It’s all been building to this! Today, Marvel is proud to present your first look at ORIGINAL SIN #8 – the epic final issue from New York Times Bestselling creators Jason Aaron (Thor: God of Thunder, Wolverine & The X-Men) and Mike Deodato (Avengers, New Avengers)! The truth behind Dr. Midas’ gambit, Old Nick Fury’s betrayal, the evolution of the Orb and the secrets the Watcher held will be revealed as the remaining pieces of the puzzle fall into place in this can’t miss finale!

Drained of the Infinity Formula, Nick Fury is dying. Aging rapidly and uncontrollably. In his time as the “man on the wall,” he has survived protecting Earth in secret against monsters, demons and other unseen threats. Yet even he cannot escape old age. But the battle-hardened former director of S.H.I.E.L.D. will not go down without a fight! He’ll fight to his last breath to protect the Marvel Universe from what’s coming – even if it means going through the Avengers to do it!

Yet nothing could prepare them for what’s next. Amidst the chaos and rage of battle, more Watchers have descended upon the moon! Not to observe, but to render judgment on Uatu’s killer! This is it – all your questions will be answered! And the Marvel Universe will tremble at the truth!

Ironic that the eye Uatu's missing is the same one that Fury is.

I wonder if it'll be a case of "Fury killed him, BUT it was a mercy killing on account of Midas and his crew invading his sanctum and messing him up/taking an eye"

@generaltekno: I 100% agree with you there. It would certainly be an unexpected plot twist to say the least.

Also, I have this strange feeling that Fury, Sr. won't die but instead will become Earth's new Watcher. That way Marvel can continue to push Fury, Jr. yet still please old school fans by keeping Fury, Sr. around and kicking.

Defiantly, Marvel has been pumping out a lot of bad events in recent years, but this one is great. I'd love an animated adaption of it.

For real! That is one of my favorite Bucky images. All the variants are great, but this one is particularly badass.

I'm with you there! There's no Nick like the classic Nick- Kirby/Steranko classic cool. I hope this isn't the end for him, but a new beginning. I feel the same way about Old Nick that I do Cap.

Also, I have this strange feeling that Fury, Sr. won't die but instead will become Earth's new Watcher. That way Marvel can continue to push Fury, Jr. yet still please old school fans by keeping Fury, Sr. around and kicking.

Man, I hope that's what happens. Fury Sr. has been such a big part of the MU for years. I can't help but be a fan of him- he had been a continual feature in Cap for years, not to mention being involved in almost every major event in the MU- & before that, the awesomeness that is the classic Fury by Steranko, stuff that puts 007 & Ian Fleming to shame. I would love for classic Nick to still be around, in some capacity- even if it is as Earth's new Watcher- which would be fitting, considering his career(as he once said, "I don't want the whole world to go plop just 'cause Ol' Nick Fury ain't keepin' his eye on things.") Plus considering the Watchers' "immortality", it would solve his current rapid aging problem.

Also, does anyone else think that the events here might lead to Thor becoming "unworthy"? I've wondered because the hammer is supposed to be left on the moon according to solicitations for Thor: GoT. (Which then leads to Thor identity theft...)

@winter_kills: as far as i can tell its something Fury tells Thor. maybe an event that Thor unknowingly set into motion and thus triggers the unworthy clause

um civil war sucked ass

wow , I guess your right this is right up there with Civil and as you can see how I felt about the story line of those books. Horrible , heroes not acting right etc etc etc. So we see the same here. Story line off , heroes not acting like themselves and just getting worse and worse and worse.

I agree. And AXIS should be good, also.

@winter_kills: I like how at first its Thor talking, then at the bottom its Dave lol

Also, original sin should be called "nick fury's book" because it's now all about him.
