Marvel is becoming the master at the teaser. They constantly release ominous images that rouse our curiosity. Today they have released a simple one: THIS IS WAR.

It's clear how this would involve Thor. But what does Spider-Man have to do with it? That's the question. The only other bit Marvel has released along with this image is the fact that more information will be revealed at the Amazing Spider-Man penel during Comic-Con International Sunday, July 15, at 12:30 pm.

We have to wonder why information would be released during a Spider-Man panel rather than an overal Marvel one. What is Spider-Man up to now?

Update

Here's the other teaser posted today at Marvel.com

Probably spidey has nothing to do with it, just using that event to show this new crossover

Dear Marvel, back to back to back events are not always good. That is all.

I so much agree!

Again?

Just because Marvel constantly puts out vague teasers with nothing more than a word or a phrase doesn't mean they're 'masters' at the tease. Proper teasing takes more art and ingenuity.

I just hope there is a good reason these two would have a war.

Yawn

I'm wondering, are there any title that aren't involved with events from marvel? because it looks like they ALWAYS have one event or another (I read image vertigo and DC so I wouldn't know!)

#9 Posted by danhimself (18751 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

I'm pretty sure that this is still dealing with AvX and it's been said that Spider-man will be playing a huge role in the event at some point

#10 Posted by Remi (613 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

LMAO. Another event? XD

My thoughts exactly. This is getting quite tiring now. I'd hope Marvel would take a break from all this but it seems I was mistaken.

I wonder at how so many are against being entertained. Complaints upon complaints upon complaints. And the cycle continues.

As soon as an event is launched, in come the bitter, unhappy, cynical, pessimistic and plain old negative comments.

Guys, cheer up, it's comics and what is a bad story for one, is often found entertaining for another. If there's anything in comics, it's variety!

We complain about all the comic pulls out there and never having enough mula to pull them all. That's the beauty of material like this that doesn't interest you, you can save your hard earned money for other pulls that do! Voila! Problem solved.

I guess it's just human nature to gripe and complain about anything and everything and even before there's anything to gripe about! It's cool that Marvel is out there creating and trying to entice us with what's to come. What's the f'n problem?

If the most we have to complain about is a comic book story that doesn't interest us, then life is definitively good.

Ok how many times can that hammer be broken now

#14 Posted by Green ankh (994 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

I thought Marvel said they were done with the big event crossovers for a bit?

#15 Posted by Duo_forbidden (1160 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

I'm going out on a limb, with the possiblity of this idea being very, VERY slim, but what if this event was set in the Ultimate Universe?

#16 Posted by pspin (842 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

If ever there was a hero who was worthy, it is Spider-Man. Here's hoping he kicks some ass. This actually looks interesting.

To everyone complaining that this is an event, this is probably just an extended crossover or a mini series

#17 Posted by Trodorne (2318 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

Dear Marvel;

Don't care.

Love?, Trodorne

P.S. STOP MAKING OMD Trades.

@Super_SoldierXII: let them gripe. complaining is a force of nature, you can't stop it.

Now back to the task at hand. This poster im willing to bet is part of Avenging Spider-man. since he does cross overs and team ups all the time in that series.

Okay, what did Spidey do this time?

#19 Edited by mtrakos (402 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

the shock factor of "OMG its broken" is dead. Find something new. How about this good writing will make fans continue to buy.

THIS IS NOT A NEW EVENT! look at the lettering...it's still AvX

#21 Edited by DATNIGGA (1176 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

as soon as i saw spiderman & thor i thought (oh yea im gonna buy this) but... marvel needs to put space in between there events

also.... STOP KILLING THOR

i swear the only reason they kill thor is because hes to strong to exist in other events without making street levelers looks worthless & even though they said nothing about killing him.. i see a broken hammer & marvel is predictable lol

#22 Posted by Dragonage2ftw (42 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

Well, they do seem to constantly have events. Also, most of their titles are tied into the events, except for maybe daredevil, so, pretty much

Marvel with a sense of originality? Hahaha, that's a good one.

