Teaser: SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #14

You better head for the hills, Kingpin. Remember that time Spider-Man absolutely wrecked and humiliated Fisk while he was in prison? Well, it looks like the Superior Spider-Man is aiming to duplicate that savage beating -- and in the process take down Kingpin's empire in New York. Otto is aiming to clean up the streets and, naturally, this means toppling Shadowland.

As you can tell by the above cover, "Parker" will have an all-new look. But that's not the only change, Viners. Marvel says the web-head will have brand new allies, too. Since he's diving fists first into Shadowland, expect lots of ninja action and the return of Hobgoblin(s). But this has me curious... who do you think Otto's new allies will be? Based on the cover, it looks like he has an army? Written by Dan Slott and illustrated by Humberto Ramos, SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #14 goes on sale this July.

A few days ago, Marvel released a preview for SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN #9 as well. What I find odd is they promoted it as a big change for the book -- one of the characters will finally take full control of the hero's body. But the information here -- a chapter which takes place five issues later -- clearly confirms Otto's in the driver's seat. Can't say I'm surprised with that decision, but it's a bit odd they're cool with revealing that so soon.

So now they are changing the 616 costume to match Ultimates costume? Meh

I don't think that's a villain. I think those are his allies. Look at the Spidey-like goggles on all of them.

I'm thinking that Doc Ock expells Peter out of his body complete, but I think Peter will escape somehow.

I think I have an idea, and I hope that I'm wrong...

But, didn't they say that issue #9 was going to piss the fans off even more? Since Peter will be fighting with Otto for control over his body in that issue, maybe it doesn't just mean he loses the "fight" but maybe disappears for good? D:

hmm i actually like the new costume. it says 'otto' more then 'peter'. we all knew Otto wasnt going to run around in the red and blue, and while some of you might not like Ramos'(i think) rendition, another artist might do it for you. give it time, let it grow on you before you all start poo-poo'ing it

All those people who hated on Slott for creating the Superior Spider-man can begin thanking him for all of the great story arcs that are resulting because of the change. That being said, I really miss Peter Parker as Spider-man.

umm this is strange because part of this picture was on the teaser for superior spider-week

Maybe this is Peter, maybe in issue 9 Pete regains control, but leaves the superior title, so in Superior Spider-Man 14, Peter is the Superior one and not Otto.

so looks like he'll be delegating his hero work to henchmen or volunteers of some sort, not a 100% on the new suit think it needs a bit of red in the middle to take away from all that black

This is pretty cool. I thought they had forgotten about Kingpin.

I don't know how anybody can even begin to guess what's going to happen. Slott has been superior at throwing me for a loop whenever I think I have a grasp on what's going to happen next. Glad to see him and Ramos keeping up the good work and pushing more quality stories out!

Ive been thinking Spidey should be going after the Kingpin hardcore since he became a Spidey villain again. Im glad thats happening even if it isnt exactly the Spidey I was thinking

Sounds like a interesting, and hopefully exciting, turn of events. Despite my initial worries about the direction SSM took, Dan Slott has put much of those anxieties to bed with some entertaining stories. I'm looking forward to seeing where the series takes us.

I'd say it looks more like the Alex Ross concept are for the spider-suit in Rami's first movie. Black lenses and all.

Spidey's eyes kinda don't look like the SpOck lenses?

His new look looks like a mix of Ben Reilly and May Parker's (MC2 Universe Spider-girl) costume

Wasn't it name dropped that SpOck would be forming his own Sinister Six. In any case we still have SpOck in the driving seat. How wonderful. Yet another fall in Spider-Man's history as this luanatic ruins everything Peter has worked for. I'm definitely staying away from Spider-Man until this is all over. Should be another year or so before Peter is back IMO.

That costume looks horrible. Here's to hoping that it is a Shadowland specific outfit only for this story arc, and Otto Spidey will be back to his regular superior suit by the end of it.

Where's the contradiction? I love the New 52 but I also miss pre-New 52 stories. I miss my '01 Impala but my '09 is just as good, if not much better. He's saying that the current story is enjoyable but he still misses Peter in the lead role. I read it as entirely, and clearly, subjective.

Superior is a story arc, and right now it's too early for Pete to be back in charge. But a period where we think he's gone would fit.

interesting the article seems to be shortened to what is on www.marvel.com excited for spidey summer, the fact agent venom comes face to face with superior spider-man (and i believe the symbiote will realize that ain't peter) new allies' green goblin is back i'll call it now it's harry osborn :) #nerdgasism

I like the costume. It does remind me of Miles' costume. Either way I'm looking forward to reading this Superior Spider-Man raiding Shadowland.

Yep,i think the people in the background are his allies because the one near Ramos's signature has a spider on his chest...

I'm assuming that it's too early for Parker to come back. Maybe a year later or so he will.

I am very concerned about this. One of the only reasons that I think Superior Spider-man works is because of Peter's spirit being there to critique and try to regain control. Without this, it will just be Ock with his creepiness, obnoxious pride, and lack of morality completely defiling the name of Spider-man.

The suit reminds me of that alternate reality Spider-Man who becomes an assassin working together with Wolverine in that one What If story.

Pity they spoiled another issue though. It would be nice to read a story I don't already know the ending to, Marvel.

Plus hey, Humberto Ramos is tracing his cover to 700 again. Too soon Ramos.
