I'll miss the red, but the new suit doesn't look bad, to be totally honest.

the black looks good on him hopefully we get to see pepper and rhodey

I love the new armor! They use that for Iron Man 3 instead of the mostly gold and red armor!

WAIT! is that tony? i thought there was a big hubbub about it being a mystery pilot

I agree they are awesome supporting characters. A Iron Man comic would not be the same without them

I like the armor design and the preview... I'm just not sure how I feel about Greg Land penciling this when it gets to the point where the suit comes off and the face-to-face conversations between people begin.

My only question is why does he have to access his suit through a briefcase again? What happened to his Bleeding Edge armor? O_o

#8 Posted by pmvaun (14 posts) - - Show Bio

That is in the current story line and it is now known that it is Rhodey in the suit but that is suppose to be Tony.

this and uncanny avengers will be the only MarvelNow titles i read :)

@War Killer:

If you haven't read it yet, I think we'll find out why in this months issue of Iron Man and possibley the next.

But I know several issues back because of Hammer and Babbage Tony did have to give up his suit.

I thought he just retired and had the suit "turned off" or whatever but still had it inside him? I haven't been keeping up with recent issues of Iron Man so I'm not exactly sure.

is this like the dc 2011 relunce ?

if not than what is it ?

#13 Posted by LordRequiem (1310 posts) - - Show Bio

I know let's make Iron man look more like the film armour i.e. cool, but nowhere near as awesome as it has looked.

I KNEW they would eventually come to this idea in Iron Man. Nanite tech making his armor a layer of liquid like this, I just figured when they did it would make Iron Man look more like a massive metal human like this, only made of metal:

Yes... and no. It is a relaunch, but its not a reboot. Continuity isn't really changing, they're just relaunching their books and bringing in new titles, changing some team rosters, changing a lot of costumes, etc.

#16 Edited by 7DEADPOOL7 (122 posts) - - Show Bio

It isnt a reboot they are just starting new story arcs and having all comics in their new story arcs start with issues at #1 so that way no continuity is erased.

Looks good!!! Very nice.

#18 Posted by TheCrowbar (4286 posts) - - Show Bio

Once you go black you never go back...unless you're spiderman.

#19 Posted by longbowhunter (7047 posts) - - Show Bio

Looks cool. I doubt I'll buy this but I'm sure Gillen with slay on this title.

who stops goes black again stops goes black again, and so on in a never ending cycle.

I think it looks good. I personally am 50/50 on Land's art to date I like most but I don't like how some people look the same or how he draws smiles and the fact people are always smiling.

#21 Posted by edtie97 (81 posts) - - Show Bio

This looks like it may be good.

#22 Posted by britsera (204 posts) - - Show Bio

Hmmm... not sure about the black... doesn't seem hero-ish or obnoxious enough (lol).

So, is Marvel rebooting or what? I don't follow them much, but I might start with iron man...

#23 Posted by Pacperson (307 posts) - - Show Bio

sounds like a pretty basic iron-man story set up =p hope its good

#24 Posted by Shaanyboi (67 posts) - - Show Bio
Iron Man must act fact…and build faster! As part ofMarvel NOW!

Someone needs to proofread....

#25 Posted by Cavemold (1679 posts) - - Show Bio

Damn! How ever land is copying this it's pretty good. Will give it a chance 3.99 your evil marvel!!!!!!!

#26 Posted by Moon_Bat_87 (719 posts) - - Show Bio

Looks pretty sweet, I like the black.

#27 Posted by VioletPhoenix (300 posts) - - Show Bio

that's a lot of exclamation points Marvel!

#28 Posted by Tony_Shark (469 posts) - - Show Bio

I like this new suit.

I think Tony learned NOT to store his suit inside himself. It has obviously brought him problems. I like this briefcase idea. Just like Extremis, but with the liquid structure of bleeding edge.

#29 Posted by SnakeEyes327 (56 posts) - - Show Bio

So now we went from nano machine to liquid metal. Now that's bleeding edge.

#30 Posted by EternalBiker (158 posts) - - Show Bio

i like the new armor

#31 Posted by EternalBiker (158 posts) - - Show Bio

@sora_thekey: what is new armor called ?

#32 Posted by TheFizz (33 posts) - - Show Bio

When is Tony Stark not making new Iron Man suits? That's practically all he does! Rhodey's got the new one now on the down low. Mark CLXIV! How is this a new direction? For one of the smartest men in the world, he sure does like learning the same mistake over and over.

