Have you been keeping up with AVENGERS ASSEMBLE? I have to admit, for some strange reason I haven't. I don't know why. I love Bendis and Bagley. And now Thanos is popping in with a freakin' cosmic cube? Check out the latest teaser for issue #7.

With the Mad Titan, Thanos, out of the reach from Earth’s Mightiest – his quest for power and domination over the Marvel Universe continues in Avengers Assemble #7! But the Avengers won’t go down without a fight, and courtesy of Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley, they’re bringing the Guardians of the Galaxy with them! But can even their combined strength defeat Thanos with a cosmic cube in his possession? Find out in Avengers Assemble #7, hitting comic shops everywhere, the Marvel Comics app, and Marvel Digital Comic Shop this September.

What is it with all the upcoming epicness?

First it's Minimum Carnage, then it's Deadpool versus the Marvel Universe and NOW THIS!

I'm missing that bit on Doom/Magneto team-up, where/what is it?

I haven't been reading this series, and this teaser doesn't exactly spice my interest either. I understand that both Thanos and the Guardians of the Galaxy have returned IIRC, so all I want now is for the real Nova (Richard Rider) to show up.

I have been following it. It takes patience, to be sure. AND apparently it is canon...

He was really looking for the ultimate nullifier, but all he got was this sill cosmic cube. AND that Cosmic Cube is Human made - US Army.

I honestly thought this book was a movie tie-in. SO yeah, is it canon for the 616 universe? If so, I'll have to start reading....

Thanos was trapped inside the Cancerverse how is he out was Richard Rider's death all for nothing

Isn't this what Avengers 2 will be about?

Who needs an Infinity Gauntlet?!?!?!?! The Infinity Gauntlet was always more powerful then the cosmic cube... hell Magnus gathered cosmic cubes in Infinity War just to get his hands on the Infinity Gauntlet.

*shakes fist at Marvel*

@Mutant God: yeah I was thinking the same thing, how exactly is this in continuity if Thanos is back from the cancerverse? I keep getting the sinking feeling that because all of this talk of cosmic marvel now hitting more mainstream with Marvel Now and due to the announced guardians movie that the entire Abnet run on guardians will be ret-conned including Annihilation, conquest, and Thanos imperitive. I don't know about you guys but at the comic shop I got to (which has around 100 regular costumers, I'm one of only 3 guys who read anything of guardians of the galaxy. I just feel like from Marvels standpoint there going to act like Star Lord (and nova) sealing themselves in the cancerverse to stop Thanos never happened because the amount of people that know NOTHING about the guardians comic far out weighs the amount of people that would be complaining that they ret-conned it. This is just my theory...

What I want to know is why come to  Earth for the Cosmic Cube and not just make his own. If Earth scientists could so easily make it then so could he.

The Cosmic Cube was in a movie. THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS.

@HortonDrawsAWho: yeah they say Sam is the new Nova but if they retcon Thanos dying they also have to retcon Rich's death

#15 Posted by jamzdageek (13 posts) - - Show Bio

My theory is that Thanos is going to try something new with the cosmic cube. They didn't exactly say that the cosmic cube was better then the infinity gauntlet. I think they`re just saying that he won`t need the gauntlet to cause major damage. The series is getting better and better.

Thanos isn't the only one that shows up in Avengers Assemble, Star Lord also showed up with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Star-Lord, Nova, and Thanos all died at the same time...so if two are back, assuming this is in fact canon, then Nova has to be back too.

If it is canon, it's kinda stupid they gave no explanation to this at all. Also, Hulk in this book is ALLL WRONG when compared to his own title. If this is canon...then someone isn't paying attention.

That said, the book did get a little bit better as it went on. Wouldn't be all that torn up about it if it were cancelled though.

When are doom and magneto teaming up? i've not heard of this.

Deadpool vs Marvel universe isn't canon.

@jamzdageek: I agree. This is why patience is important for this series.

I'm pretty sure its in the 616, but it seems like it took place in the past. Or at least if it is in the past, I'm not sure where to place it.

#20 Posted by HortonDrawsAWho (51 posts) - - Show Bio

@Mr. Kamikaze: Its just as much in continuity as joss whedons astonishing x-men was, as in it actually isn't in continuity at all but marvel will act like it it because it sells more books

The name Bendis shall block me from reading this until a gazillion educated fans tell me it's not the piece of crap it is likely to be given the writer.

