Last week Marvel teased the new creative team for IRON MAN. One of the questions I had was what would the actual title be? Would it still be INVINCIBLE as the teaser suggested? Will there be a different adjective? Now we know.

Kieron Gillen and Greg Land will be kicking things off on IRON MAN #1.

Starting in November, the new ongoing series will take the Marvel Universe in an "exciting all-new direction." There will be loads of creative switches happening along with the new #1s. Just remember, it's not a reboot.

Technical visionary. Unparalleled engineer. Avenger. Iron Man has done it all, from combating the greatest threats facing the Marvel Universe to dealing with his own inner demons. Now, when his greatest invention becomes his greatest mistake, Iron Man must act fact…and build faster! The lethal techno virus Extremis is out in the wild and for grabs to the highest bidder! It’s up to Tony Stark to contain it and that means creating a new suit of armor!

“Kieron and Greg are about to take Iron Man on a journey unlike anything he's ever experienced,” said Marvel Editor In Chief Axel Alonso. “This creative team took the X-Men to the next level, and with Iron Man they’re taking everything you know and love about the character and putting a spin on it that will have readers buzzing. Wait until you see what the new suit — I mean, suits -- of armor can do!”

Marvel NOW! is the culmination of Marvel ReEvolution, the groundbreaking new initiative to evolve the comic book experience through innovation. With Iron Man, Marvel NOW! ensures fans will see a side of Tony Stark, never seen before.

The story will focus on him questioning things about himself and trying to find out exactly how the universe ticks, what’s this all about and why he does this anyway,” explained Kieron Gillen in an interview with Marvel.com. “There will be a lot of changes in the armor throughout the series; in the first five issues there will be a different armor every issue.

Each issue of Iron Man includes a code for a free digital copy on the Marvel Comics app for iOS and Android devices. Additionally, each issue of Iron Man features special augmented reality content available exclusive through the Marvel AR app – including cover recaps, behind the scenes features and more that add value to your reading experience at no additional cost.
“Not only does every book with the Marvel NOW! logo feature a new superstar creative team and blockbuster story, but they also come with all-new incentives for our retailer partners,” explained David Gabriel, Senior Vice-President of Sales, Marvel Entertainment.. “We want to make sure every comic shop nationwide is fully stocked to meet the high demand we’re already seeing for Marvel NOW! And want to make sure their voices are heard throughout this exciting time. Stay tuned for more news on how Marvel will be working directly with retailers to make sure our programs address their needs.”

Probably will pick this up but I expect Tony Stark to pull faces at Pepper a lot.

I'm looking forward to this, as a current reader of Iron Man its going to be interesting where Gillen takes this series.

too bad Larroca is leaving

#4 Posted by kagato (244 posts) - - Show Bio

A jumping on point for Iron Man or just a rebranding of the existing series? I have a couple of trades so ill probably grab a couple to see how this goes. Can anyone point me to some of the main arcs i can pick up in the meantime?

Well good to see that Tony still is Iron Man.

Haven't they used the Extremis virus as a plot device before? Ah well at least Tony is Iron Man instead of Rhodey.

Kieron Gillen? Count me in!

Where did the rest of Iron Man's legs go?

Are they in a different suit? Did they get their own spin-off series?

#9 Posted by shrmntnk62 (250 posts) - - Show Bio

I really like that new costume.

#10 Posted by simonchan (98 posts) - - Show Bio

my questions is if tony stark is even in that armor... I know this is the mainframe colors but still... hmmm rodey?

#11 Posted by JamDamage (1105 posts) - - Show Bio

To many suits. Seems like the the last red and gold with all the lights just came out.

"Just remember, its not a reboot." Well that's what they ALL say when house is being cleaned up so...I'lls ay what I tell others..I'll believe it when I see it. :)

Tony Stark with the likeness of a juice-head with signature Land stubble and Pepper Potts with the likeness of that signature Land.....orgasam. CAN'T. WAIT. Gillen deserves better.

#16 Posted by BushidoBlack (116 posts) - - Show Bio

Gillen is going to make this series good.

#17 Posted by Bluefox170 (377 posts) - - Show Bio

I Had to drop Fractions run due to the sheer boringness of it. I'll try picking it back up here and see where it goes :)

Hasn't this type of arc already been done. You know, the whole "my weapons hurt people."

#19 Posted by LordRequiem (1302 posts) - - Show Bio

I saw something on here not long ago that said Tony Stark was Iron Man no longer.

