@Cafeterialoca: Why do you hate X so much? what has the character ever done to you? And there is so much more to X then wolverine with boobs she also has pretty green eyes, and dont just jump at people just because they like a character I love the runaways and i like hazmat.
And a character can have more then 1 friend just because Lou wrote X to be friends with jubilee and gambit ( that i still kinda dislike) doesn't mean she is no longer friends with mercury and don't bash Laura for her straight hair its pretty and if she cut her hair I think she would look more like wolverine (and thats a bad thing).
well if anything we have seen from AvsX that the writers may switch things up from what was orginally pitched. So maybe this wont be a total deathmatch the entire book?
lol i openly admit to only reading avengers initiative and academy for the teachers, hope everyone but laura dies XD
...I strongly dislike you.
Why are X-23 fans so selfish?
thats just it, im not a x-23 fan i just hate 90% of the characters created from the latest "new generation" of heroes. Mettle and hazmat were the only ones i could really stomach and even they were both massive rehashes of other characters. I was much more interested in the teachers. tigras new role as a mom (and not being a punching bag anymore), or pym doning the wasp mantle and trying to redeem himself, quicksilvers redemption, and speedballs return. hell did i read the Future Foundation books for the kids no I wanted more Sue Reed Ben and Johnny.
Honestly? I thought the Academy kids were a step in originality. Compared to the Young Avengers who are all twisted versions of actual Avengers? Hazmat is extremely unique! So are the Runaways!
And X-23 is the one you don't want to die? Wolverine with boobs?
seniority shes been around longer thats the only reason (im purposly ignoring darkhawk), and how is hazmat unique there are tons of heroes/villains with radiation/toxic based power, and even more doom and gloom the world sucks teenagers. And how were the academy kids a step in originality every single one of them was a rip off of existing characters they just mixed in predictable teen drama crap you could get from any mid 90s tv show...god i miss saved by the bell
Compared to X-23?! X-23 even has her own Sabretooth! And you said it yourself! Villains have radiation powers, but Hazmat is a hero! And the Runaways lasted quite a while! So why piss all over them for a very dull looking girl with straight hair?
Seriously, X-23 is the one they should get rid of to teach you all a lesson of ignoring other teenage heroes. You all forgot how Mercury was her best friend and act like Jubilee always was.
really not grasping the concept that i dont actually care about x-23 are you, fine let me rephrase this i hope they all die in this lord of the flys thunderdome hunger games gladiator rip off event or atleast fade into obscurity and give the teachers their own book

You think the teachers will just get a book if these kids die?!
You want characters that need to be killed off? Look no further to Wolverine, Cap, Iron Man, and so on! Wolverine is in 6 books, Captain America is in 5, Hawkeye is in 4, Iron Man is in 4, Hulk is in 4, and so on! You want to show Marvel you want those lesser characters? Support books about lesser characters, not continually buy things that have Wolverine on the cover.
@Cafeterialoca: your very annoying. just because two people say they want x-23 to love doesn't mean they are selfish, they are joking.
and the fact that you refer to her as "wolverine with boobs" mean you don't know much about her.
have you ever though that this might be a simulation? since when is arcade a god, don't be quick to judge, mettle might be alive, your not the only one mad about that.
Thing is, they're going to reveal more about Arcade by issue 7, and I very much doubt they'll reveal the kids as alive. They're dead.
@DH69: You seriously want all the characters to be killed is a very pessimistic point of view. I mean, I have heroes in there I care about, Niko, X-23, Hazmat, Mettle. Many others do too. I think it's just sad you want them all to be killed off.

Okay, this has so many flaws in it I really don't even know where to start. You're assuming we forgot about x-23 and mercury or her relationship with Hellion, see, no. However, she has moved on, made new friends as well. Also, I have to wonder why you seem to think people who like X-23 don't care about Niko or any of the others. The Runaways was one of my favorite books and I always liked Niko. I'm sad to see her there too, though wondering why she can't use her magic to escape.
I'm sorry but, that comment about her hair kinda implies you're hatred for the character is sorta superficial at best. I love X-23 but that's because she's been written well, has a compelling back story and has been struggling with her instincts to kill and her training vs her own desires to be a good person. I hate her here cause the very concept of this undermines everything about this character.

