I'm guessing I'm quite a bit older than you, because I prefer the classics (dang, I remember when these were new) to the modern stuff. Some of the new stuff is really good, but I hate the Death In The Family version of the Joker, trying way too hard to be edgy. Here is my short list:

  1. The Long Halloween
  2. Year One
  3. The Dark Knight Returns
  4. Hush
  5. The Killing Joke
  6. Dark Victory
  7. Arkham Asylum
  8. Haunted Knight
  9. Court of Owls
  10. Batman / Judge Dredd: Judgement On Gotham

Daredevil has some great stuff as well. If you haven't already read, Guardian Devil, and The Man Without Fear, great stuff. Keep on reading man, take care.

@lykopis: Thanks. I love Batman hence the amount I own/have read.

Another great list for reference -- I have a ways to go with Superman but I'll be tackling Batman next. Thanks. :)

@battle_forum_junkie: I don't know how good Brubaker's run is although I've heard good things, and can believe it, and Rucka's run on Detective Comics when Batwoman was the feature character was brilliant.

Oh, I wanted to ask: Do you know how good Greg Rucka's, and Ed Brubaker's Batman runs are?

I've been thinking of picking some up.

@battle_forum_junkie: I've been a Batman fan for years, collecting for about 4 years now. It's what I focused on most, as I tried to get as many back issues as I can (got the entire series bar one issue since the start of Hush), but am focusing on trying to get other things now. I do however still get the new ones, and if I saw old ones at a good price I wouldn't pass on them.

Awesome list.

I'm pretty new to Batman comics and I've only read a few on this list.

Heck, I haven't even read Hush yet!

Man, I need to get reading..
