what? Swamp Thing is doing well over at DC?
QUICKLY! TO THE BANDWAGON!

I've been loving Man-Thing in Thunderbolts (which is where he's been, Sara :P) but this just looks terrible. Kev Walker's rendition looks so much cooler:
Kev Walker's everything looks so cool.

It's #18 in their sales chart, so it's not doing too bad at all :)
Art Adams's cover art is awesome, but the internal panel art looks awful. It took me a minute to even figure what the hell I was looking at. Man thing looks like a green bipedal elephant! It doesn't even look like man-thing. This is one of those books where the story would have to be REALLY good to make up for how bad the art is, and I'm not even normally picky about art. It's funny because I even LIKE some of Kevin Nowlan's other stuff! I assume that is his art on the inside. why can't they just let Art adams do the whole book!?
really? the art is bad? those panels looks amazing. if kevin nowlans work is bad art, then i wonder what you people like for art? please reply with your favorite artists, i would love to read the replies.
this is a 3 issue mini-series not a ongoing series. i'll read it, since i became a new swamp thing fan, and i guess marvel was right about marketing this now.
So are the mini-series and the ongoing a seperate thing or has the mini been promoted to an ongoing series? As for the art, I would have liked Kev Walker's art on it better as well.
Man-Thing! Woooo!
I just hate how its like a comedy or whatever, and how Man-Thing looks extremely lame.
The art is gorgeous. I'm not sure what everyone is complaining about. Perhaps you want a darker style, well then go buy Swamp Thing. I will give this book a shot.
Actually, Christos Gage said the cancelation was just a rumor and is far from getting canceled. The book is apparently selling decently. This is a relief to me, since avengers academy is probably one of the best books marvel has at the moment, if not the best.
I find it strange that when something different, art wise appears people tend to think of it automatically as 'bad'. Kevin Nowlans' art is amazing and, yes, it is most certainly different. But if you notice that the late, great Steve Gerber wrote the script, the creator of Howard The Duck, then you know that the story is going to be faaar from normal and that Nowlans' art fits it perfectly. I love this direction, i just don't think that Marvel are selling it properly to the right readers.
