Unless Steve Orlando has stepped up his game when it comes to writing dialogue, I am not getting this. Despite what critics may say, his character writing for Midnighter is not very good. And his "arc" in Batman and Robin Eternal has made me want to drop B&RE from my pull.

If you disagree with me, I challenge you to read a couple of pages of dialogue from any issue of Midnighter aloud. Orlando's banter between character's in his stories borders on nonsensical.

Midnighter is amazing and BRE sucks because the Eternal brand has sucked from day one.

I feel like this cover looks amazing. Fajardo Jr.'s color work looks pretty great as well but some of this line work is rough. DC really upset me with these tie ins having covers by Manapul and then going with a different artist for the interiors. Each cover has just made me want to petition for Manapul to take on another book. If I could just get a full Superman or Shazam book drawn by him I'd be just a bit satisfied.

So Shazam is a vessel for the old gods or any gods present in the source willing to make a contract the wizard. Interesting concept, I hope it continues growing.

@opalance: The Source Manipulation part was interesting to me too. The Source wall in DC has always been one of those things where any and everything happens/belongs... with vague to no real explanation of what it is or what lies behind it. That wall is such a mystery... but it's hella interesting though lol

Hopefully Billy gets a new book from all this!

Manapul has been one of my favorites since his work on flash. And that work was amazing...... But his art nowadays is on an entire different level

If they are trying to push this in a literal sense then Superman and Batman could probably be looked at in 1000 years as an embodiment of something essential to the human condition (Hulk too) but all this New Genesis / Scott Free stuff is certainly NOT going to develop into anything outside of just being cartoon characters. Most of the JL can't be taken seriously enough to imagine that they are "G-ds".

He's not Captain Marvel anymore due to the copyrights from Marvel.

@edblank: I don't see the problem there... Also suggesting Jack Kirby's Fourth World are nothing more than cartoons is just ignorant.

So you really think that people will be thinking of the New G-ds as actual G-ds someday? It doesn't work like that. What we think of as G-ds are attributes of the one G-d itself. The reason we spend thousands of years contemplating such things is not because some guy wrote a story, it's because we see destruction, war etc around us and we personify this into "a G-d".

That's why I say Super and Bats (and Hulk) may have a shot. They embody something essential to the human condition.

And Super and Bats becoming G-ds in the future has absolutely nothing to do with this current storyline.

The New Gods are gods in their own mythos anyways. The same way that Cthulhu is a Lovecraftian entity. It isn't like Lovecraftian wanted people in reali life to worship Cthulhu... If that is the case we might as well be worshipping Galactus. The whole point of the Darkseid War and Injustice is to show that power corrupts and portraying gods whether literally and metaphorically helps the story unfold.

DC is reaallly pushing the idea that their characters are G-ds. That's it. I think you are confusing yourself.
