The Future of IRON MAN is Marvel NOW!

Last week Marvel teased the new creative team for IRON MAN. One of the questions I had was what would the actual title be? Would it still be INVINCIBLE as the teaser suggested? Will there be a different adjective? Now we know.

Kieron Gillen and Greg Land will be kicking things off on IRON MAN #1.

Starting in November, the new ongoing series will take the Marvel Universe in an "exciting all-new direction." There will be loads of creative switches happening along with the new #1s. Just remember, it's not a reboot.

“Kieron and Greg are about to take Iron Man on a journey unlike anything he's ever experienced,” said Marvel Editor In Chief Axel Alonso. “This creative team took the X-Men to the next level, and with Iron Man they’re taking everything you know and love about the character and putting a spin on it that will have readers buzzing. Wait until you see what the new suit — I mean, suits -- of armor can do!”

Marvel NOW! is the culmination of Marvel ReEvolution, the groundbreaking new initiative to evolve the comic book experience through innovation. With Iron Man, Marvel NOW! ensures fans will see a side of Tony Stark, never seen before.

The story will focus on him questioning things about himself and trying to find out exactly how the universe ticks, what’s this all about and why he does this anyway,” explained Kieron Gillen in an interview with Marvel.com. “There will be a lot of changes in the armor throughout the series; in the first five issues there will be a different armor every issue.

Each issue of Iron Man includes a code for a free digital copy on the Marvel Comics app for iOS and Android devices. Additionally, each issue of Iron Man features special augmented reality content available exclusive through the Marvel AR app – including cover recaps, behind the scenes features and more that add value to your reading experience at no additional cost.
“Not only does every book with the Marvel NOW! logo feature a new superstar creative team and blockbuster story, but they also come with all-new incentives for our retailer partners,” explained David Gabriel, Senior Vice-President of Sales, Marvel Entertainment.. “We want to make sure every comic shop nationwide is fully stocked to meet the high demand we’re already seeing for Marvel NOW! I'm looking forward to this, as a current reader of Iron Man its going to be interesting where Gillen takes this series.

A jumping on point for Iron Man or just a rebranding of the existing series? I have a couple of trades so ill probably grab a couple to see how this goes. Can anyone point me to some of the main arcs i can pick up in the meantime?

Well good to see that Tony still is Iron Man.

Tony Stark with the likeness of a juice-head with signature Land stubble and Pepper Potts with the likeness of that signature Land.....orgasam. CAN'T. WAIT. Gillen deserves better.

Gillen is going to make this series good.

I Had to drop Fractions run due to the sheer boringness of it. I'll try picking it back up here and see where it goes :)

I saw something on here not long ago that said Tony Stark was Iron Man no longer.

I'm interested as long as its Tony in the suit.

what have they done to the armor? its like a step back...

i like the creative team, but i dont like that suit.

I'm looking forward too this. Gillen has a lot to live up too as I was a fan of Fractions work on this and will be sad too see him go. Not too sure on Land as artist wasn't huge fan on his X-Men stuff

@zackattack529: They were $3.99 before this anyway besides FF and Deadpool although it would be great if they went back down too $2.99 but I don't see that

as long as they stop running him in to the ground only to build a new suit , rise almost to the top only to knock him back down again and start all over i might pick this up.

How can it NOT be a reboot when all the comics are going back to issue 1? Live and let live I guess.

They are all part of the same line so I think we can safely assume that they will be. I hate their BS excuse for it ("free digital copy") as if there is a demand for it or they are giving their customers have a choice. I would gladly forgo a copy I will never use to pay the same price DC offers for their books.

You wouldn't be suggesting that the fallout from Marvel's events is superficial and almost meaningless would you? Why, I've never head such a thing...

Back to suits of Armor instead of being the Armor? Oh well, I guess Fraction Iron Man concepts was too cutting edge.

I enjoyed Iron Man during Dark Reign (Worlds Most Wanted) and even after that. But after issue #500 I've just observed from the sidelines. Unless Gillion does some mind-blowing stuff and Lands art is justifiable, I'll pass.

Huh, was gonna think about it until I learned it was still Tony. Oh well.

I'm loving the black and gold color scheme. Been wishing for the X-Men to go back those colors for some time now.
