Marvel Reveals Variant Cover to New Ultimate Spider-Man #1

You've probably heard that Spider-Man died...in the Ultimate Universe. A couple weeks ago in the pages of Ultimate Fallout #4, we got our first look at the new Ultimate Spider-Man, Miles Morales. Marvel has just released the variant cover to issue #1.

Written by Brian Michael Bendis with art by Sara Pichelli, the new series will feature the character everyone is talking about. You'll notice he is wearing a different costume than he what he wore in Ultimate Fallout. We still don't know what, if any, connection he has to Peter Parker, how he got his powers or this new costume. It should be interesting to see how everyone else (Aunt May, Mary Jane, Nick Fury, etc) reacts to him. We'l find out next month.

What I saw of him in Ultimate Fallout, I liked, but I'm still finding it really weird that it's not Peter. Still, I'm picking this up when it's released.

I'm interested.

Marvel must be desperate to increase sales... I say that not because I'm racist (I'm really not), but because I know others are racist, and this move will likely aliente those readers.  Now, one might argue that losing readers like that isn't a big deal, but the point in this exercise is to increase readership, not decrease, correct?

I am really liking the new costume. It's way to early for anyone to say if Miles will be a good or bad new character, but at the very least they gave him a bad ass new costume. One I hope will be in Ultimate MvC3.

I like. Like what Bucky did with his suit. He isn't Spiderman, but he can try to be.

When the Ultimate Spider-man animated series comes out will it be Peter or Miles?

Obviously the kid is a rookie. He doesn't even know the first rule to a secret identity is keeping the mask on, lol. Can't wait for the book to come out.

I am excited for this series but I do not love the variant cover. I like the regualr cover better for this issue

I think it's safe to assume that initially, May is gonna be PISSED!  I want to see how Cap handles it.   Will he take Miles for granted like he did Peter?

i have nothing against this character but he has the dorkiest face. I guess it fits in with Spider-Man.

Is Miles a mutant or is he empowered like Peter was? Has anything been said about this?

Not bad! That being said...anyone with me that Miles looks like Urkel without the glasses in this pose? Seriously...put him and Jaleel White (younger of course) side by side and they look practically similar.

I'm so into this change. I know Bendis will do well with the material seeing as I've read every issue of USM and haven't really had any disappointments.

I haven't had a chance to read the first appearance of him yet, did they reveal how he got his powers yet?  How he became another Spider-man?

Okay, I'm sorry.  The big deal is "This is not a matter of race", right? 
 
Problem is: 
 
It is.  They picked this guy BECAUSE he was black, to play it up.  Specifically for that. purpose.  They wanted to touch on certain topics with him.
 
And I can't help but notice that the costume got changed to black, as well. 
 
I'm no racist, but this is like saying that the Apollo isn't black. 
 
Now, all that said.  I kinda like this character.  Just feel it was "too soon" to reveal a new spider-man like...the issue after Peter died.

I do indeed like this, and if I may point out here a lot of people are a bit bias and not opened minded at all, the population of America is now mixed with every race you can think of and I think this is an awesome idea and a great opportunity to see more Minority Hero's :)

And to add to someone else s comment..I don't get the feeling that this will drive EVERYONE away from Spider-man or this is a way to drive in sales I think its a New perspective on Diversity, it's like showing us that its just not the "White" community who can be Heroes but also the Minority can as well, I'm going to enjoy this :)

lol It looks like its still Pete's body just with a black kids head pasted on it, I would really like to see a side by side comparison of the two to see if they really have any difference in their body types................i mean there are differences, right?

hmm...

I like the new costume. Black and red almost always work well together. May will probably be pissed saying he's messing with Peter's legacy or something like that maybe. Cap might try and train him so he doesn't die like Peter did. I don't know how Gwen or MJ will react but I'm looking forward to this.

I really like this cover. Nothing iconic, but it gets me in the mood to break my DC streak and try a Marvel book again.