#20 Posted by Tyrannotaur (288 posts) - - Show Bio

I'm interested as long as its Tony in the suit.

#21 Posted by Novemberx2 (332 posts) - - Show Bio

what have they done to the armor? its like a step back...

#22 Posted by Novemberx2 (332 posts) - - Show Bio

@LordRequiem: That in the current invincible ironman series. tony has pretended to stop being ironman to trick his enemies so war machine can stop them

I'm looking forward too this. Gillen has a lot to live up too as I was a fan of Fractions work on this and will be sad too see him go. Not too sure on Land as artist wasn't huge fan on his X-Men stuff

@zackattack529: They were $3.99 before this anyway besides FF and Deadpool although it would be great if they went back down too $2.99 but I don't see that

#25 Posted by DEGRAAF (7813 posts) - - Show Bio

as long as they stop running him in to the ground only to build a new suit , rise almost to the top only to knock him back down again and start all over i might pick this up.

#26 Posted by CaptainUseless (730 posts) - - Show Bio

Looks a lot like Mainframe

#27 Posted by HotSauceCommittee (345 posts) - - Show Bio

Iron Man =)

Gillen =D

Land =(

#28 Posted by fodigg (6094 posts) - - Show Bio

Sad to see Land working on Iron Man instead of nothing.

#29 Posted by ahgunsillyo (112 posts) - - Show Bio

Oh, great. Now I'm really not going to be able to tell the difference between Pepper Potts and Bethany Cabe.

#30 Posted by KRYPTON (1886 posts) - - Show Bio

How can it NOT be a reboot when all the comics are going back to issue 1? Live and let live I guess.

#31 Posted by Narok24 (43 posts) - - Show Bio

@JamDamage: That's because it did.

#32 Posted by Or35ti (1101 posts) - - Show Bio

Looks good. I have a feeling this will be much darker for Tony Stark to go black over red.

#33 Posted by AngeTheDude (157 posts) - - Show Bio

I would have been interested if it wasn't for Greg Land

#34 Posted by warpgirl (52 posts) - - Show Bio

whatever happened to the whole "Heroic Age" thing? You know, when Heroes where supposed to be Heroes again and get back to ... being heroes, and you knew who the heroes were...

yah... that lasted a long time

They are all part of the same line so I think we can safely assume that they will be. I hate their BS excuse for it ("free digital copy") as if there is a demand for it or they are giving their customers have a choice. I would gladly forgo a copy I will never use to pay the same price DC offers for their books.

You wouldn't be suggesting that the fallout from Marvel's events is superficial and almost meaningless would you? Why, I've never head such a thing...

#37 Posted by BiteMe-Fanboy (7118 posts) - - Show Bio

I hope the black and gold armor doesn't stick.

#38 Posted by Meteorite (3347 posts) - - Show Bio

Does anyone know whether Gillen is still going to be writing Uncanny?

#39 Posted by God_Spawn (36024 posts) - - Show Bio

@Meteorite: UXM is cancelled after issue 20.

Hmmm....sounds like $4 just to see a different set of armour in each issue.

#41 Posted by The Stegman (20875 posts) - - Show Bio
Didn't DC also say The New 52 wasn't a reboot?
#42 Posted by americanpzycho (19 posts) - - Show Bio

"With Iron Man, Marvel NOW! ensures fans will see a side of Tony Stark, never seen before."

Pretty sure it will be Tony behind the suit!

#43 Posted by haydenclaireheroes (8760 posts) - - Show Bio

This is a series that I will be picking up

#44 Posted by DMC (1549 posts) - - Show Bio

Back to suits of Armor instead of being the Armor? Oh well, I guess Fraction Iron Man concepts was too cutting edge.

I enjoyed Iron Man during Dark Reign (Worlds Most Wanted) and even after that. But after issue #500 I've just observed from the sidelines. Unless Gillion does some mind-blowing stuff and Lands art is justifiable, I'll pass.

#45 Edited by DATNIGGA (1185 posts) - - Show Bio

Why does iron man look like Mainframe?

@RedheadedAtrocitus: Its not cause if it was they would completely erase everything but instead marvel now is just coming out of the carnage that was AvX. its not a reboot its more like a new age

#46 Posted by Avenging-X-Bolt (11768 posts) - - Show Bio

Huh, was gonna think about it until I learned it was still Tony. Oh well.

#47 Posted by One_Eye (783 posts) - - Show Bio

I'm loving the black and gold color scheme. Been wishing for the X-Men to go back those colors for some time now.
