Marvel is proud to announce Death of Spider-Man, the groundbreaking new story that forever changes the Ultimate Comics universe from superstar writers Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Millar. Kicking off with a prelude in Ultimate Spider-Man #153 and going into high-gear with Ultimate Avengers vs New Ultimates #1, this is the story that no comic fan can afford to miss when it all begins in February 2011 because, in the Ultimate Universe, There Are No Rules. This storyline continues in further issues of both Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate Avengers vs New Ultimates.
“As a group and as individuals we have made a conscious effort to create stories this year that no one has ever seen before,” said Bendis. “I am very, very proud to be a part of this storyline and very proud of Marvel for even attempting such a bold endeavor. Sit back and watch as we unveil a storyline unlike any other!!”
The most successful new imprint of the century, Ultimate Comics has continually pushed the limits of super hero comics and raised the bar for comic book storytelling, with Ultimate Spider-Man Vol.1 selling well over one million copies.
Millar added, “This is the biggest, boldest thing we've attempted in the ten years since we kicked this line off. This is the one thing that could be bigger than the CREATION of the Ultimate line and it's great to be a part of it. Being part of something like this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and soon you’ll all get to read the story we’ve written for you, This should be up there with the very small number of events that really mattered. This is going to be big.”
This February, Death of Spider-Man marks the most ambitious Ultimate Comics story yet…and one that no fan will ever forget!

Marvel Announces Death of Spider-Man by Bendis & Millar
" Just keep it in the "Ultimate" universe. "It's like Bendis little play ground, if we can just keep him from 616 we are fine!!! XD
" @Final Arrow: LoL. "I swear they just gave him the ultimates to keep him away from having to much pull over 616. You go play over there and let the adults talk.. XD
" @Final Arrow: I think he's okay on the street-level titles. Just keep him off the Avengers. "Oh god yes, you give him anyone with power cough Sentry cough and you can grantee he's going to screw it up
Ultimate line has become a joke ever since Ultimatum. Didn't Loeb do this already and Bendis undid it...now only to Faux kill Spidey?
well that'll be the nail in the coffin of ultimate line for me. Spiderman was the only reason to read anything in that universe since Ultimates 2.
Oh good, I can drop this book then, since its "relaunch" Ultimate Spider-Man has sucked (imo) both story and art. Don't get me wrong for those who have enjoyed it, I loved this book before it was relaunched and there's been a few good stories. The art just bugs me, they don't look like teenagers, they look like 10 year olds. Hopefully this Death ends Bendis run on the book and a new creative team takes over and interjects something fresh and new, and more Spider-Man less teen angst.
<<<<<<<Actually likes the New Ultimates series.......
I'll wait for the pitchforks & torches...
Is there a superhero dies only to return soon thereafter cliché on the site? If not, there should be, thanks to crap like this.
Well, if he does die, I won't have a reason to keep reading titles from the Ultimate Universe. I knew he wasn't going to die in Ultimatum, but for love of God, DON'T LET LOEB NEAR THIS.
I love Bendis' writing, especially the Ultimate Spider-Man comics, he's done nothing but a spectacular job with it. The Avengers was kinda iffy, yeah, but Powers is my top five series. It's so gripping.
Anyways, I'm iffy on Millar writing this with Bendis. Not a huge fan of Millar, but I hope they do a good job with. Honestly, I don't think they'll keep him dead for long.
