First Look: HULK VS IRON MAN #1

IRON MAN #1, the first issue in a 4-part crossover that pits the Green Goliath against the Armored Avenger with personal stakes and gut-wrenching revelations.

Superstar writers Mark Waid & Kieron Gillen join blockbuster artists Mark Bagley and Luke Ross for a gamma-bomb sized collision. The events of Original Sin have released the greatest secrets of the Marvel Universe. And Bruce Banner is about to learn a secret that’s stayed buried for a long time. If Stark is somehow responsible for what happened to Bruce it will add yet another dimension of bleep to Tony's character considering how he treats Bruce. Not to mention what the Illuminati did to him.

There's always been that grudge sort of relationship between Banner and Stark, I'm pretty pleased Marvel is adding fuel to the flame.

I'd like to be positive about this but I don't like the idea of Stark being involved in Banners transformation to the Hulk.

Probably gonna get it to see who kills the other first.

Every time I see Bagley's art I feel like I'm reading an Ultimate Comic.

That said, this series looks like fun.

Can't say as I'm a big fan of this. I mean, on the one hand, seeing Hulk and Iron Man duke it out will be cool, but why THIS? Why involve Stark in the Hulk's creation?

I prefer how their relationship works in the movies, honestly. That said, seeing concept art for Avengers 2 showing Hulk and Iron Man fighting it out has me worried they may try to adapt this story in some way.

This fight should only last like 2 pages.

I don't know it looks weird. If you look at Ironman's neck on the left side behind the hand it is all built up. On the right side it looks like he has a super skinny neck, plus there is zero detail on the chest it just looks like random lines. I guess Land got tired after drawing that cool reflection. He doesn't do much of his own art so this must have tired baby out.

On the bright side. Odds are that tidbit will be forgotten and never brought up again, seeing as how it's a damn stupid idea.

TBH I'm really excited to see this fight. As for Tony being involved with the creation of Hulk, it all depends on how its done. If its half-ass then no but if it is done in convincing and interesting way then I'm all in.

I was never a fans of secret reveals from the past. This one seems a bit incestuous. It's a big world out there yet the same small amount of characters seem to all be connected to each other throughout their history.

I can only hope it's a bit of "misleading advertising" and Stark is there in some form or capacity but isn't involved.

@granitesoldier: I'm hoping too. But knowing Marvel now that Iron Man is the golden boy...I don't have much faith.

I think he's just continuing his poster-boy push due to his movie popularity (which I think is fairly obvious to most people). He's the most popular movie Avenger it seems, and that appears to be translating over.

Kind of mixed on this... I mean, it does add in the relationship between Stark and Banner yet Tony getting dog piled with sins at the moment. Starves punching him, Bruce is punching him and so on.

That's why i'm mixed on the idea of Tony being behind Hulks creation. Tony being behind Hulk to end up to be amazing for both character add depth to the Hulk/Tony relationship but my favorite part about Marvel is the whole awesome superhero shared universe and how it's something happens to someone so they become a superhero and end up crossing paths joining teams of superheroes etc. But when all the heroes origins connect to where one hero/villian etc is behind the creation of said character it takes away the feeling of a shared universe.

If That's the case, and Stark really had nothing to do with the Hulk's creation, then what is the point of the story? To throw us a curve ball, get us all excited/worried, only to then say "Just Kidding"?

Personally I like this idea. I agree that if handled poorly this could turn out to be a giant flaming pile of dog poo, but with Mark Waid writing it I doubt that will happen.

@ducey13: That is probably the point. These "hidden" stories that alters what we already know often fall flat. When shoehorned in for an event, it's likely to not build upon the mythos but to piss upon them.
