@Jake Fury: I'm worried they are going to drop some cosmic characters a peg to be at Herc's level, or even lower.

@jloneblackheart:
I wouldn't be surprised. TBH I'm still not sure on continuing with the series. I'd prefer it to be more of a Herc/Amadeus adventure than the entire Marvel U.

Light purchasing week for me, most of the books fall under the jurisdiction of my brother or my gf's brother.  Books I'm looking forward to are the Luthor hardcover, S/B #77, Soldier Zero #1, and the DC Halloween Special because I love the variety, sentiment, and distilled characters in all the holiday specials with a ton of different creators forced to tell a story in a handful of pages.  Not on my buy list but my "read my gf's comics" list that I'm interesting in is Powergirl #17 (I've been loving the art on this and the story's not too bad either), The Road Home books, & Super Soldier finale.  I'm on the fence with Sixth Gun... it hasn't been what I'd had hoped but it is getting interesting....

I like the writer and the art, but I have trouble with the clash of gods or omnipotent beings (or just vague magic and power levels in general)... it makes it too hard to gauge the threat or risk and seeing all the heroes powered up and flying sort of made this feel like an irrelevant pocket-universe/timeline storyline.  It's off my pull list and either going to pick it up in back issues or trade unless the buzz for it says otherwise.

I could not have said it better. I think I'll spend my hard earned cash on something I'm more interested in.

@Jake Fury:  Overall, I enjoyed it especially the art which is great. I did feel rushed, though. There is no build-up, just WHAM!, Herc is back, stronger than ever and we are going to battle the greatest threat ever. That is one thing I am getting tired of very quickly in comics. Why does everything these days have to be the greatest villain yet and always a threat to the entire universe. It is getting exhausting and ridiculous. It also felt too cramped like the early issues of Blackest Night before all the awesome moments started happening and I was too busy screaming in joy to care about how cramped it was. Actually, Chaos War has many similairites to BN, which is another turn-off, even though I loved BN. But yeah, despite all that, I still enjoyed it and expect a fun mini-series.

Maybe Carnage #1 (OF 5)DCU Halloween Special 2010 Pilot Season - 7 Days From Hell #1 Vertigo Resurrected #1 "
a) I'm sorry to inform you but Vertigo Resurrected is not a maybe...this is the downfall of censorship that we're talking about...if this story had just been printed, Warren Ellis could have had a great run on Hellblazer!
b) Hellblazer #272 should be in the Highly Anticipated...IMO

@aztek the lost:  Sorry to have upset you, buddy.

On (a)... It is about as close to a buy as can be but because of the price of it, I am going to have to look it over to confirm. If it was 4.99, it would be a definite. Especially since the other three maybes are all very unlikely.

On (b)... You are absolutely right. I do not know why but I have been undervaluing the series. Upon reflection, I really have adored Mulligan's run.

@Pizawle: on a) I actually hadn't noticed the price and understand your hesitance, I really want to see Shoot but I'm disappointed they don't tell what's all in the 100 pages because Shoot itself doesn't seem like it's worth 8 bucks...but the other writers in there are pretty dependable for quality (Morrison, Milligan, Willingham)

b) Glad to hear it!

@aztek the lost:  I ended up buying it. Have not read it yet but am sure it'll be worth it.

@Pizawle: woot, I haven't gone yet but would you be able to tell me where all the stories are from and by whom, like are they reprints from other comics or new stories?

@aztek the lost:  Sure thing, mate.

Shoot by Warren Ellis/Phil Jimenez and Andy Lanning
The Kapas by Brian J. Bolland
Native Tongue by Brain Azzarello/Essad Ribic
New Toys by Gran Morrison/Frank Quietly
Nosh and Barry and Eddy and Joe by Garth Ennis/Jim Lee
Diagnosis by Steven T. Seagle/Tim Sale
The Death of a Romantic by Peter Milligan/Eduardo Risso
It Takes A Village by Bill Willingham
Resolve by Bruce Jones/Bernie Wrightson and Timothy Bradstreet

I believe they are all reprints besides Shoot. From Strange Adventures 1, 4, Weird War Tales 3, Weird War Tales Special 1, Heartthrobs 1, 3, Flinch 7, 14. Years - 1997, 1999, 2000, 2010.

Normally, I never buy reprint collections like this but because of the talent involved and because I love Vertigo, I will be getting this every month.

@Pizawle: thanks very much for that list, it sort of disappoints me since I will be reading all those series eventually anyways as Vertigo titles but I'll bite the bullet here, I wish Vertigo Resurrected was more of a reprinting of creator's non-Vertigo material but I suppose then it wouldn't be "Vertigo Resurrected"...I guess they had to get there money's worth on finally printing Shoot by packaging it with a bunch of there old stuff nobody's read
