I'm so excited for what Hickman and Epting do on this book.

I'd be more interested if this title was just simply The Illuminati. No need to name this after the Avengers.

#108 Posted by Novemberx2 (447 posts) - - Show Bio

looks great, but why call it the New Avengers? it doesn't make any sense. Secret Avengers would of been better title (and that book should be named SHIELD instead) or Illuminati

This looks to be pretty interesting, definitely gonna give this series a chance.

Mister Fantastic in the Avengers? I thought it was going to be a mixture of X-men and Avengers or something.

Can't wait to see a team where Panther seem to have a lot of pull.

So are namor and beast members of the illuminati in this too? Cause they only made 1 image.

Mr. Fantastic was an Avenger once upon a time. New Avengers is just a slightly adjusted version of Marvel's Illuminati

what female character would you suggest? do you know any females who surpass any of these characters in terms of both intellect and pull in the Marvel Universe? Not being snarky, just curious.

They shouldn't put any X-Men in this thing. Beast is grandfathered in, I suppose.

@Avenging-X-Bolt: Emma Frost, Storm, Medusa, Sue Storm, Valkyrie, Black Widow, Ms Marvel, etc...Come on, it isn't that hard to beat Iron Man, Namor and Black Panther....And you may argue against these characters for whatever reasons, but the truth is: why doesn't marvel have intelligent and powerful female characters in the first place?

Wow, you must really underestimate these guys. Tony,Reed, T'challa, and Hank are on the top 10 list of most intelligent characters in the marvel universe, Black Bolt is King of the Inhumans, Black Panther is the King Of both the most advanced city on earth as well as the realm of the dead. None of these characters qualify for the list. Emma might have have but she's a fugitive now. Storm and Ms. Marvel have clout and power but aren't smart enough. You cant put Sue in over Reed (Worlds smartest man). Doctor Strange is Sorceror Supreme again so you got to have him. as for Black Widow and Valkyrie well...im not even going to go there

And you may argue against these characters for whatever reasons, but the truth is: why doesn't marvel have intelligent and powerful female characters in the first place?

They do, just not as smart as these ones, which in retrospect isnt much better.Maybe Hickman will create one, or follow up with more Val Richards stuff. I wouldn't mind an older version of he replacing Reed.

@Avenging-X-Bolt: I didn't question Hank or Reed or Doctor Strange at all. Tony...really? NAMOR!??!? Storm is as smart if not smarter than T'Challa, no question. Carol Danvers has had military, CIA, SHIELD and avengers training. Black Widow is obviously extremely intelligent otherwise why be one of the best spies in the world? She's been trusted with lethal information and deadly missions...They wouldn't just give these off to any spy. Valkyrie is a demi-goddess, enough said. And to counter-act Dr Strange, there is always Scarlet Witch? I know she is slightly mentally unstable but then again since when is Blackbolt 100% stable. And when I said 'intelligent and powerful female characters', I meant ones who are the equivalent to these almighty superhero male characters.

and im still waiting to hear some.show me some feats that put these characters on an Influential and Intellectual par with these characters When was the last time, Storm designed a Quinjet or built a multidimensional portal hmmm? or Carol? When has Wanda shown the same level of supernatural knowledge the Doc has? and really? SLIGHTLY mentally unstable? you call depowering an entire race and killing several of her friends slightly? dont get me wrong, i sympathize for her but shes pushing it by just retaining her powers.Valkyrie's a demi goddess, big whoop technically so is T'challa and he has a hyper-intelligent warrior kingdom a his command. She was also recently weakened and makes no sense for a science team whatsoever. Im sorry but none of these characters seem to fit here and thats probably why they're in the other Avengers books.

Is it just me or does ironman's armor look a lot like his bleeding edge armor on the cover with black panther holding a earth?

#128 Posted by queenfrost_ (2499 posts) - - Show Bio

@Avenging-X-Bolt: Huh? The first part of your reply doesn't make sense. I was saying that marvel should have female characters on par with male characters anyway, and shouldn't be having 'intelligent women' just 'intelligent characters who happen to be female'. But....Tony Stark, cause of the Civil War does? Or Namor, someone who took the Phoenix in to his own and tried to kill the Avengers? And by the way, Storm too lead Wakanda for many years. Remember? She was a queen and everything. And Doesn't Valkyrie lead a large team of other Valkyries, as well as recently assisting the military in Fear Itself? She is also still 10x more powerful than Tony Stark. And if you want to talk about not belonging, then why the heck is Beast on the team? Isn't his morals against everything this team stands for. And you bring up intelligence but then...Why is Namor there? Perhaps Kitty Pryde, an extremely intelligent and capable young female could have been on the team too. But no, what you are trying to say in a very passive aggressive manner is that all the women should stick to their small roles on the Avengers and not bother with the brainy stuff.

I apologize. i must have misunderstood you.

But....Tony Stark, cause of the Civil War does? Or Namor, someone who took the Phoenix in to his own and tried to kill the Avengers? And by the way, Storm too lead Wakanda for many years. Remember? She was a queen and everything.

Namor doesnt deserve to be here (which isn't to say he's not qualified). i completely agree. Tony is more complicated than that.

Led, as in past tense and I would hardly say many years. remember that comic time passes slower than regular time. they were married in 06 right? so that's MAYBE about 3 years comic time? most of which was spent flipping between Wakanda and the X-men while Shuri did most of the work.

And Doesn't Valkyrie lead a large team of other Valkyries, as well as recently assisting the military in Fear Itself?

She is also still 10x more powerful than Tony Stark.

a 45 tonner with a magic sword is more powerful than Iron Man......ok then.... or were you referring to Storm in which case i must ask, what does that lend to a science team?

And if you want to talk about not belonging, then why the heck is Beast on the team? Isn't his morals against everything this team stands for.

Beast has been betraying his morals for years, this isn't some brand new occurrence. Isn't he also helping keep the existence of the X-Force a secret now despite bitching about the other one?

And you bring up intelligence but then...Why is Namor there?

Namor led a multi-billion dollar company for years, he's hardly an idiot (to clarify, im not saying you ever called him an idiot) He's also the king of Atlantis and a founding Illuminati member. hopefully he wont be there for long though, im not fond of him.

Perhaps Kitty Pryde, an extremely intelligent and capable young female could have been on the team too.

Im not that knowledgeable on Kitty's Intelligence level. please educate me. i know she was apparently a computer whiz but that is about it. What indispensable qualities does she possess?

what you are trying to say in a very passive aggressive manner is that all the women should stick to their small roles on the Avengers and not bother with the brainy stuff.

I know that's what you'd like to think im saying but its not hon. if i felt that way, i would have said it outright.

I simply don't believe in redundant choices on a team that's supposed to be an elite best of the best science team.

QueenFrost you seem lost. This team is the past illuminati, that has T'challa bringing back together. So all the characters you are naming really don't make sense. T'challa turned down membership and is not restarting the group. As for Storm being as smart as T'challa? That's one of the stupidest things I have read on this forum. T'challa is a *super genius* in league with Reed and Doom. Storm is no were close to as smart...not is se a leader of anything to be in this group. Hickman wanted Professor X who was killed off and then Magneto which he could not have. So he choose Beast. Emma would not have be consider or allowed for the same reason Magneto was not! Bendis is using them for a new book. Read that..

This sounds really cool, too bad marvel is too afraid to do a complete reboot like DC, and i still prefer DC.