I think what bugs me about X-23 is that as you said "She moved on and made new friends." And now she's killing one of those friends.
So what's going to happen next? She's going to "Move on" from the friends she's killed and join the Young Avengers til she kills one of them, "moves on" and repeats the cycle endlessly?
That's what annoys me about X-23. She can't evolve as a character because they always bring her back to step one and then ignore all the characters she's met and interacted with. Liu even said she didn't like the new X-Men, so now she's off playing with Gambit, Wolverine and Jubilee, two of those three who are just overexposed enough as it is.
What I hate is that Marvel assumes characters can exist on their own and abandon their supporting casts, when supporting casts do help make the character. What I don't like about X-23 is that she can literally crap on other characters with her popularity and then move on to dump on others. She's done it to the New X-Men, and now she's about to do it to the Academy kids.
@Mezmero: Yes, she would be very empathetic having won a murder game, yes? No.
@RalfvdH: Link, please?
People, stop fighting over who should or shouldn't die. If you don't want to see a favourite of yours killed by Hopeless then other people who don't want their favourites killed either are your allies, not enemies. The only thing that needs to die is the book.

@Cafeterialoca: Thats what happens when marvel does not care bout their teenage heroes, but i'll wait....
Apparently the only way to be a safe teenage hero is being gay (not that there's anything wrong with that) or being a snarky female (Kate Bishop).
I am still hoping for a twist , i won't believe that marvel would sacrifice so much teams and characters needlessly. i've been working on some theories but i won't believe until i see it.
They're making a teenage X-Force team. I bet you anything.
@TheAcidSkull: I bet you that the kids who leave Avengers Arena will put a team together where they kill supervillains, like X-Force or the current Thunderbolts.
@Cafeterialoca: I think in order for these guys to survive so long, they probably aren't killing, or at least are trying to avoid doing so at all costs. Hopeless has mentioned that what Arcade wants and what he gets aren't exactly the same thing, which would make sense as most of these characters simply couldn't be forced to kill. Though I obviously have very dim hopes for the series, I am not quite so cynical as to believe some hard-nosed psycho will emerge from this competition.
Anyhow, regardless of any of that, if Marvel did assemble a teenage X-Force there's almost no way that Laura would be on it. Not only would that be completely antithetical to her own wishes, but Wolverine would kill just about anyone who so much as thought of trying it. The funny thing is, badassery doesn't really impress most people, and I think people who care about Laura would much rather see her catch a break from having to kill things. That is, in fact, the only good that could come out of her death in Arena: peace.

The only way X-23 will ever stop being a killing machine is if she rips out her claws. Til then, she will always be used as a weapon, no matter what writer takes over.
@Cafeterialoca: I'd totally be okay with that. It'd be a heck of a lot more meaningful than having Arcade kill her. Heh. That wouldn't stop a writer from forcing her to put them back on (hello miraculous discovery of yet another supply of Trigger scent!) but a civilian non-active roster role would be well-deserved for her at this point.
To comment on the teaser itself: I know a few folks have said that it smacks of desperation/flagging sales but there seem to be a lot of these mid-season promotions popping up at this point. Considering how Hopeless theoretically planned this from the word go as a slow-burn ongoing, I find it highly unlikely that anything is going to change in the book this early.
@Cafeterialoca: That wouldn't qualify as a correction since X-23 was the topic of your remark (and thus of my response). I won't go so far as to say it's impossible for a kill by Arcade to be meaningful, but I've yet to see one.

Kids being plucked from their lives to fight to the death after they done much heroes training is meaningless.

If your implying that any of the characters of Avengers Academy are unoriginal soley because of their powers, then I really can't take you seriously at all.
Absolutley none of their problems where "predictable" nor where any of their personalities unoriginal. You, sir, are sorely mistaken
hehe... someone started a pepition to get this cancelled... Asking for at least 30.000 supporters... got about 65 now. :P
I don't see the big deal....
Honestly? I don't think most people even know about the petition. If the petition was more advertised, I guarentee the signatures would be through the roof.
