The second issue of UNCANNY X-MEN hasn't been released yet (in stores tomorrow) but why not take a look at the THIRD issue? Here's a first look courtesy of Marvel and it doesn't look like things are going to get better for Cyclops and his new squad any time soon. Emma looks like she could still use a hand...

THE CELESTIALS HAVE ARRIVED! In your first look at Uncanny X-Men #3, from the team of Kieron Gillen, Carlos Pacheco, Paco Diaz, & Rodney Buchemi, Cyclops and his Extinction Team must protect mankind not only from Mr. Sinister…but the world ending space gods! Sinister’s quest for supremacy has doomed the entire world and it’s all crumbling down around the feet of the X-Men. Are the Children of the Atom finally spread too thin? Find out this December in Uncanny X-Men #3!

When I first clicked on the article, I only scrolled down an inch and the first picture look very wrong...

#17 Posted by Chaos Burn (1785 posts) - - Show Bio

wait, are celestials the really old people made of energy that experimented on earthlings and created superheroes and mutants?

The first pic of Arishem and Cyclops is sick but the rest of the art is...hrm. Iffy. Speaking of Arishem, I thought he died to the Galactus Engine? Or maybe his armor was just destroyed and he got shunted back to hyperspace or something? Celestials are both awesome and confusing. Will have to pick this up. Side note: how unbelievably awesome would a thumb tatt like Arishem's be?!?!?! I would totally get it if my job wouldn't freak out and fire me :(

#19 Posted by stu (379 posts) - - Show Bio

love the art! cant wait to pick that up!

#20 Posted by Owie (3761 posts) - - Show Bio

Crap. I had planned on not continuing with this series but now I guess I'm going to after all. I'm not a fan of the Sinister part, but color me Celestialtastic!

#21 Posted by DATNIGGA (1193 posts) - - Show Bio

how are they gonna deal with the celestials? lol

#22 Posted by sparty-dbq (808 posts) - - Show Bio

I gotta say, Cyclops wouldn't exactly be my first choice for an emissary to send before the giant space gods on behalf of Earth.

"Do all Earthlings have such big poles up their ass?"

#23 Posted by VanTesla (518 posts) - - Show Bio

What caused the Dreaming Celestial to be controlled by Sinister?... With the Celestials background, how could they not know about this until now? The only way this could make sense is it is some sort of test or experiment they are conducting. Anything else could make the comic look dumb to me...

Looks great, very intense. Be interesting to see how Cyclops handles the situation. Loving that Sinister is back, he's the ideal nemesis for Cyclops' new team considering their past.

On a side note, hopefully Emma gets that arm of hers fixed...

#25 Posted by Lifeguard (14 posts) - - Show Bio

Since Celestials are responsible for the creation of Mutants, they probably just came down to ask Cyclops why the team split or why there's no more mutants. Hopefully it will end peacefully, because the X-men look kind of screwed there standing in front of the space gods.

I'll bet you anything this is the Deus Ex machina that undoes Decimation. The Celetials say, "The Scarlet Witch does not speak for us.", snap their fingers, and <poof>, more mutants!

Emma is still missing her arm :)

Better than the Wolverine book. It's like doctor Seus meets superheros and Parkinson's disease.

#34 Posted by TheBlackHood (352 posts) - - Show Bio

From the layout it looks as if the team is leaving Magneto behind to deal with all the Sinisters while they confront the Celestials. I am glad that Magneto is getting so much play in the new book. I long for the day when this team inevitably go toe to toe with the Avengers and mud stomp their asses.

I will quote what General Creighton W. Abrams said one day in the field during a battle in Vietnam shortly after he assumed the MAC-V command. When it was apparent that Vietcong and NVA soldiers were ready to swarm an American installation, he said to an associate..."Look at that, they are going to surround us....poor bastards."

In the first Rambo movie, Colonel Trautman laughs at the Sheriff when the latter suggests having renegade Rambo give up his position so the Sheriff's men could surround him. Trautman chuckles and says "Bring you to him? That would be like bringing the birds to the cat."

Surely you see where I'm going with this? I'm going to miss you, poor X-Men...

Celestials? Well I'm a fan of all things Kirby and I've very much enjoyed most of gillen's work on Uncanny thus far. Glad the book got relaunched under his pen. Still wish a better artist was on it, but I can say that for now, at least I don't have to look at Greg Land's work. Like the way he's writing Sinister and very happy to see him back on the scene. Really enjoyed UXM #1 and looking forward to diving into #2 today.

isn't this a reason to get the entire marvel universe involved? When ever a gigantic threat like galactus or the celestials appear the Marvel universe kicks into gear.

#43 Edited by chiq (1974 posts) - - Show Bio

I know this team is supposed to be uber powerful, but what the hell will they do against that? lol

Unleash trion Colossus? hmmm still not enough.. Bring them limbo and let magik go all out? hmmm... still not enough... hope turning into a big red bird?...maybe. That's awhole lot of Celestials though...Intresting.

Cyclops said "this team can stare gods in the eye and make them blink" ..i don't see them blinking Scott...

If you remember then some time ago , Tiamut was approached by the Fulcrum , asking whether he wanted to become his companion.Tiamut agreed , and left his armor in San Francisco . And its not really surprising since Tony Stark has done the same with Ziran the Tester's armor , albeit in an alternate future , after Ziran was "killed" by Thanos with IG. Not to mention that Sinister could have learnt a few tricks regarding Celestial tech from Apocalypse , which he probably used to figure out how to enter and control the armor.
