CAPTAIN AMERICA & THE MIGHTY AVENGERS #1

(W) Al Ewing (A/CA) Luke Ross

AXIS TIE-IN!

Spinning directly out of AVENGERS & X-MEN: AXIS! Sam Wilson has become Captain America, and when he assembles the Mighty Avengers, he has a whole new mission statement in mind for Earth's Mightiest Heroes. But how do the events of AXIS already spell doom for the team's new direction? And what is Luke Cage doing meeting with the head of the notorious Cortex corporation? And why is Spider-Man trying to rejoin the team--doesn't he know Luke and Jessica have been itching for payback ever since he tried to take their daughter to Child Services back when he was "Superior"?!

They're the Avengers for the people, of the people - helping whoever needs it, however they need it.

And together with Sam Wilson - the all-new Captain America - they are Mighty.

But in the wake of the earth-shattering events of AXIS, are they truly together? Or about to fall apart?

Guest-starring the apologetic arachnid - Spider-Man!

You'd think after the renumbering of so many books they'd get the titles right, this book really should be called "New Avengers" and the current New Avengers series should be called "Illuminati"

@captainmarvel4ever: This Book really should be called "Hero for Hire"... they are the Hero for Hire, only with a new formation and without a real payment. At least "All New Hero for Hire" or "Captain American and the New Hero for Hire"...

[And yes, New Avengers should be Illuminati =_=]

Your forgetting the "Cap rule."

Cap can do whatever he wants, and it will work, as well as be thought of as the right thing.

I really like the "social pandering" panel. Just a great way of sticking the actual complaining of fans into the book.

Agreed. That entire page is a brilliant deconstruction of internet fandom. It's pretty subtle for the most part, but yeah, the "political correctness" lady is pretty much the best panel I've seen for awhile.

Are Captain Falcon and Luke Cage still inverted in this book? I remember a teaser a few months back that suggested Luke would become an atypical corrupt business man as a result of inversion is that still a thing or did I just imagine it?

Yeah agreed! I may give this book a shot.

With the word "Avengers" in the title, it will sell more. Pure marketing :)

I loved the two old guys arguing, too. Reminded me of the barbershop scene in Coming To America when they were arguing over boxers. heh

ROFL the screaming lady... huge "take that" to forums everywhere

Now it makes sense for American Falcon to be so reckless when catching those robbers. Clearly inverted morals. Sounding like Batman.

It can't be a good sign when the very first issue of a series is an event tie-in.

That first panel trying to justified the change and insult the fans that aren't happy about it was incredibly immature. Which is too bad, because the art looks great.
