JUSTICE LEAGUE and AQUAMAN Crossover in Dec.

Yesterday, DC Comics announced that Jim Lee would be stepping down from art duties on JUSTICE LEAGUE, leaving the art team of Ivan Reis and Joe Prado to pick up the pieces and run with them starting with December’s issue #15.

Today, DC announced that Reis and Prado would kick off their tenure on JUSTICE LEAGUE with a crossover between it and AQUAMAN, called “Throne of Atlantis,” starting with issue #15. Unfortunately, we still don’t know who will be drawing AQUAMAN in Reis and Prado’s absence.

In an exclusive interview with USA Today, Geoff Johns teased the through line of Throne of Atlantis.

There's still questions of what Atlantis is like and what they do and what they're capable of and why they exist and who sank Atlantis… There's all this mythology behind Atlantis that we're not really sure of and no one really has any answers, and we're about to get the answers.

Throne of Atlantis represents a portion of what Johns has planned for JUSTICE LEAGUE during its second year. You can also expect the league to come to blow with Cheetah, as well as Shazam and the all-new Atom joining the squad. Of course, this is all build up to the big “Trinity War” event that DC is already hyping into the stratosphere.

But before all that, first all the heroes and villains will respect the guy who talks to fish. Soon.

The best part about this is that it quashes the rumors of Johns leaving Aquaman with Reis and Prado. That alone is some of the best comics news I've heard all week

Awesome news. The only thing that would make this better is that DC announced a new title named Superman: Man of Steel by Scott Snyder and Jim Lee.

Looks like Eddy Barrows made the cover for Aquaman 15, so maybe he's the one replacing Reis/Prado?

Well, I think it's only for a couple of pages. It's not the focus of the issue by any means.

I'm hoping this means that Johns and Reis aren't leaving Aquaman despite the rumours.

The only thing that could make this news any better is if they hide all the members of the legion of doom into a giant horse shaped cake so that aquaman can wheel it into the hall of justice :P

Hmm and here one was hoping things would finally get interesting in JL land...guess JLD remains the better.

I wonder how long the crossover will be?

This may be a good jumping-on point for Aquaman. I was considering picking up the trade, maybe I'll have to now to get ready for this.

Agreed - I never thought id say it, but Aquaman is Awesome!

I think I'll pick up the crossover for Aquaman unless it proves completely irrelevant to the enjoyment of the story. Having said that I've only heard the best things about Aquaman and wish I had picked it up from Issue 1. Oh well...

Crossover idea, aquaman pwns the JL one by one to prove he's the best...

Both Aquaman and Justice League are two of my favourite new 52 books.

Also i have a question:

When and where did Geoff Johns say he was going to be leaving Aquaman? I hope this is only a rumour as I hate it when a writer leave a book - Especially Mr Johns. I always get used to their writing style and i usually find that the replacement creative team is not as good.

well issue 8 did show them fighting talons... on a plane <insert snakes on a plane joke here> but the issue didn't carry the Night of Owls logo that all the other tie-in's did (plus the artist of said issue mucked-up in a few panels showing batman standing on a green lantern construct after the plane exploded while he'd previously not been shown on the plane due to him actually being down in Gotham in the main Night of Owls story... oh yeh, and Cyborg suddenly vanished and Aquaman seemed to be flying... well either that or Superman was back in his super-dickery mood again) :P

The Art on SHAZAM is flawless!

Two tittles connecting together to become a single story is a crossover....so it kinda counts ^_^

Meh. I'm generally not a fan of crossovers. I dislike going from a different writer/artist in the middle of a story. Not to mention the extra $.

Ok so I'm guessing one minute Shazam is kicking Superman's ass (Shown in back of Justice League #12) and the next there like hey want to come join the Justice League? Like Shazam I like where they are going with him but that makes no sense to me. Unless they figure out hes an orphan kid and Bruce knows how he feels. Thats the only route I can see them truly going with that but you also see in issue 12 Aquaman invading Us. So does that mean their going to help him just so he can invade us?

Not jazzed about this. I love when characters guest star in a book, but the whole idea of a crossover that switches issues off is really annoying. Either contain it in one book or make the story a separate miniseries. I swore never to buy another issue of Justice League after the reading through the first arc and the next couple single issues, so I would be picking up issues of Aquaman only to get half a story. This combined with Reis leaving will probably make me drop Aquaman sadly.
