We know we’ve got some truly tremendous talents in the Comic Vine community and, now that the world-famous Gnomon Workshop has generously supplied us with copies of their high-end instructional DVDs, we figured it was best to invite you all into a fan art contest! However, this isn’t going to be about fan art for your favorite superheroes. Oh no... they’ve gotten enough love already. This is going to be about us, the COMIC VINE STAFF, because we need some love, tribute and attention too! == TEASER ==

THE TASK : Simple. Draw a picture of myself, inferiorego Babs, G-Man, Riezner or Red L.A.M.P., either together or individually. All media is allowed. Pencils, inks, colors, crayons, paint, even glued macaroni mosaics… it’s all welcome. Don’t feel bound to depict us in regular garb. You can make us comic characters, space lords, pirates, cavemen, ad infnitum. Get creative, get wild, unleash your imaginations. But no funny business, alright? No inappropriate content… or you’re going to get in trouble.

THE RULES : You’ve got to be a resident of North America to get any prizes. Sorry. If you aren’t, you’re still free to enter - - you’ll get digital kudos and a shout-out! Also, whatever art you submit will become Comic Vine’s property to show, forever and ever.

THE PRIZES : The entire three-DVD DYNAMIC FIGURE DRAWING set. Get instruction in drawing heads, bodies and hands & feet from no less than BATMAN-artist David Finch! Two runners-up will receive one DVD - - either COMIC BOOK ILLUSTRATION WITH PHIL NOTO: PIN-UPS AND COVERS or COMIC BOOK COLORING WITH STEVE FIRCHOW.

THE DEADLINE : You have until October 4th to post your contributions in this thread. We’ll announce the winners in some colorful fashion some time after that.

NOW GET TO IT!

I've already drawn inferiorego....it was many years ago....I was a poor young man traveling on the worlds biggest and unsinkable cruise ship...he was a rich young lady living it up in first class....it was love at first sight....I drew him lying on a couch wearing only the beautiful Heart of the Ocean necklace....we enjoyed a few days together before the unsinkable ship struck an iceberg and sank...the last thing I remember was sinking below the freezing ocean

 G-Man & Babs
This may sound like an incredible coincidence, but I've already drawn a picture of both G-Man and Babs on an envelope I am planning to mail to the Comic Vine office with something special in it as a thanks for being a member for one year. I drew it last night so I could mail it out this week.

I did draw Babs in a cameo of one of my 4komas. She's in the background of the fourth panel. BLOG POST

I already have a couple instructional books on art design and computer coloring. Antarctic Press makes some great books.

#12 Posted by Green Skin (2932 posts) - - Show Bio

#13 Posted by No_name_here (1223 posts) - - Show Bio
@Green Skin:  3D is definitely accepted. It's a WIDE LATITUDE.

Hey, wait - You sent comic prizes wrom your BLLSLive all over the world! So why not to do it once again?

#20 Posted by crusader8463 (214 posts) - - Show Bio

Doesn't it kind of defeat the purpose of the contest if the prize is a learn to draw tutorial when the only way to win it in the first place is to be able to draw?

But I don't think the winner is going to be the best drawing out of all of them, it's all about just entering a submission.

@Tom Pinchuk:
queries:
1. I can't watch video's due to my lovely new dial-up internet connection (it's yours if you envy it, lol).
Is there anything in the video thats not detailed in what you typed.
2. Can i enter for fun but not victory? In other words could i put a picture up but not be eligible to win?
I'm pretty sure with what i have in mind that won't come to pass, but I'm covering the bases here.
3. I want to draw this on my skin, maybe my hairy belly as a faux-tattoo (i have a big one there already though
so maybe my equally hirsutic chest?). Not on my arse like that incident on Myspace again, i swear.
It's just my style is all
4. Post a good picture of each one of you in the 1st post? I don't know what all of you actually look like.
5. Who is this Babs person? I've been here awhile and keep asking about this but nobody will tell me.
They just act shocked or something. It's not my fault I'm isolated. I don't even know what that Greys Anatomy
show looks like.

Sure! I'll join in!
*check my profile/gallery to have a look at my pics!*

Too bad.. Anyway I'll join in as well nonetheless!

I hate that we outside of the US never get anything. Its really unfair considering this place is on the Internet which is WORLD WIDE!

I'm totally planning on shooting a few promos like this on the weekend, but they may not be comic book related.

@Bruce Vain: You have no idea how much old school WWF has shaped and warped my fragile little mind. No idea. The Warrior was my all-time favorite.

Well looks like we have another thing in common my friend cause old school WWF & WCW warped my mind as well. The Ultimate Warrior was a huge influence on me along with Big Sexy Kevin Nash , & Rowdy Roddy Piper.

Before I leave to go to my game I play the Ultimate Warrior theme to get me in the Warrior mindset.

And this is just for shits and giggles cause this is a great promo with Roddy and his Rowdies ha ha

Ohhhhhh yeeeeeeeea !!!

K. I know what I'm going to do. It'll be up in two to three days. lol.

@Bruce Vain:
I watch the old Roddy Piper Halloween clips every year when its that time.
Neither that old WWF stuff nor the Rock N Wrestling skits ever lose their value.

@Decept-O:
those are absolutely off the hook. maybe because i'm a zombie buff, idaknow, but i like the vibe i'm getting from them.

@CATMANEXE:
Thanks, bro, I appreciate it.  NOW its YOUR TURN to submit something for this Championship!  Bring It!
#38 Posted by Decept-O (7275 posts) - - Show Bio
@crusader8463:
I think Tom Pinchuk and Inferiorego said you could submit whatever you wanted and that they aren't necessarily judging on skill or talent.  Its about your effort and your rendition(s) of the Staff!
#39 Posted by CATMANEXE (17052 posts) - - Show Bio
@Decept-O:
trust me I am. Its going to be a disaster I promise, lol.
#40 Posted by Decept-O (7275 posts) - - Show Bio
@CATMANEXE:
Somehow I doubt that.  Even if you think your efforts are a "disaster" others may not.  Again, I believe Comic Vine is wanting your interpretations of the Staff, and that's what counts!

Oh, and another thing, I think Viners may be forgetting, submitting their artistic efforts of images of the Comic Vine Staff will go towards the Photoshop Quest!  So there's more incentive!

Roddy is the man there will never be a guy like him in the wrestling business anymore. Like you said none of that stuff loses their value & you never get tired of watching them.. When you watch them it brings back memories and takes you back to when you were a young kid. Watching these great superstars of that time. I've met Piper at a horror con and  he is one righteous dude. Even watched him choked out this guy cause the guy wanted it done and I couldn't blame him HA HA HA HA  . Me and my boys who grew up on these guys still do alot of the old greats mannerisms. Like I do the Warrior snarl when someone walks by lmao. We do our n.W.o. wolf kiss with our hands and do our howls at random places. My one friend does alot of Scott Hall quotes and mannerisms. Ha Ha . We all do the Flair WOO & we all do the Ohhh Yeaa. I do the Woo and the Warrior Power Press gesture when I'm playing ball and after I make a tackle. You gotta keep that shit alive cause none of these new kids know who they are and these new boring wrestlers will bring nothing to the table that will make an imprint on your mind.  So for me it's nice when people think I'm a wrestler ha ha. So instead of saying no I tell them yea and tell them my wrestling name ha ha.