#27 Posted by Dragonage2ftw (42 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

This wouldn't be such a big problem if the titles weren't event comics that take place in other comics. We can't "pull out another comic" because it most likely is tieing into nearly all the other comics as well. Also, we have a right to complain.

Hasn't it been "war" for a while now? Why do I have the feeling Doctor Doom's going to get a hold of some sort of power that causes the Avengers and X-men to unite against him?

#29 Posted by biggkeem89 (1330 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

Either this is the end of AvX or the begining of the much teased "ultron war"(which will probably be caused by AvX)

#30 Posted by Dragonage2ftw (42 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

Hopefully, this is just the Ultron war Bendis has been hinting at.

This is probably just post-Phoenix 5 villainous hell-turn. They crush the Avengers and that "means war" against the X-Men/Phoenix Five. And then whatever.

#33 Posted by Skaddix (3052 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

Could be Ultron War. AvX Aftermath Perhaps.

#34 Edited by Mr. Kamikaze (450 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

In that giant point one issue that showed a bunch of previews, there was one where Hawkeye was helping a torn up Spider-Man escape from someone or something that was hunting him. The mansion was destroyed....again. Maybe this is whatever that was.

Or maybe it's that Ultron War they were alluding to in the first (The Heroic Age) Avengers arc, when Old Stark showed off his time line and what not.

Or...ya know, just act 2 of AvX...I guess.

#35 Posted by LordRequiem (1104 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

Thor's only recently been resurrected, surely they can't put him through another massive ordeal so soon. Unless of course I underestimate the Marvel's tendency to carry out EVENT after EVENT after EVENT.

#36 Posted by Gambit1024 (9878 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

Pretty pictures...

And that's all I have to say about that.

#37 Posted by primepower53 (5655 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

Is Thor going to die again?

Seriously he's like Jean Grey he just can't decide when to die or live.

My two favorite Marvel characters...YES! YES! YES!

#39 Posted by Dernman (11391 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

What if this is the Ultron War that was meant to happen ages ago. Could be he has some connection to AvX aftermath.

#40 Posted by Z3RO180 (3815 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

i swear to god if they kill of thor agin im going over to DC...even though im mostly over there anyway.

#41 Posted by Shamelesslysupportinaznballers (553 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

I love how people complain about events and wonder why Marvel keeps doing them. Just check out which comic are holding the top spots and it's usually the events. Heck even Night of the Owls boosted a title like Batwing.

#42 Posted by Emperor Gonzo Noir (19681 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

Are you sure that second hand is Spider-man? it looks more like Wolverine. Look at the claws.

#43 Posted by Dernman (11391 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio
@Emperor Gonzo Noir: I don't think anyone said the second hand was Spidy. The reason they are saying Spider-Man is connected was because this came out in the Spider-Man panel. The second hand is Wolverine by the way.

awesome

#45 Posted by Zeeguy91 (908 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

@BurnSide: Daredevil by Mark Waid, which is great by the way, hasn't been caught up in all of the AvX crap. It did have one crossover with Avenging Spider-Man and Punisher a few months back, but that crossover was pretty much self-contained and was something that made sense overall. It was actually a result of the story that Waid was telling and not simply a way to smash these characters together in order to boost sales.

#46 Edited by Zeeguy91 (908 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

@danhimself: Yeah, I'm not seeing anything that would suggest to me that this is still a part of AvX.

@Dernman: Yeah, I pretty much pegged it as Wolvie's hand, too. The claws are a dead giveaway. But I wonder why Wolverine's hand now has that same tactile, almost stripped pattern that Spider-Man is famous for.

#49 Posted by isaac_clarke (4430 posts) - 10 months, 29 days ago - Show Bio

Here's hoping Thor smashing Spiderman so hard he undoes OMD and sets the universe right.

@Zeeguy91: You know Logan he sees something he likes or believes looks go on another person and he has to copy them. Then goes around saying he was the trend starter. :p