Props to Fraction and Larocca though. They have done great work on this title for a long time.

#33 Posted by Aeroman (498 posts) - - Show Bio

@haydenclaireheroes: Indeed

#34 Posted by Deranged Midget (17599 posts) - - Show Bio

@War Killer: I'll explain the best I can about what's been going on lately.

Tony got drunk during Fear Itself and someone knew and that someone blabbed and happened to be inside of Resilient and nobody knew who it was. Later on it turns out it's Spymaster working under Mandarin who has gathered all of Iron Man's enemies to team up and kill him, basically. General Babbage and Justine Hammer intervene and threatened Tony but in the end gave him a device he sticks on his chest reactor that limits his Iron Man suit usage. If he's drunk it won't turn on and they can turn off the Iron Man suit whenever they please. Kinda. So let's say he's fighting Crimson Dynamo and Blizzard. In the middle of the battle he could be seconds away from winning and just like that, Iron Man armour gone and in come Detroit Steel to steal all the glory. Detroit Steel now owned by Hammer.

In the end Tony has enough of being played around and decides to turn things in his favour and he just turns up to Babbage's office and says "I quit being Iron Man." and later he gets the help of Reed Richards to vapourise or bleed or sweat out the Iron Man armour from Tony's body and in secret, and it seems only known to Tony, that Rhodey is now taking the role of Iron Man in a whole new armour. Not even Pepper knows who it is.

I think that explains everything roughly with what's been going on.

how long will this last?

#39 Edited by The Black Hood (88 posts) - - Show Bio

Well thank God Greg Land is still getting work. I would hate to think both him and Leifeld would be out of work at the time. It must have been really difficult for him to find porn movies with a guy in a robot suit to trace off of.

#40 Edited by War Killer (20136 posts) - - Show Bio

My only issue with Tony not having the Bleeding Edge armor is that it's unrealistic in this day and time. One of the things Fraction brought up and made a good point about is that Tony without the suit would be killed instantly by most of his villains. if it weren't for Extremis in The Five Nightmares storyline he would have been killed by the suicide bombers and when he was testing out his new car for Stark Resilient, if he hadn't had the Bleeding Edge armor, he would have been killed when the car exploded due to sabotage.

I understand that not having the suit on him at all times can sometimes add suspense to the story, but this feels more like a downgrade for Tony as the Bleeding Edge armor was just that, the "bleeding edge" of the Iron Man armors. But going back to a suitcase armor seems like a step back for Tony who is the guy that's always looking towards the future; it just feels out of character for him to be going backwards.

#41 Posted by SadiaVicious (133 posts) - - Show Bio

Nah... Bleeding Edge was better. IMHO

#42 Posted by r3d_rob1n (541 posts) - - Show Bio

It looks good, but I will miss the red.

#43 Posted by _Black (2302 posts) - - Show Bio

I'm still not feeling the black. I'm also kinda annoyed that Tony's solution to everything is build another suit.

#44 Posted by zombietag (1494 posts) - - Show Bio
"When his greatest invention becomes his greatest mistake, Iron Man must act fact…and build faster!"

is this not every single iron man story?

#45 Posted by blueninjapanther (676 posts) - - Show Bio

I like the whole liquid that will transform into his armor. Its more quicker and eaiser to carry it around. You'll never know when you need it. But I'm not a fan of the color. Black is good just not together with the gold.

#46 Posted by PrinceIMC (5421 posts) - - Show Bio

Reminds me of Hard Drive or whatever his name was from MC2.

#47 Posted by JamDamage (1114 posts) - - Show Bio

I like this new suit now. Not that I didn't like it, but I was just getting into the present one. It's so new. This one is cool tho. I also liked the blue and gold suit from the Iron Man Anime'

#48 Posted by Stormultt (5317 posts) - - Show Bio

Amazing, Marvel revamping this messy universe could be a good thing.

#49 Posted by DougCL (38 posts) - - Show Bio

new armor is sweet, but we all know the red and gold will be back fairly quickly

#50 Posted by Bemitri (11 posts) - - Show Bio

Wow! Not only he traces all his figures, the guy does not even bother to draw one bit of a background. I'm going to continue on boycotting anything he appears in. This guy should not continue damaging good stories with his "art".

4 pages solicited (Inc. cover) and helmet is copy-paste in every one of them. What a talent.

That guy is so bad, his comics are not even worth pirating, let alone spending a dime on them.
