The Suicide Squad Gets A New Leader

Gracing the cover of SUICIDE SQUAD #19 is the new leader of the team: but who is he? The 2-page cover features Deadshot, and the other members of the Suicide Squad in pretty bad shape after being shot by a certain man whose face is wrapped in bandages. I've consistently enjoyed this book. So I see the bodies strewn around all over the place but they can't be killing off Amanda, WTF Certified? Hush? PS.

it is the Unknown Soldier he was in the back up for G. I. Combat 
 
tho there's a possibility that he/she thinks it's the Joker as both have mentally/personality issues

DC seems to always be looking for a place for the Unknown Soldier. I hope he's a good fit here.

That's an awesome way to use characters from cancelled books. I think he's a cool addition to the team.

I love the Unknown Soldier that Palmiotti and Gray wrote so I am extremely excited for this. I'm glad they're keeping the character current.

It was the best part of of GI Combat by far. Such an awesome character.

I seen a preview of the character awhile back, he seems very interesting, and a perfect fit in SS.

This definitely looks promising - glad they haven't given up on the Unknown Soldier.

Big Fan of the older stuff (Kubert) and the most recent G.I.Combat.

I've been really digging Suicide Squad...however... 
 

@FoxxFireArt: Personally? I seriously doubt it, sir. However given all other post iterations that we've shared an interest in, we rarely see eye to eye. This was a refreshing change of pace.

Huh, might go ahead and check this book out again. Dropped it after the first abysmal issues 1-4. Maybe I've had time by now to calm down over Stipper-Harley, Halle-Waller and most egregious of all No-Stache-Deadshot.

Edit - I like what I'm hearing re: the linked interview. Looks like I'll be checking out #20.

I'm so glad this is an established classic character like Unknown Soldier.. But a thought occurred to me. Just my idea, nothing confirmed or official spoiler.. But I'll put it in spoiler blocks just in case.

My first thought is it is really The Joker. His face healing and wrapped up and pretending to be The Unknown Soldier to get into the Squad and take it over /execute every one. Harley's clinging to him and laughing, and everyone else being shot, just reinforced that feeling. Of course, that could be what they want us to suspect.

Wow...with Unknown Soldier I actually am motivated to gt this. Amazing...

It is great to see the unknown Solider back in comics, but I am not too familiar with this version (this one being the original). I have only read the Unknown Solider from Africa which was an amazing series by the way.

no idea who he is. wouldnt be caught dead reading something called g.i. combat. seriously they couldnt come up with someone more interesting? so many great villians havent been introduced yet. catman???? he and deathlock always bounced well off of each other even when they werent getting along

That prediction's pretty scary because it could totally happen, and would definitely fit with the tone of this book. I really hope that's not it though, I'm BEYOND tired of that guy.

Guess what, nobody cares. Seriously, how has this comic not been canceled already?
