidate, because he is just as crazy as this MOTHERF****R!!!

#47 Posted by Tmlm (1 posts) - - Show Bio

The band to choose would be Overkill. The look of Evil Ernie was based on Overkill's lead singer Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth. Evil Ernie creator, Brian Pulido, was a big fan of theirs. Its a cool little detail that really only old school CHAOS! comics fans would get, but its a good way to give a nod to Evil Ernie's roots.
