Now Marvel released a crazy new image introducing 'Tanarus' as the Marvel universe's new 'God of Thunder.' Could this mean the end for Thor? What do you think of Tanarus?
Well, I think it looks like it might be interesting. I will buy it to give it a chance, because we need people to do that. Otherwise comics will die. Nobody wants that, unless people want to read the same six stories about Thor being really Godly and stuff. Plus, you know, that looks like Destroyer Armour under there so...there might be a really good reason for this like...Thor is being regenerated within the armour and that's why he is creating this new identity. Or something.
i agree, i like the thor movie, but i dont necessarily like his comics, but this guy looks stupid compared to thor, but it might work out, thor will come back sooner or later
Oh now this is absurd, Are Marvel actually dumb enough to kill off Thor? The new guy looks absurd and we all know what happened when Eric Masterson took over being Thor. The series flopped. Now as Thor is making a major comeback they kill him off? I know people are mad at DC for the reboot and the erasing of a lot of key continuity but Marvel are being even more of an ass to their readers by first tempting the return of Johnny Storm less than a year after he was 'killed' which is too soon and now they are killing Thor and bringing in this pathetic knock off? That's weak Marvel. Fortunately it hasn't put me off getting the Amazing Spider-Man as that seems to be the exception to Marvel's failures so far this year.
Thor is probably in a coma similar to Odin's Odinsleep or something and this guy was probably the previous god of thunder. It'll probably be something along those lines I think
He doesn't look like he has an inclination towards good. And looks like he's pulled a tap off the wall. That aside, decent enough, however he is no Thor, and could never replace him.
I don't mind the design, but I do think it's far too soon after Thor's return. And don't we have enough alternate Thors to make up an entire army anyways?

Also, I'm disappointed to see that the internet hasn't figured it out yet. Even if this is the new "god of thunder" and even if Thor is going to get "killed," he'll be back next summer when the Avengers movie comes out.

This is how marketing works.
Then what is the point of killing or replacing him? They should leave him be. His movie just came out and i'm sure it attracted some new fans who are interested in the character. Now they want to get rid of him for a while. It doesn't really make sense -___-
does it really matter? You know Tanarus will over step his boundaries and end up trying to take over Odin's position or take over the world and thor will come back and stop him or something.
I like his suit and his staff but he does look pretty old. I will expect him to stand around more than Thor did and act more as an advisor to Odin.
Seeing how Tanarus is still appearing in a book titled the Mighty Thor (that was just relaunched, remember), I think it is pretty safe to say that this is going to be an extremely short-lived stunt. Likely, Thor will just be sidelined due to injuries sustained fighting the Hulk, and will be back in time for the Avengers movie.

when you rattle the cage loud enough, people listen for some odd reason. it's just classic marketing, and it's just plain nonsense.

I like the new character, but if he is the new God of Thunder, then someone has to give him those powers, unless he is someone like Ronan. Therefore, most likely, some Asgardians live. What bothers me is that Thor dies and other Norse and other powerful beings live. If Thor dies, I want True Ragnarok and for all uber powered guys to die except like one. This is a real shame. Thor is a Viking god. His death should only result from True Ragnarok, and nothing less.

It could easily just mean that Thor has a new job within his pantheon. Maybe now he's the god of streams and flowers, or he takes over from Odin again, or Odin kicks him out to go to Earth again, etc. Heck, maybe the serpent actually takes over and puts all his own people in charge.
