We've heard some of the news about Marvel NOW. Marvel is creating a new atmosphere in the Marvel Universe and it will be a good jumping on point for new readers. While we will see several new titles and new #1s, it's not intended to be a reboot.

What will Marvel NOW be all about? Marvel has released (another) teaser today letting us know where exactly that information will be revealed.

This Friday, July 13, at San Diego Comic-Con, details will be revealed. At the Cup O' Joe panel at 3:15 pm PST, we'll hopefully find out what Nick Fury Jr. has to do with all of this.

As long as past events aren't getting erased and the stories will be accessible to new readers while still referencing what has just happened, it sounds like this could be a good thing.

Tony Guerrero is the Editor-in-Chief of Comic Vine. You can follow him on Twitter @GManFromHeck. He's never had the urge to jump on an actual comic book.

Nick fury junior ? Kindda lame that they gave him the eyepatch made him into a carboncopy almost

I'm starting to get the feeling Samuel L Jackson is behind this entire thing.

Marvel are stealing from the movies again and just when Marvel Now was getting good

#7 Posted by Lvenger (18295 posts) - - Show Bio

I really hate the fact that the original Nick Fury has been wiped out in the 616 universe to make way for a Samuel L Jackson carbon copy son. It really disrespects the character's history when Marvel cave in to the expectation that Samuel L Jackson's Nick Fury should exist in the 616 universe as well as the Ultimate Universe.

Haha...he ruined Star Wars...now he is worming his way into comics.

#9 Posted by Necrotic_Lycanthrope (2388 posts) - - Show Bio

So....the Marvel movie verse is being turned into a comic? Because that's the only thing that makes sense out of all this (outside of ruining the 616 Nick Fury by trying to copy the Ultimate/Movie Nick Fury)

u have this already marvel ! its called the ultimate universe , sam jackson is nick fury , not all the heroes wear spandex ,alot of the comic deaths are permanent . im slowly making my transition to DC n indie comics only bc of this crap.

#11 Posted by Teerack (5325 posts) - - Show Bio

You know I don't think i'll ever like Fury Jr. as much as Fury Sr., but after Seeing Tony Stark, Norman Osborn, Steve Rodgers, and Maria Hill try to run things. I really welcome the idea of having a Nick Fury back in charge.

of course it is not new

A person who looks like Smauel L Jackson, is going to help shape the Marvel Universe, that's never happen before

really instead of having Maria Hill or Daisy Johnson be the top cop, since they are in charge of SHIELD, its some guy who claims to be the son of Nick Fury and no other hero nor agent has heard of this guy

I agree it's a bit of a bad move to remove Nick Fury, but....what else were they going to do to create cohesion between the movies and the comics? I mean, making the original Nick Fury a black guy would have been super duper racist and met with screams and yells from all aboard. The reason they're doing this is because Avengers made Absolutely stupid money all over the world. If Marvel can capitalise on a tiny fraction of this money in their comics by changing the Nick Fury from old War guy to new son-of-fury, then...this could potentially pull comics out of the downward spiral of destruction they're in. Especially cape comics.

I like the idea of letting Nick Fury become gray haired and older looking, but I am unsure of Nick Fury Jr. Maybe if they didn't have him loose one eye and shave his head and grow facial hair so he wouldn't look like Sam Jackson's Fury.

i feel like marvel is being affected by the asshole force(rebirth and destruction, like the phoenix force) that they contracted from the recent success of the marvel cinematic universe and now it will directly affect this new "marvel now" which is the rebirth and we now whats coming up next.... fuck u avengers movie

Why is marvel making the 616 like all their media franchises. Too much like the cartoons, movies, etc. That is why the Ultimate Universe was so popular. Back in the day they would have a cartoon or a movie and readers understood they were separate. Now it seems Marvel is taking whatever "they" think is popular and throw it into the 616.

#37 Posted by ambigu0us (41 posts) - - Show Bio

It's just business.

#38 Posted by Blood1991 (8098 posts) - - Show Bio

It kinda sucks, but I can't really blame Marvel for cashing in on a black character who was portrayed by freakin Samuel L Jackson. Well I could, but with the Marvel movie sucess new comic readers will probably expect to see a black Nick Fury. Besides Marvels kinda been hinting at this since he was introduced.

Really stupid, but marvel is like that since the heroic age.

They only think about moeny and want to appeal all the children who saw the movie by creating more 4$ issue and double or triple shipping too.

Mace Windu was one of the best parts of the prequels (although the bar is set really low) IMO.

Yup, because kids totally have crap tons of $ in their pockets. I'm a teen, and I dropped Marvel books for exactly that reason. It was a sad day when I dropped Amazing Spider-Man, but I can't afford to spend $8 a month on it, especially when they're only 32 pages long.

Sam Jackson didn't ruin Star Wars. George Lucas ruined Star Wars. Just accept it. He's a great visionary, but a terrible writer and director. He's so bad, even his best friend, Spielberg, has distanced himself from the plot of Indy IV as a concoction from Lucas.
