100th anniversary? What? Hope your time machines are in working order.

This July, do the time warp and fast forward to the year 2061 as Marvel celebrates the upcoming 100th Anniversary of some of its greatest characters in this new head-spinning limited series! Today, Marvel Comics is proud to present your first look at the 100th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL – FANTASTIC FOUR #1, from fan favorite creators Jen Van Meter & Joanna Estep.

Witness the first family of the future in a way you’ve never seen them before! What does the Fantastic Four look like in the year 2061? Reed Richards, Doctor Doom and Johnny Storm are all gone – presumed dead. The Fantastic Four has been discredited in the eyes of the public – no longer the champions they once were. Now, a new Fantastic Four will rise up – comprised of Doom’s granddaughter and the Richards-Banner twins. But when a key player in the first family’s past resurfaces – it will have earth-shattering effects on their future!

“We’ve had a bunch of anniversaries lately at Marvel,” says Senior Editor Nick Lowe, in aninterview with Marvel.com. “Most of our character have had their 50th anniversary in the pasts couple years, We’re right in the middle of Marvel’s 75th anniversary as well. It was [former Senior Editor] Steve Wacker’s idea originally that it would be fun to tackle a 100th anniversary, to imagine our characters as they might be in 40 or 50 years.”

Each week in July sees a new 100th Anniversary Special featuring fan-favorite creators and rising stars as they envision the Marvel Universe of the far flung future! Don’t miss the opening salvo in this mind-bending new weekly limited series when the 100th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL – FANTASTIC FOUR #1 hits comic shops this July!

Kinda negates all the stuff Hickman did huh? Ah continuity, thou art a cruel mistress indeed.

You guys are all silly. I don't see what's wrong here. And this is what comics will be like in the year 2061. When all of you will be yelling at kids to get off your lawn.

The girl with pink hair reminds me of comicbookgirl19 from Youtube.

It would only take one time travel story to completely alter the future that Hickman predicted/described.

I thought they were black Lanterns at first.

@g_man: why yes i will. if this is what they come up with

#9 Posted by Cavemold (1818 posts) - - Show Bio

its just further proof Marvel doesn't care about F4 with the F4 movie coming out lol

Nice costumes but yea this does kind wreck Hickmans future.

I'm not really an F4 fan, but that green girl...

I might have to look into this.

I like how they use tally marks as a 'four' on their costumes.

This art is pretty good, I'm not familiar with JOANNA ESTEP.

I guess the only way for them to live till 2061 was die become black lanterns and than become white laterns.

Ugh Marvel mistreating the Fantastic Four again. No surprise there. This future is kinda meh and rubs out the only piece of good work Hickman has done at Marvel with his Fantastic Four stuff.

This is gonna suck......so badly. the art......just...just no.

Yay! We get to celebrate marvel's 100th a few years early. I like this concept!

I love the f4 but this looks terrible. The story and premise seems goofy and sounds like something out of fanfiction.

I might give it a shot but at this point in time all I can do is shake my head.

I'm gonna laugh so hard if this turns out to be awesome.

I yell at them now, and I'm 18.

Not loving the art, but the future Fantastic Four costume symbol is really cool. I wouldn't mind them applying that in regular continuity.

I was really hoping this would be about Franklin and his children being the Richard/Banner twins. Now that its confirmed that's not the case and there randomly Sue and Bruce's I have zero interest in this one shot. Marvel should of used this to show Franklin and Valeria leading the future foundation.

That art is dreadful.

I don't understand why on the cover they have different suits, while on the interiors they're basically the same standard F4 suit on Sue and Ben in the future and the new kids' aren't much different? Even if it's a time traveling adventure, visually it's just lame. I appreciate the guys at Marvel trying to change up the suits, I really do, but they could do better. And the twins are about the worst thing I've seen in a F4 comic since the Thing's symmetrical diamond shape rock exterior...

Future stories ... in a comic business , I cannot take them seriously.

So... smart money's on the Mole Man or some child of his being the returning villain, right?

Black Lanterns FF? Not bad.

Kinda negates all the stuff Hickman did huh? Ah continuity, thou art a cruel mistress indeed.

To be fair, Hickman's future was 1000 years later. Continuity is still possible, just maybe not probable.

whats up with the art on the thing in particular? did some use blur on photoshop?

Admittedly this wasn't something I was intending to buy, but the art definitely wants me to check it out, it's gorgeous! And I hear James Stokoe of 'Godzilla: Half-Century War'/'Wonton Soup' fame is writing and drawing an Avengers 100th Anniversary Special? *drools*