#24 Posted by X35 (5981 posts) - - Show Bio

Yes. It's canon. Bad canon. You know, like everything Bendis has written since Daredevil.

#25 Posted by Mercy_ (92629 posts) - - Show Bio

I refuse to accept this as canon. It is so blatantly pandering to the movies.

So..i'm guessing no Marvel books are canon to you right now......

#28 Posted by Mrfuzzynutz (990 posts) - - Show Bio

this book drives me insane.

For on one hand if it is a book about the "Movie" Avengers in their universe then this is a fun read. BUT if they are trying to tie the events of this book into the main universe this is a piece of sloppy writing in the highest order.

1) HULK doesn't act that way

2) When does this tale take place

If the Avengers are knee deep in dealing with the X-men, and as last we knew the Gaurdians of the Galaxy where wearing matching uniforms ( a small gripe, I know) and star lord, thanos, and nova were all trapped ( yes, I said TRAPPED) In the cancer verse

When would this have taken place??

They really dropped the ball on this book by not making it clear where it stands in the grand scheme, Because how can you not love Marc Bagley on the Avengers?

The more and more time moves on I am thinking they really need a new creative vision at Marvel and get the House of Ideas in order

@Novemberx2: @gui22:

Nevermind. A friend mentioned some rumors and after I looked into it they were false.

You know what annoys me the most: they are already making billions with this movie, what do they need to put out a whore like sseries in addition to that. Don't they realize it is actually harming their image (and their fans)?

It seems like this series is really trying to get the Avengers movie goers to buy this comic

Bendis doesn't pay attention to continuity, not even current continuity.

#34 Posted by jinxuandi (595 posts) - - Show Bio

If this book is "canon" it can be only in the loosest possible sense of the word. It can't be current 616 continuity because this is not the current line up of the team. Possibly these are supposed to be past adventures (and maybe some of them could be considered as such) but I'd argue against that theory as well: there are just too many inconsistencies to be reconciled. For one thing, Banner hasn't been involved with the Avengers during their fights against Thanos (that I can remember, anyway). That leaves only two options: either previous 616 continuity is being discarded in favor of that being newly established by this book, or this book takes place outside 616 (and is canon there). I prefer to think of this book as taking place in or very close to whatever universe the MCU exists in.

#35 Posted by DarkChris (303 posts) - - Show Bio

This series is crap. The worst Avengers-related title. Bad characterization, a dissapointing Hulk, stupid plot, meh art from Bagley and Bendis' boring dialogues. I hope Waid takes over the title and change the roster, or else we are screwed.

#36 Posted by Teerack (5404 posts) - - Show Bio

You know benis you could of at least taken one page to explain how thanos and starlord escaped the cancerverse.

A great man once said that history repeats it'self, first time as tragedy, second time as farce. This is something Marvel might want to remember.

is this series worth reading?

i think the only thing that's gotten me interested is thanos

#39 Posted by Quntumking (216 posts) - - Show Bio

@Nova`Prime`: I was going to post the same thing. The Gaunlet has always been like 10x as powerful as a regular Cosmic cube.

#40 Posted by Quntumking (216 posts) - - Show Bio

@X35: The Infinity Gaunlet was in THOR. You might already know this , why not feature both.

Yeah but the Cosmic Cube was in a film even MORE.

Cosmic cube and infinity gauntlet does have the same infinite capabilities.

@dewboy01: Except Living Tribunal doesn't show up when someone grabs a hold of the cosmic cube.

marvel tries to consolidate all their future movies/tv shows plots and characters into one series?

#47 Posted by RainEffect (3240 posts) - - Show Bio

Not picking this up because Bendis pandered to the Movie and made Hawkeye and Black Widow hook up, even though Natasha is in the most stable relationship in comics with Bucky.

#48 Posted by henryarguelles5 (366 posts) - - Show Bio

Thanos has an artifact of infinite power, and an assortment of heroes must try to stop him. The only twist here is that it's something he's already had before. Apparently, even the Mad Titan must go back to his greatest hits to stay relevant.

Of course it is. Guardians of the galaxy are in this story and it deals with the cube as well as the avengers? Joe Q is nothing but predictable when it comes to him selling out the company to people who would never pick up a comic book in their life.

#50 Posted by TheBatLives (1 posts) - - Show Bio

I'm excited about this and will be checking it out but i also am not surprised since we all know Thanos will probably be fighting the avengers in the next film. So this a good way to advertise him. In fact he has the cosmic cube which is the comic book version of the tesseract.
