Back at C2E2, it was announced that Jeph Loeb and Simone Bianchi were teaming up once again to tell the story of Sabretooth Reborn in the pages of WOLVERINE. These two are the ones that killed him and now we'll find out how he's been back in the pages of WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN.

Today, Marvel has released information on the variant cover for WOLVERINE #310 by Stephen Platt.

Stephen Platt first grabbed my attention when doing the final issues of MARC SPECTOR: MOON KNIGHT in 1994. He's recently been doing variant covers for Marvel.

Marvel is proud to present your first look at superstar artist Stephen Platt’s sketch variant cover to Wolverine #310, the explosive opener to “Sabretooth Reborn!” Sabretooth has returned, and nothing will stop him from getting revenge on Wolverine! But how could he have survived his last encounter with Logan? The blockbuster team of Jeph Loeb and Simone Bianchi bring the answers and high-stakes action with the return of one of Wolverine’s greatest foes in Wolverine #310, coming to comic shops everywhere, the Marvel Comics app and the Marvel Digital Comics Shop this July.

About time he was brought back!

SPLATT! Haven't seen his art in some time! Welcome back man! Way to move beyond the Lifield style of drawing.

@Dedpool He actually did some variants for Uncanny X-Men and X-Sanction. How did j not know this?
#5 Posted by Cafeterialoca (1581 posts) - - Show Bio

@CaioTrubat: I'd rather he'd stay dead. He's a boring villain who does one thing, chase after Wolverine and doesn't die.

#6 Posted by Cafeterialoca (1581 posts) - - Show Bio

And if this book kills Cloak and Dagger, I'll be VERY pissed.

#7 Posted by Inverno (13757 posts) - - Show Bio

@Cafeterialoca: I was referring to the artist :-P

#8 Posted by Cafeterialoca (1581 posts) - - Show Bio

@CaioTrubat: Well I feel sheepish.

@Dedpool: Sadly, he looks like he now belongs to the Yenil Lu school of drawing. But anything that is not Liefeld is a win.

Wow, that is one SICK cover.

I'm gonna guess there are mutiple sabretooths and romulus has sinisters cloning tech

Sabretooth is an EXCELLENT villian. He actually lost some footing after the 90's when Wolverine became nearly invulnerable and super popular. It used to be that Sabretooth was the only character Wolverine couldn't beat, which made Creed sooo much more bad ass. Not only did he regularly beat the best there is, but he did it without claws. It made him so imposing. I'm glad he's coming back, and he better be able to kick Wolverine's ass... it's make both characters better in the long run...

#13 Posted by Cafeterialoca (1581 posts) - - Show Bio

@Xtremesteve: I'm against it though. There's not much you can do with this relationship anymore. Even worst, two other good characters, Cloak and Dagger, will probably be killed off for this repetitive "We can't hurt each other" battles.

Back to the REAL Wolvie. Before he opened his school of kiddies.

I will Love having Sabretooth back. Its way past time for his return. PS...Killing Cloak and/or Dagger would an enormous mistake!

Another character coming back eh, that's fine, it's one that most wish to return.

#18 Posted by devourerofworlds (40 posts) - - Show Bio

He better be back to kicking more ass including wolverine, since he found a way to come back to life and also beat the supposed finality of the Murumasa Blade.

Glad that Sabre's back....but why, oh why have Jeph Loeb write him? Has Marvel forgotten War of the Hulks THAT fast?

Great cover.

So I'm going to make the guess that Sabertooth's soul escaped hell and inhabited his last remaining Marauder clone made by Mr. Sinister. Makes sense to me.

The story is only telling his return, he's actually been back in the MU for about 6 months. He's been in both Wolverine's solo book and Wolverine and the Xmen, and Jason Aaron has given him a pretty good status quo in my opinion. He's the head of the underworld crime in Asia and has Mystique, Lord Deathstrike and the new Silver Samurai working for him. He also had a amazing bloodbath of a fight with Beast in Wolverine and the Xmen. Alot has been done with him lately so anyone complaining about him coming back shouldn't worry, because he's been back and it apparently didn't affect your life too much, you'll be ok. Does anyone who comments on these articles even read comic books???

He was doing movie story-boards. I saw his name in the credits of the Iron Man movie.

Where do C&D come into this?

#34 Posted by Cafeterialoca (1581 posts) - - Show Bio

@X35: Have you seen the previews? Wolverine is interrogating Cloak who is suicidal cause Sabretooth kidnapped Dagger. Knowing Loeb, she's as good as dead.

#35 Posted by X35 (6450 posts) - - Show Bio

@Cafeterialoca: Ahhh... no i hadn't seen the previews.

She's as good as dead AND raped ¬_¬

#36 Posted by Cafeterialoca (1581 posts) - - Show Bio

@X35: I know. That's why I'm against the book.

You can never keep a good villain down, even after cutting his head off. I can hardly wait to see the sick, twisted feats that Creed accomplishes.

Awesome cover. I love it. Not sure if I like the direct or variant edition better.
